The Russians and Chinese must be loving this.

Imagine Putin asking for help 2 weeks into his attack on Ukraine, saying, “this should always have been a team effort” 😄

Israel couldn't afford it without the States. They may be able to afford close range munitions to trouble Lebanon, Syria, Egypt but nothing more than that. $30 billion from the US every year keeping them in the game. No Iron Dome, no David's Sling. Thats before you add in indirect aid from US companies positioning themselves there who otherwise wouldn't. How would Ireland fare if we threw that much money into arms. We wouldn't last very long.

I think there's only one country who's population are likely to rise up and over throw the repressive regime and individual that governs them and it sure as well won't be the Iranian population.....

The GCC position is completely illogical. They are defacto supporting a country whose idealogy is to annex part of theres in order to support a regime that promises to protect them but has proven themselves incapable of doing so.

Huckabee openly stated the Israel has aspirations to extend the greater Israel project from Turkey to Saudi Arabia and frankly they should be allowed. Thats the stated position of the US ambassador and the stated ambition of Israel.

Had the GCC, and Europe for that matter, had any sense they would expel the US, isolate Israel, support Palestine and come together as an economic union.

The depravity of all of this really bothers me. I regularly pass by St. James's Hospital in Dublin and I couldn't imagine someone coming along and dropping bombs on the people working there. But not only are Israel doing this, we'll have people here and elsewhere somehow trying to justify murdering people whose job is to help people when they most need help.

The fastest way to deplete the munitions stocks of the United States and Israel?Inflatable hospitals.

They did it in Gaza for psychological reasons. The Gazans would have thought refugee camps and hospitals were safe but Israel reduced their morale even further by committing war crimes against them.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Iran is a legitimate target for Ukraine also, under the same UN charter.

Any European that commits any military assets to this should be taken out and shot. Imagine contemplating going to support a psychopath who only weeks ago tried to annex European territory and even left the threat of war in the air.

Not only did Israel kill those 12 medics, just prior to the strike, they dropped leaflets over Beirut warning Lebanon that Genocide is on its way.

    Haaretz:

Israel dropped leaflets over Beirut on Friday, calling on Lebanese residents to cooperate with Israel and warning of a "new reality" in Lebanon "after its great success in Gaza."

They played the same game in Lebanon the other day. Told people to get out of southern Lebanon. They went to camp on a beach, then they bombed the beech. You'll still have sickos on here arguing the Israeli position.

Is that not normal? Roughly same for Ireland, no? Except our energy minister Darragh O'Brien is erm er on a jolly junket in Brazil

Australia needs to have a serious look at itself. Unbelievable natural resources, endless solar, completely self sufficient in uranium yet they're still tied to the ME for energy.

On top of that they're jailing teenagers for 2 years for speaking out against Israel. They're America lite.

French telling Dotard to go bleep himself. Hope no one comes to their aid, I can’t see any euro countries joining tbh.

Stop the scaremongering': France says 'no' to sending warships to Strait of Hormuz

France will not be sending warships to the Strait of Hormuz, according to the country's foreign affairs ministry.

In a string of posts on X, the official response account of the ministry replied to the claims, saying "not true".

"No. The (French) aircraft carrier strike group remains in the Eastern Mediterranean," it said.

    "France's mission remains: Defensive. Protective.

    "Stop the scaremongering."

Another thing that came to me while I was just out for a walk is the respect people in Lebanon and Syria have for Irish people because of the peacekeeping work of our Defense Forces. On several occasions this was mentioned to me in both countries once the people found out I was Irish, I've read about this elsewhere too but can attest from first hand experience. And then to see these glib, smug posts gloating about dead Arabs is absolutely galling.

Western media has been dehumanising them since there was the printing press. The Americans regard them as subhuman. Trump thinks they're "shìtholes" but hes happy to accept their money.

Theres no doubt, the regimes in place in most of them are backwards bastards who subjugate their citizens but by all accounts the average MEastern and Persian are among the most hospitable people you could meet.

Israel running critically low on interceptors: Report

Israel informed the United States this week that it’s running critically low on ballistic missile interceptors as the conflict with Iran rages, a news report says.

The US news website Semafor cited unidentified US officials familiar with the matter as its sourcing.

The decision to attack Iran by the U.S./Israel will go down as one of the worst military decision of all time. Up there with Hitler invading Russia. Trump was still high from having captured Maduro from Venezuela that he had an exaggerated sense of America's ability and he completely underestimated Iran. Bibi went ahead because he realised Trump was the only President stupid enough to be his partner in this misadventure. I think Bibi deep down had to know it was a suicide mission. But it's been his life's work to fight Iran.

Essentially they wanted to strip Iran of the ability to defend itself and most likely break it up a-la Yugoslavia. Iran is massive. It is about 75% the size of Western Europe, mountainous, heavily armed and with a population of 93m people. Lindsey Graham let the cat out of the bag re a greater Israel. Lebanon is a basket case. Egypt is heavily dependent on American aid. Jordan likewise. Syria is destroyed. Iraq isn't in great shape either. Militarily Saudi Arabia posed no threat to Israel. Iran was the last bulwark against Zionist expansion.

    God, he's a f*cking sickener.

So he wants other countries to put their military personnel at risk to try and approach the Hormuz. Something that he and America started with Israel. Now he wants more countries to join them.

If he wants it open, the path is very clear for him to do that and that is a ceasefire with Iran. Stop attacking Iran.

    (Please F*ck off Donald).

Actually that's not the case - Iran now demands compensation for the war and also the removal of all US bases from the Gulf as a condition for any cessation of hostilities or reopening of the Straits.

Thanks for filling me in. I wasn't aware that Iran was looking for this. At the end of the day, as another poster said it's an illegal war so compensation is only right.

Wow, I saw a map online and there are loads of American bases all around the middle east.

Donald Trump has told NBC News that U.S. strikes on Kharg Island “totally demolished” most of the island, adding “we may hit it a few more times just for fun”.

He added he is not ready to make a deal with Iran to end the conflict because “the terms aren’t good enough yet.”
