Iran certainly has a head start.

But even Brutal Regimes need to time to get up to speed.

But Trump now has something in common with them, he is now killing civilians in Iran.

    But, but, but iTs DiFfErEnT!!

Aye, and I wouldn't argue with that at all. In fact, I'm using the non anti-semitic (vast majority) of those people as an illustration of how one can be anti-Israeli government without being anti-semitic. The USA gets a similar amount of flak from the same groups quite often.

But, anti-semitism still exists, and should be called out where it occurs, even if those people are also left wing, anti-colonial, anti-militarist, pro-pacifists. That should not be an excuse for anti-semitism.

(edited because I left out the keyword "non" which reversed what I was trying to say)

Trump is uniting the world against America. Many countries that need oil imports are in crisis already.

Stryker doesn't have a good health and safety record in their Cork operation, so it could be their using the current drama for what's possibly their own under investment.

Apparantly there was a navy base beside the Iranian school that was hit. What America and Israel did was deplorable because hitting the school not once, not twice but three times - that was not accident meant for the navy base nearby. Absolutely deplorable.

How Trump and his government are still allowed to be in government over there in America I will never know.

I would have thought that MM should go over the the WH and bitter him up but no, what America did was deplorable.

Trump is going around trying to defend his actions by making up crap about the Iranian leaders doing all sorts of things but how about look at himself and his own country and all that's going wrong - the guns and mass shootings in his country and a healthcare so expensive.

Why did they do it and why now? The after effects are awful for all of us and will likely lead to a recession. Not to mention the likely hood of displacing people into Europe yet again.

Does Trump and the American government have any plans to ease the after effects of this for us and how to calm things?

Apparently Trumps son bought oil, a lot of it, 2 days before those strikes.

Iran's greatest weapon is doubling the cost of filling Billy Bob's F150. Only 2% of the US population can get by on public transport alone.

    incredible stuff on previous page

Far Left: Ireland is neutral and should not spend on defence like them militant Europeans

Also Far Left: Attacks on Ireland {by a country that attacked bunch of neutral states} are “fair game”

Iran has laid a dozen mines in Strait of Hormuz - report

Iran has laid around a dozen mines in the ‌Strait of Hormuz, the Reuters news agency has reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The locations of most of the mines are known, one source said, but no US plan to deal with the devices was given.

Centcom announced a possible attacks coming on Iranian ports and urges civilians to stay away from ports with military presence.

Shortly after Iran announced that if our ports and docks are threatened, all ports and docks in the region will be our legitimate targets.

Similar after 2 banks were hit with missiles in Tehran overnight, they have told all civilians to keep 1km away from all US - Israeli linked banks in the region.

It's not only oil, there's food, fertilizers, precious metals that are used in the manufacture of semi-conductors, and a whole host of other goods that are shipped through the straits.

Once again the right wing has plunged the world into absolute chaos through brainless aggression.

And it's not like nobody saw it coming either. It's been known for years that one of Iran's major strategic options was cutting off transit to international shipping. It's one of the situations that always comes up when any kind of discussion about a possible attack on Iran is mooted. It was the same 20+ years ago during the US's last illegal and disastrous war in the middle east when you had idiots of a particular political persuasion saying that Iran should be next after Iraq.

This war, and it's Israel's war, is a bloody disaster for the globe. But they don't give a damn about us. They are more focused on their goal of greater Israel hegemony and everyone else be damned. Netanyahu has blown a substantial amount of smoke up Trump's arse about Iran's abilities to fight back being weak or non-existent and he knew the bloated orange clown would suck it all in. And now, Trump hasn't a clue how to proceed.

While Israel has been lying for decades about Iran being 2 weeks away from a weapon they weren't even interested in, Iran have actually been stockpiling weapons that they were interested in and now have thousands and thousands of cheap drones that they can call upon, which has shocked the hell of of not just the US and Israel, but the Gulf states too, who believed that allowing US to use their territories as bases would act as a protection of some sort. However, as they are now seeing, those bases were never about protecting the territory that they are based in and they're more about being used to extend US power instead.

It's not just the Iranians, but the whole of the middle east that have learned some valuable lessons with regards to Israel and America with regards to how they view the region and how little they can be trusted.

And it hasn't been pretty for them.

