Agreed. That spec at that price is now looking very attractive and will sell immediately…you were indeed lucky

We dropped into Sandyford yesterday while up in Dublin to have a look at the new RWD Model Y (Was the Standard). Wifey wants to change her Ioniq 5 soon, she loves my new RWD Premium; however she couldn't warm to the new base model, probably would have been fine if she wasn't used to my one already.

She did fall in love with the Performance version in the showroom though,… till I told her the price.😁. Looks fab in the new Marine Blue with the white interior.

Y L being rolled out in Australia, V2L (3.3kw) also, proper 6 seater with ample room in the back row

Picked up the model Y yesterday.

Was lashing rain so didn't really get any worthwhile pictures. Will throw some up once it dries outside. Have to say the silver actually looks really good on it!

Absolutely total different kind of driving experience with it.

It makes driving so much more simpler and actually enjoyable!

Noticed some small issues on the day.

Driver door seal had a bubble in it and frunk seal didn't look right on the bonnet.

Guy at Tesla said it was normal as it's soft and should sort itself out. Will see how it goes.

Noticed this morning that it looks like there is an ever so slight misalignment on the bonnet.

One sides gap looks slightly bigger. Not sure if I'm over thinking it and it's normal.

    Congratulations and best wishes.

Photograph and report any imperfections you find in the 'Service' part of app, however small and insignificant. Better now than in a weeks time.

Will take a month probably before they get to you and you can always cancel.

@honda boi Definitelely get it sorted, the lighter colours are very unforgiving for uneven panel gaps. The ranger will probably come to your place to align the bonnet.

I noticed that our front doors are quite heavy to close but the alignment is perfect and I suspect it's a question of allowing the seals to fully settle in our case. It's not like that the locking pin is misaligned or anything like that.

Also notice that our doors need a slightly harder push to close than previous Model 3, the seals seem tight, probably a good thing for quietness.

Talking Tesla in general, I'll have a look over the car when collecting but how long do I have to report those minor issues. Misalignments, bad paint, etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭rx8

Report anything you notice on the day to the staff there. Anything afterwards you notice, report on the app and they'll get back to you. No official timeline, but I wouldn't be leaving it too long.

There can be slight misalignment in the frunk lid.

There are rubber bumpstops that can be adjusted in and out by turning clockwise and counterclockwise.

Very straightforward to do. Give it a go!

An AI generated answer containing words such as "generally" and "usually" doesn't inspire much confidence in its accuracy

Fair enough just trying to help,I knew there was some kind of deadline because I bought a new M3 Highland last year.

Appreciate the response, so really, inspect thoroughly on site and check again when home and report via the app. Take pics, etc.

    First new car

They are generally good about fixing anything you may find, but the earlier the better. Taking loads of HD photos at the delivery centre may help if you discover something later. But difficult in the weather we have being having lately.

One member here discovered a small dent in his new car, when at home, cannot remember how long after collection. Iirc Tesla asked him to have repaired locally and they would pay the bill.

Here's one for the ether. Passenger side door handles were recessed, especially the rear one. Not much off, but I wanted to get it sorted. Also noticed the weather seal between the bottom edge of the rear window and the bootlid had come loose and was recessed several millimetres, a good 5mm in one section and more than enough to worry about water ingress.

Ranger called out and sorted the other bits on the service order, but didn't know how to proceed with the weather seal. Asked me how long I had the car. Told him I bought it new in July last year. He said the seal is only covered for 6 months. My brain went into "does not compute" mode. Couldn't believe what he had just said. I said it's not a wear and tear item so should be covered, the car being 8 months old and well with basic warranty. He said he would have to discuss next steps with the SC and would put in another service request. Quote is about €1,200 😅. I have accepted the review but asked them to confirm that it's covered under warranty.

Tell me i'm not mad to think that weather seals should be covered under the basic warranty. I'm concerned water will get into the bootlid and cause damage to the light bar, or locking mechanism.

Not a chance i'll pay them to fix this. I'll take them to court at the drop of a hat if need be.

