He's 68 though, and he's giving it everything. He's never going to be as agile and nimble as the rest of the field. Certainly getting the popular/fun vote but he's putting the work in and isn't just coasting so fair play to him.

I guess I can't complain about the public vote as I have never voted!

I imagine the contestants friends and families make up the majority of the votes and Paudie has a great voting campaign..

    Jordan was truly gutted ☹️

Pros can also drag in a lot of votes. It's not unheard of for a pro to try and get all their students to vote for them.

Absolutely delighted that Katelin is in the final. If her or Tulu wins then brilliant but Paudie winning it would be so wrong so I might even vote next week and I have not so far this year.

A lot of pros would have dance schools or would teach people dance lessons. Xquisite is one dance school. Ervinas teaches lessons there

The Final is decided on the public vote only. For tHe last few weeks Paudie has the lowest Judges vote which make up 50% of the Votes on the night. He has survived every night which means he must be getting the highest public vote.

Should you decide to hold reality TV competition with a public vote he who pays the piper calls the tune. Paudie is technically the worst dancer. Life is not fair. Its not supposed to be. Paudie will more than likly win it.

GO PAUDIE GO collect that prize you should have won the Traitors.

I did not give any advice about voting. I just made the point that Paudie is probably getting the highest phone vote so he will have a great chance of winning it in the final when its phone vote only

At this stage, I've accepted that paudie will win it. I thought Jordan's and tolus dances were meh last night, paudie with Laura was very elegant almost like a bride dancing with her dad on her wedding day. The gagnam style dance has me in stitches laughing, whereas Jordan's beatles dance was boring, Eric was best trio dance.

It's more than the dance though, it's the staging, the song, the costumes and their popularity, and last night overall paudies was better in those areas. I remember Jordan's story of my life dance that saw him in the bottom two and the costumes, the staging, all brown and boring, even though the dancing was good.

I love the show our whole family watch it, and my kids have Paudie picked from the start, go Paudie.

I expect that half the watching audience were in stitches laughing at gagnam style dance, that's harley a compliment to Paudie though !

Paudie is the one laughing, what do they get 10k sign on and 1k for every week they survive. He also getting a bit of work advertising. Nice supplement to his pridion officier pension

Paudie has played a blinder. Despite not winning, can you even name anybody else from the Traitors?

    He's also bossing DWTS.

(obviously it helps that the other 'stars' are low wattage nobodies)

He will probably front a few documentaries or something next..... Who knows maybe he will present the Late Late Show or Prime Time!!

I think you may be wrong about the judges vote making up half of the votes.

What ever score the judges award the dancer each point is considered a vote and added to the public vote. So for example if Paudie got 20 from the judges yet two thousand people voted for him he would have 2020 votes.

My fathers family is from Limerick and there very loyal to there own.

No that's not how it works.

Last night the dancers are marked by the judges . Five dancers and the highest dancer gets 5 points, next gets 4 etc down to the lowest marked dancer (Paudie) who gets 1.

They then count all the public votes. Person with the most public votes gets 5, next gets 4 etc.

They then add the marks and then the two with the lowest combined end up in the dance-off.

So last night Jordan scored 3 from the judges, Tolu got 2 and Paudie got 1. That means for Paudie to have finished ahead of them, he would have at a minimum needed to finish third in the public vote (3 points) to give him a total of 4 with Tolu and Jordan finishing 4th and 5th for example.

That would have left all of them on a combined score of 4 points with Paudie going through because he scored the highest public vote of the three.

The beauty of it is that in the later weeks of DWTS, you can kinda figure out how popular people are based in the various mathematical permutations

The bookies think Katelyn will win. I'd take any of them over Paudie, but it may well be him.

We've had several winners on DWTS who were not the best dancer. Aidan O'Mahony (had to look up his name) and Carl Mullen come immediately to mind. Blu Hydrangea was better than Jason Smyth but he had the public's love.

A few other years that happened as well.

Johnny Ward was every bit as good as Mairead Ronan, if not better.

Ryan Andrews was far better than "Loddie"

Nina Carbery's year was an exceptionally close final where any of the 4 finalists deserved to win

Agreed, but they were at least also good.

Here's a theory. Paudie is so far ahead with the public voting that the producers know he's going to win. As a result, they're sugar-coating his performances, e.g. giving him the American Smooth on Sunday (easy to make him look good) and also the Gangnam Style routine - a "fun" routine again that was easy to make look (passingly) good.

They're doing this to save face and try to give some credibility to him if he wins. It's not like they're giving him a Jive or Rumba which would be car crashes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,025 ✭✭✭Bacchus

I reckon the producers are just asking themselves, how do we pull in the most votes so we make more money. I don't think they play favourites TBH, I think they're just playing to his strengths and what the public will react to, knowning that he's a money train with the public.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,176 ✭✭✭✭Heroditas

They have to be careful though because if it's too much of a farce, they could see sponsors have second thoughts about giving money to a show which appears to be ripping the piss.

The media coverage has been very I testing this week. Jennifer Zamparelli was interviewed in the Times and one of the subjects was her saying "not always the best dancer wins". I might be paranoid but c'mon, it just seems that they're doing their damnedest to give him credibility.

I won't be watching it live this evening. Mother's Day dinner etc and it seems like an awful anticlimax this year, particularly after last year's humdinger of a final.

I'd forgotten about some of the earlier personalities until I saw them on tonight's show.

Go Paudie, he should romp home on the public vote, unless he falls over or lamps Brian.

Katelyn is much better than the rest, outstanding performance and even looks like the traditional Snow White.
