Time to re-order another dose from mybmi.

I'm going to go with a fourth 7.5mg pen as I'm still finding that dose to be effective.

Hunger suppression is good and the scales have started moving again after a 3 week stall.

I bought a couple of polo shirts and t-shirts last weekend and it feels surreal to be buying size M instead of XXL!

Had a huge wardrobe clearout recently, pretty much everything pre-mounjaro is gone into storage. 😬

Have settled into a regular eating pattern too

    Breakfast - Coffee, protein shake

    Mid-morning - 1 or 2 small apples, 1 banana

Lunch - Chicken soup, turkey salad sandwich, popchips (treat 🙂) followed by a brisk 3k walk

    Afternoon - 1 or 2 apples

Dinner - 1 or 2 chicken thighs, 3 baby potatoes, spinach & broccoli

Water - About 2 litres per day

Planning on increasing protein and removing or replacing the bread & potatoes from the diet

There's a youtube channel called the doctor's kitchen with some good and healthy food advice so looking at trying out some of his recipes too.

Current weight loss is 3 stone (19kg) after 7 months on the pen

Great to see what others are eating daily while on the MJ.

I've read in a few places that the patent is expiring on semaglutide and that ozempic and the likes will be available from generic suppliers and the price should come way down. Has anyone got any information about this?

Yes curious to see what others are doing if anyone wants to share.

am on Oz, am interested in seeing what others eat aswell and the number of calories it is. Have mine set to 1660 in MFP but am only getting 1100 and intrested in what protein drinks are people taking, I am struggling getting protein and managing calories

Or is no one counting and just eating when hungry.?

Looking for any information or help that anyone on Mounjaro can help me with please.

I've taken my 4th 2.5ml dose and have lost 7kg since I started

First two weeks I suffered with constipation but this week explosive diarrhea which leaves me unable to go to work and at this stage I feel like giving up.

I also have the sulphur burps at the same time but I can live with them

I normally inject on a Sunday so I was going to stay on 2.5 instead of moving to 5 and inject on Friday night instead to see if it makes a difference as this week I've lost 3 days in work

Does it get any better …does my body get used to it

The Semaglutide patent expires in India in the coming week. 50 generic brands lined up to be commerically released at 25% of the cost (cost of Indian price. Probably wont get European approval for a year or two.

Im on ozempic but I've always taken it on a Friday in the off chance that any side effects would happen over the weekend and not affect work. Touch wood it has never happened but I switched injection sites a few months ago and it has helped a lot. I was injecting in my stomach and sometimes nausea etc would be bad but since changing to my thigh I have little to no side effects

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

interesting.. may look at this aswell

Not really bad, but a few hours post and the next day are usually a bit dodgy for me

Firstly, get yourself some immodium. I use the instants. The diarrhoea is your body's reaction to the constipation. Two immodium after your first incident, and another one if you have a second incident, and that should be enough. Side effects like this only really happen while your body is getting used to the medication so it's not like you'll be taking immodium every week for life, it's just for the weeks at the start.

Secondly, try and get a handle on the constipation. I found the side effects usually happened on a Friday or Saturday night, after taking my injection on a Wednesday or Thursday. In hindsight, it was usually because I would eat a bit more at the weekend, and probably not as healthily, so that food just backed up in my system just as the medication effectiveness (slowing down digestion) was peaking. That resulted in sulpher burps as the food languished in my stomach, and diarrhoea as my body reacted to the slow down by doing a clean out.

For the days you appear to get the side effects, eat less, and keep it fibrous. Take a fibre supplement if needed. I used to take psylium husk and Fibrogel on Thursday and Friday, once I saw the pattern. Loads of water, and a walk in the evening or even just pottering around the house in the evening helped gravity move everything, as it were. That stopped my body overreacting to the slow down.

Even with all the above I still get the odd bout for the first six months. Immodium really was my saviour.

Also, if you are getting good appetite suppression from the 2.5mg, don't move up. Moving up will only increase your side effects. Only move up when your weight loss slows down or plateaus. That was the advice I got from my GP, who specialises in obesity and these medications. You can buy a 5mg pen and count the clicks to get a lower dose. Saves money too!

Agree with last poster about sticking on the 2.5mg. You have great progess made so delay moving up. I have been on the 2.5mg for 3 pens and going to keep on it as long as it keeps worming for me. It.might not be as dramatic but if it works even slowly I will be happy with that.

Hi all, just reading back and it’s great to see all the progress people are making with the medication.

I am interested in starting after my weight yo-yoing over past few years.

Are my bmi the cheapest option for consultation and prescription, I’ve found it hard to find pricing for the prescription on their website. I have also come across inish pharmacy, smart scripts etc. Any advice on the cheapest option, I have health cover which covers 75% of GP visits.

    Thanks in advance.

That depends on what medication you are planning to go on

Ozempic is the same but biggest dose for ozempic is 1mg. Wegovy goes up to 2.4mg as far as I know.

Ozempic costs between 125-160 and month, best to check the price in all local pharmacies. There is 3 different strengths, 0.25mg 0.5mg and 1mg. They all cost the same

    Hi all,

I’m interested to hear how people approach holidays while on medication.

I’m due to go away for two weeks soon, and I’m considering coming off my medication during that time (currently on 10mg of Mourano), then restarting when I get back.

Has anyone done something similar? How did you find it, any issues stopping and restarting, or did it go smoothly?

    Appreciate any experiences or advice.