    Anyone else had similar issues?

Ranger says he hasn't seen that seal fail before, but it's not exactly something that gets used, or touched. Only thing that contracts it is rain.

You must have some heavy rain at your house...

It should be covered under warranty without an issue.its a bit like where the seats on highland 3 cars were squeaking and Tesla responded that the seat wasn't covered by the warranty .

Unless there's something in writing saying it's specifically excluded, it's included

Even if it was a wear and tear item, sure we take our Teslas in for suspension refreshes under warranty 🤠

All he had to say was he'd consult with the office and get back to you - by doubling down and talking about it being excluded from the warranty is frustrating - of course it isn't!!

Yeah, i'll wait til I hear back, likely tomorrow. Want to give them a chance to make it right. Had some more rain yesterday and it may be nothing, but looks like water might have been coming out from behind the trim piece under the light bar. If it's found its way in there, it's not far from getting into lights and wiring.

Here's a couple of pics of the strip i'm talking about. Bit stupid to suggest it's not covered under warranty. The bonding must have just failed after improper installation and all the rain we've had this year.

    image.png image.png image.png

Might be worth checking if you have a Juniper. I just caught it by chance when I was brushing a leaf off the back window just above the worst part of the seal.

Notice the area the water streaks are on the boot line up with where the seal has failed the worst.

    Hi all,

Just getting around to writing this here now.

So I have done 1000km since picking up the model y last Thursday.

Have to say I will never go back to owning a petrol or diesel. EV just makes driving so much easier!

I travel usually 250km a day and never have had any range anxiety. First 2 days I charged to 90% just in case. But now I charge to 80% and it's grand.

Very smooth and quiet while driving.

Acceleration is absolutely insane. I've had fast motorbikes and the instant acceleration in this is crazy.

Efficiency is quite good. I drove it like my previous diesel, so not so efficient. I got around 17-18kwh per 100km. And that is with a lot of motorway speeds

Space is amazing. Lots of space for the 3 kids in the back. Rear screen is great as well. Eldest kid isn't happy because the middle seat isn't heated!

What's slightly annoying is you have to turn off the speed limit chime every drive.

Still have to figure out how to work out the car not locking itself if I have to get out and leave the kids in the car ., if I remember to turn off child detection then it's usually ok 😂

Autosteer is quite good when it works. Times it would just slam on the brakes for no reason, which is very annoying.

I have logged 4 issues in the service section on the app and need to book appointment time in sandyford. Anyone know if they give loaner car when work being done? Waiting for the service team to reply.

All in all the car is amazing. I'm saving €100 a week on fuel compared to my old diesel. And that's with normal electricity costs, not an EV tariff .

Quick snip of the car from Saturday when we had some sun! Silver actually comes out really nice!

17-18kwh per 100km is very good on motorway, can't see it getting much better than that

What's slightly annoying is you have to turn off the speed limit chime every drive

Can be permanently turned off via aftermarket products eg Enhance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,502 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

The chime can be permanently muted by just pressing the speed limit symbol.

It will still flash, but no longer chime.

Sandyford will give you a courtesy car if the work requires the car to be kept overnight, but not if it's a single day job.

What have you found on your brand new car?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 758 ✭✭✭This is it

I thought it was an EU thing that it had to be turned off on each trip? I mute it, but every time I get back into the car for next spin it's "bonging" again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,502 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Maybe it is different in the Juniper, but in the OG MY you can definitely silence it permanently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,719 ✭✭✭✭User1998

From 2024 onwards it needs to be switched off again after every journey. Similar to lane assist. It's an EU thing not Tesla specific

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,885 ✭✭✭eagerv

Every trip n the juniper. I personally don’t mind it, very easy to tap to quieten it.
Probably saved me a few points on the long new 80km/h limit on road from Glenmore hill into Waterford.

For the alarm/locking with kids in car.

Put the car into camp mode or dog mode when you're getting out. Swipe up on screen and it's at the top or can do on the app (climate section).
