So... An Irish version of Dancing With the Stars (known as Strictly Come Dancing on BBC1) will be broadcast by RTE1 in place of The Voice this January

    http://www.rte.ie/entertainment/2016/0803/806722-rte-swaps-the-voice-for-dancing-with-the-stars/

As a fan of the BBC show I myself am interested to see what RTE do with it and a little scared they'll ruin it for me but only time will tell!

What's the general feeling amongst fellow boardsies? Particularly strictly fans!

    I don't think I'll be watching. Sorry. :o:o

    Ooooh, dunno about that......

Where are they getting all the pros from, for starters? Do we have enough of them (and can we pay them enough) to fill an entire series? And that's even before we get to where they're getting all the "celebrities" (sic) from?

May watch the first one though my fingers from behind the couch, but cannot imagine it being a rip-roaring success. Sadly :o

Given the Irish propensity to take the piss, I'd expect our version of John Sergeant to walk it (pun intended).

No one there of interest to me.

Would love to know who the pros are.

Darren Bennet is the executive producer of the show. They'll be bringing in quite a few of the pros from abroad.

Oh I loved Darren when he danced with Jill Halfpenny.

Dancing with the RTE Stars should be the title.

    Who are the judges?

No reason that this can't be good though as most of the time I have never heard of the UK celebs as I don't watch soaps or daytime TV and it works out fine.

Interesting to see AJ's brother on there. Lots of young Irish professionals too which is good to see. More tempted to watch now.

Having Ryan and Ksenia as pros on the show is absolutely brilliant. Sean is really good as well. I've seen him dance quite a few times

Brian taught me to dance many years ago. I'm still awful at it though but that's in no way related to his teaching ability. I just have two left feet :D

Hope this fixes my strictly come dancing addiction for the meantime. Seriously having withdrawals.

Okay so my intention was to not go near this programme with a 10 foot barge pole as I'm expecting it to be absolutely shocking (I am a BBC Strictly fan for a long time).

BUT... I've just watched 'Can't Stop Dancing' on RTE1. AND... I'm cautiously optimistic!!

I'm impressed so far with the pro dancers, the judges and the while setup. Former Strictly pros Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova are the choreographers which is great.
