I tested a M3 yesterday and loved it. Will probably order it tonight. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but are referral codes still a thing? I think it’s only worth free miles at the Supercharger, but every little helps! Thanks

A beauty and best of luck with it. Do you mind me asking what it cost new?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭rx8

New price on the road is €36484. You can get a further €3500 trade-in bonus if you are trading in a car and not availing of any of the Tesla finance offers. So new cost after bonus is €32984.

Anyone driving a performance 2024/2025 highland, what’s the range showing in this weather when it’s fully charged? My AWD is showing 470km, trying to gauge the real world difference?

Everyone’s range will show the same across the same version of M3 as it’s a simple calculation based on the EPA and what the BMS thinks is left in the battery at that time.

Actual range achieved and wh/km is what you need to compare. It’s why every single RWD in the county displayed 439km for a time.

I think OP is asking re Real World AWD Vs Perf range

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,873 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

My Highland RWD has only gone from 439 to 437 after 18months, I must delve into the buffer to see has that reduced as that literally nothing in terms of degradation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,501 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

Yea that’s what I’m after, my 470km is about right on mixed so far find it accurate. Wondering if someone’s performance is showing way lower.

    Only 439km?

That must be for the pre 64kwh batteries?

Mine (Sept 25 pick up) shows 459km at 100% charge.

It did drop to about 455km when the weather was really cold but back up to 459km and I have over 10K km on it now..

Get yourself a cheap credit union loan and bobs your uncle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,534 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

It's actually cheaper to pay full price and take Tesla's 0.9% rate over 5 years than a credit union loan at anything over 5.3% over the same term.

    Tesla - €36,484 Interest over 5 years - €840. Total cost = €37,324.

    Credit Union @ 5.4% - €32,984 interest over five years - €4,590. Total cost €37,574.

This could be just calibration issue due to LFP battery, doing a deep cycle will bring it back.

Lots of credit unions dont penalise for paying back early (and in effect reducing your interest) so it could be cheaper if you did that. Plus credit unions are non-profit for their member organisations. For the difference that's in it, I would go CU over Tesla finance for me anyway!

No credit union penalizes you for paying back early as far as I'm aware and most calculate your interest due daily.

My figures are not meant to be a recommendation but rather to highlight that the "cheaper" option may not always be the best option in the long run.

Ah sorry, misread your post there! Good point!

My ex Model 3 RWD showed iirc 439km when new and just before trading in (4 yrs old) showed about 410km. However on 100% before driving to collection centre was back up to 425km. I had technically signed over my car an hour earlier.🙂 Probably just coincidental.

My new Model Y RWD atm shows 434km.

Personally I find the EPA figure very accurate for my sort of rural driving, but apart from checking the odd time I leave on %.

Collected my standard RWD Model 3 today. Very simple trade in and collection process. First Tesla and EV for me and absolutely loving it so far. Won't bother with pics, it's stealth grey and I won't get a better pic than that above 😂

I said before I was a little apprehensive about the colour but I think it looks really well, kind of blue tinge off it with bluey/purple flecks... That's what I'm seeing anyway!

Well wear👍️. Report when you get a handle on range, efficiency, likes/dislikes etc.

I have the same colour Model Y. Filthy today and still looks ok, don't think I will be washing as much as my previous white Model 3.

Picked up my model 3 today. Pretty much all good though did spot a misalignment on the top crease between the boot and where it joins the roof on the left side as you look back, it's out a couple of mm, but was pretty much the same on all the other 3's around my car. So looks like a general manufacturing issue. The right side is spot on, so any possibility of correcting is a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul. Noted with tesla.....

Forgot to ask the tesla employees, wrt to LFP, what's sensible practice in charging limits, both min and max?

Congrats @this is it, you could have been there at the same time mid afternoon, loads of people coming and going

LFP, charge to 100% no bother, once a week if you can. Never let any EV linger in low SOC, I never leave mine below 20%

Best wishes guys with your new motors. I definitely think the stealth grey is the best colour too.

Had my first decent spin in it today, and it was excellent. The only gripe I would have, is that the autopilot is different to my old MY. There's two options to choose from, the basic traffic aware cruise control, which will drive the car while you steer, or the Beta version of Autopilot, which sees the road ahead and steers the car between the lines. I'm not keen on this option, as I think it forces the car too close to the left side of the lane and there's a bit of a jerk sideways if you put too much pressure on it making it turn off. The Model Y version had a third option which would drive the car too and keep the set speed, but without the Autopilot being on. So now if you change lanes the autopilot switches off completely, where the MY version would default back to the cruise control without turning off. A bit of a pain in the ass. I wonder is this only in the std. rwd version ??

Regarding LFP battery charging to 100% - I found this explanation quite useful

@Dunkmonkey My M3P is showing 389km at 80% right now.

I did a circa 400km round trip recently and arrived home with 7% remaining from a full charge.

Did you see the red performance? Way out of my league, but looked incredible!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,034 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

A credit union loan of 5.3% would be a bit on the high side. Green loans for example from St.Raphael's, the countries biggest credit union, are just 4.15% which would give a total cost of €36,556

Tesla finance would also require a deposit so there's that to consider also

You also fully own the car immediately with CU. Well worth a couple of hundred quid.

Had an update today so I let it install. Previously all of the seat functions were available on the screen at the same time, now I need to cycle through each one with steering scroll wheel... Seems unnecessary.