Jesus. Only Trump and Netanyahu could allow the Iranians gain the moral high ground.

There is more. Trump starting to get grief from the farmers now ahead of planting season. Unfortunately he put tariffs on Canada and China which are major producers. Obviously the main one Russia is out of the question, so a bit stuck really.

Literally on previous page this “drivel” {to quote yourself} was posted

”I’ve no opinion on Shannon, but if it were attacked it’s fair game”

Last I checked Shannon is in this neutral country and I would prefer we are not dragged into any wars

I think they’re saying that on the older maps they were using the school wasn’t there so they thought it was part of the naval base?

Either way they need to come clean immediately. Enough lies.

Trump is making George W Bushs middle east strategy look coherent.

There seems to be no plan B while plan A seems to be bomb Iran, day after day.

Yes I had so many positive interactions with Israelis too when I was there. It just really bothers me when I see the bile on these threads from people who've never been to the region, and have probably never met anyone from there, basically cheerleading their killing. I've said before, we as Irish people should know better, the British literally depicted us as apes in their propaganda.

It's gas. Bush and co's farce is actually looking like something planned by Sun Tzu or Von Clausewitz in comparison to the Trump administration's catastrophic calamity.

I really hope people like that are never let near the levers of power again. Every single day is a new black mark against them.

Did I read that correctly, Ireland being attacked is fine by yourself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 693 ✭✭✭Lawlesz

The drivel that poster mentioned is you repeating the same misinformed posts over and over.

It has been explained over and over (at a guess it’s probably been a dozen times) why the Iranians would attack countries who are hosting US bases which they could launch attacks from. It’s been explained why the Iranians might view those countries as legitimate targets given they are hosting the aggressor.

You just consistently ignore those points and continue calling them “neutral”. It’s not as black and white as you claim. You don’t have to agree with it, but you’ve made your point and it has been countered numerous times by several different posters. It’s bordering on disingenuous now how you continue trying to frame it.

And that seems to be a pattern you continue to engage in, repeating the same couple of points and no matter how many times it’s countered and shown to be wrong , you will start quoting other posters then and repeat the points to them. They will then counter it and then you rinse and repeat. It’s unbelievably tiring.

Just to confirm you also see no issue with Ireland being attacked and dragged into this war?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭Hodger

With International Women's Day having just passed, looking at the points made in the clip .

She makes some incredibly valid and heartbreaking points. It is honestly shocking to me how much silence there is from mainstream feminist groups when it comes to underage girls being legally married off to older men under the Iranian regime.

What's even more baffling to me is seeing self-proclaimed feminists—including some former TDs here—actually writing sympathy tweets when high-ranking Iranian regime officials die. (Like the bizarre outpouring of condolences we saw recently for their leaders/officials).

How do you square that circle? How can you claim your whole identity is about standing up for women's rights, and then turn around and publicly mourn the leaders of a regime that systemically oppresses women and strips them of their most basic human rights?

Given the absolute depravity that is completely legal under their laws—like the child marriage mentioned in the video—I shed absolutely zero tears for any of their officials who die or get killed.

My heart goes out entirely to the everyday civilians caught up in all of this. Specifically, the women and the young, underage girls who have no choice but to live under such backwards depravity. They are the ones who actually deserve our sympathy and our voices, not the dictators keeping them in the dark ages.

Honestly, and I almost immediately regret posting this, but you keep using the term neutral and seem to have absolutely no clue what it means. I'm not justifying attacks on these countries but who could possibly say that, for example, Qatar is neutral in all of this given the amount of American military they host? I think you mentioned Turkey at one point too, they're in NATO.

It's as if Trump was goaded into bombing Iran by Netanyahu and the neocon nutjobs with no plan whatsoever. Probably thought it would last two or three days, he would get all the plaudits from the MAGA crowd and the media and then move straight on to the next thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 693 ✭✭✭Lawlesz

No need to confirm something I didn’t say. Another disingenuous post from you. Surprise surprise.

Are you surprised? Trump said that dead Iranians were walking around with no legs the other day!!!

Iran is surrounded by countries that assist its enemies. The leadership has just been slaughtered en masse during negotiations and the regime is fighting for survival. Under such circumstances drastic measures should come as no surprise.