I’ve started to get large yellow bruises or patches on my stomach.

Google search throwing up an array of different issues.

I think it may be from the injection site.

I've been on MJ for 9 months now. Over 5 stone down, 1.5 more to go. I travelled a number of times with work abroad and holidays abroad 5 times, mainly 2 week trips. I took my injection as normal at the weekend, took the pen with me each time. I continued to lose weight each time I went away. I enjoyed my holidays, enjoyed the food but ate only small amounts twice a day, and continued with my normal fast as I do at home, drank plenty of water, enjoyed a drink most nights but only one or max 2. I walked loaded, swam daily in the pool & sea. I did not miss out on anything. Felt great .. never felt sluggish from heavy meals and treats or hungover from drinking too much. I highly recommend you take you pen and continue your MJ / weightloss journey as normal.

I've been away a few times, always bring the pen(s) and enough needles for the trip with me, sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't, but I wouldn't travel without it

I'd travel abroad a bit and scheduled my shot for Friday evening as I'm normally home by then if it's a work trip. On my proper summer holiday last year though I took the pen with me alright. Remember you can take the shot up to three days early or late any particular week so you may be able to space your shots such that you only need to take one abroad if away for two weeks.

    hi,

I am confused- is it cheaper to go with MyBMI? Would it not be cheaper to go with own gp and send it to a pharmacist in Northern Ireland directly? Thanks- the mybmi confuses me as I don’t really understand the model. Thank you

I posted this recently in the general Fitness forum. I thought it might give some idea's to people trying to loose weight. As I said its not an easy approach and might not work for everybody but its my 2c.

After a recent back injury (meaning no exercise for a bit) and me being on holiday abroad my weight had crept up from around 78kg around November 2025 to 82.2 at its peak 3 weeks ago - now at 79.2 kg. Not as bad as the 89.9 it was in November 2024 but still I don't want to head back up there again. I like to keep the weight down for my cycling but with all the bad weather cycling was not an option most days so my only exercise is my 1km (1,008 meters to be exact) swim in the pool on most nights. Swimming is good for general fitness and mobility (I am 67) but it does not burn up too many calories for me at least as even a non stop 1km swim does not require much effort from me other than putting in the 30 / 35 minutes it requires.Yes I am slow. 😏

But anyway all the keep fit / diet experts say that you can't exercise your way out of a bad diet. Well that is true - sort of. I eat what I want when I want once I don't exceed my daily calorie count.

I have lost 3kg in 3 weeks by going back to my usual gadgets - my samsung galaxy fitness watch and that old reliable the myfitnesspal app on the phone. The watch tracks how many calories I burn and the app tracks how many calories I eat and both gadgets are able to talk to each other so that at any time of the day you know where your at with your calorie count.

But like all gadgets they are only as good as the data inputted into them. So a fair degree of discipline is required ie; wear the watch at all times (other than when its charging) and input the foods you eat to the app preferably just after eating them. I aim for a calorie deficit of around 200 / 300 calories a day but its ok too to even have a zero calorie deficit as I have the app set up to loose 1kg per week so it then tells you based on that your daily calorie limit.

I avoid eating foods where the calorie count of the food can't be accurately known. Estimated calories counts are most often wildly out of kilter with the real count. So I avoid restaurant meals or any food where there is no packaging with either a bar code to scan or if that food is not already on my food database and so the calories are already known for a given quantity of that food. I weigh my cornflakes and measure the milk in a measuring jug so that it can be accurately logged in the app.

I know that kind of monitoring would drive most people insane but as I said a fair degree of discipline is needed and if you stick to the plan it will work and you don't need to be just eating carrots, lettuce or broccoli all the time.

the north will always be cheaper by a small amount but its the hassle of travelling up if they dont post. mybmi will deliver it directly to your door so its handy. they use a pharmacy in NI called Epharm NI who will dispense the medication and DPD will deliver it usually next day to your door

    Hi Alfaguy

Thanks for the advice and I'm very glad that your exercise and diet regime has worked for you. I don't know from your post, but I don't think you have ever suffered from obesity? I note that you say you were, at one point, ten kilos overweight - correct?

Weight loss drugs are prescribed to a different group of people. I would say for 99% of us that have been prescribed the drug,we have tried tracking, calorie counting, and every exercise going. For us, it isn't enough. Similar to those who are diagnosed diabetic, a certain cohort can control their blood sugar through diet and exercise. The other cohort require medication in conjunction with diet and exercise.

I eat what I want when I want now - now that my hunger and fullness hormones are regulated like a normal person, and my metabolic rate has been restored to normal levels. I haven't eaten like this since my early twenties. Once my hormones got out of whack in my mid twenties I basically calorie-tracked constantly, in one form or another. If it wasn't pure calorie counting, it was weight watchers, or slimming world or something else. I just checked there on my phone - I have been a member of MyFitnessPal since 2009.

If you're willing to inject yourself every week, and pay exorbitant prices for the privilege, you can be sure that every other conservative measure has been totally exhausted. But that's not to say a really well done to you in losing the excess weight that you were carrying, and it goes without saying that everyone should try conservative measures before choosing to go on weight loss drugs.

but if I can get a pharmacy to DPD it down to me will that be cheaper? If I go to my own gp? I also have one gallstone! Will that be a problem?
    Thank you again

yes it will be cheaper overall. some only send once a week. Not sure about gallstone maybe speak to your GP. Ask the question anyway and maybe ask could you get a 15mg pen and microdose to save you money
