And no guarantee it will actually work

Every game has been the same. I thought they would up the price for the final to be honest. A pity Premier don't seem to show the schools games anymore, was always great to catch if you couldn't get there live.

I’ve no particular interest in schools rugby but poor enough no longer having any matches on tv. Would have thought someone would want to broadcast the final. Doubt it would be a big money spinner but worth showing somewhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,588 ✭✭✭ersatz

broadcasters would be sacrificing a large paddies day audience by showing a schools rugby match. A few thousand viewers…

Leinster probably realised with setanta/eir not doing it they can stream themselves and make more from it. Not pushed more to get it on tv.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,155 ✭✭✭✭salmocab

yeah I’m not sure RTE 1 or 2 but virgin have 4 channels I think or RTE news sometimes puts on over flow from the stations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,155 ✭✭✭✭salmocab

ah I’m sure they made the decision with money in mind but I think sometimes it’s better to make a bit less and get better exposure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,588 ✭✭✭ersatz

Surorised that Leinster can't get their sh1t together to do a stream right, its incredibly basic in 2026, something one of the staff's teenagers could handily spin up. No doubt some tech consultancy got paid to balls it up.

anyone willing to give a good guess at the squad for Glasgow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,659 ✭✭✭FtD v2

We've been relatively unfortunate this year with the fixture list, as we've had some of our toughest games during windows when we've been missing a huge amount of players - we started the season with 2 games in SA followed quickly by Munster (first game back for most of our frontliners) and now this Glasgow game straight after the 6N.

Based on the training photos and brief injury update given, I think we might look something like this:

    (15-9,1-8):

Hugo Keenan, Josh Kenny, Rieko Ioane, Robbie Henshaw, Jimmy O'Brien, Sam Prendergast, Luke McGrath, Andrew Porter, Ronan Kelleher, Tom Clarkson, Brian Deeny, RG Snyman, Max Deegan, Scott Penny, James Culhane

Bench: John McKee, Jerry Cahir, Rabah Slimani, Alan Spicer, Alex Soroka, Fintan Gunne, Harry Byrne, Ciaran Frawley

If Keenan isn't good to go then it's probably Frawley at 15, and Ruben Moloney onto the bench.

If Porter isn't good to go then Cahir to LHP and Usanov onto the bench.

    Andrew Osborne injured?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,226 ✭✭✭bingobango12

Will throw my hat in with,

    1. Cahir 2. Mckee 3. Clarkson 4. Deeny 5. Spicer 6. Soroka 7. Penny 8. Deegan 9. Mcgrath 10. Byrne 11. Moloney 12. Tector 13. Ioane 14. Kenny 15. JOB

    16. Kelleher 17. Usanov 18. Slim 19. RG 20. Connors/Culhane 21. Gunne 22. Prendergast 23. Henshaw

Obviously doesn't usually work out like this but bringing on Kelleher, Slim, RG, Prendergast, Henshaw together at 50 could change the game if needed.

I also have no idea who is likely to play with recent injury returns and Irish players back in so the above is complete guess work.

Fair squad prediction but they've tended to use the bomb squad approach. So possibly more first team players on the bench.

I'd hope Cullen would be backing Tector at this stage, he deserves to be ahead of Henshaw on form.

    MOD Note

Some of you may have already seen that Alan Spicer has been arrested and accused of assault causing harm against a woman in a nightclub. This is now being reported in the Irish press, and Spicer has appeared in court.

It is against Boards terms of use to discuss any matter before the courts, so this matter should not be discussed here for now.

I will try get some further clarification on this.

Stronger than i envisioned , good to see and hope you’re right FtD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,659 ✭✭✭FtD v2

A lot will hinge obviously on whether or not Keenan & Porter are deemed good to go, but I think the guys who came back from the Irish camp (Kelleher, Clarkson, JOB and Frawley) are all likely to be involved, alongside Sam/Harry at 10.

This afternoon's news means the bench definitely won't be as I predicted it, so could see Conor O'Tighearnaigh potentially come in there as I think Diarmuid Mangan is still injured.

Keenan is back. Seriously strong team considering how many players have been away. I really like the look of that backline. Could go very well if the forwards give them a good platform.

    15. Hugo Keenan (76)
    14. Joshua Kenny (10)
    13. Rieko Ioane (8)
    12. Robbie Henshaw (113)
    11. Jimmy O’Brien (111)
    10. Sam Prendergast (43)
    9. Luke McGrath (248) CAPTAIN

    1. Alex Usanov (3)
    2. Rónan Kelleher (87)
    3. Thomas Clarkson (69)
    4. RG Snyman (30)
    5. Brian Deeny (47)
    6. Jack Conan (171)
    7. Will Connors (63)
    8. James Culhane (23)

     Replacements:
    16. John McKee (42)
    17. Jerry Cahir (8)
    18. Rabah Slimani (30)

Great team and FtD on the button. Very happy to see Culhane get a start he deserves a break now. Sam back at 10 is good news and the break will have done him good. Luke is a Leinster legend at this point 2 caps from 250 is a glorious achievement. Hopefully they can take the win and get a new burst of momentum as it’s a key few weeks ahead now leading to knockouts in Europe

    9 George Horne (151)
    10 Dan Lancaster (14)
    11 Ollie Smith (58)
    12 Stafford McDowall (C) (109)
    13 Johnny Ventisei (0)

Not half as strong as I thought Glasgow may go. Opportunity to get a win tomorrow.

Really happy to see Conan and Kelleher named to bring some leadership in the pack.
