No the modules have fallen off a cliff on them. When I bought the entire pack of a Model S back maybe about 3 years ago, the modules went for $600-800 on eBay still. The guy had them advertised for €400 each (14 of them) on FB marketplace and had his phone red hot. I managed to get them all in a trade deal involving me helping him out in getting cheap parts, advising on his solar and battery setup and that of a friend of his

But now the Model S / Model X slabs simply seem a lot less in demand and prices are down. But hard to tell, there is almost no market for them here in Ireland. Very few enthusiasts around who play with this sort of stuff for home batteries or EV conversions. Maybe a few hundred people in Ireland. Out of 5 million

My buddy's has got some back issues, the Tesla is getting too low, so he bought himself a Range Rover. His facelift Model S is for sale effective immediately. Black, 172D S 75, 220k km, very good condition with a lot of upgrades recently done by Tesla including MCU2, cameras, all filters. 4 brand new Michelin tyres

Very good cash deal available for a quick sale, well cheaper than the cheapest facelift Model S on DoneDeal. It is not yet up for sale anywhere, if interested, PM me

For anyone who has charge port locking pin issues, or any charge port issue…ignore youtube! It's all wrong. There was an issue with my 2017 S where the charge port door wasn't closing after removing the charger. After a fair bit of trouble shooting, I narrowed it down to a 90% chance that the O-Ring on the pin shaft was swollen (that sounds so wrong 😂) and needed replacing alongside a module clean and re-greasing with automotive silicone grease.

Well, there is no O-Ring in the type 2 charge port module. There is also no need to remove the tail light and I figured that out before making that mistake. I cleaned the charge port module applied grease on parts I could see were rubbing. After re-installation, I had to do a power reset…12V battery & firemans loop job because I got low voltage errors and car wouldn't drive.

After all that, I calibrated the door and port and it seems to be back to normal. The hardest part was putting the carpet back into that section. What a feckin' nighmare that was. I noted a couple of missing clips, so I have ordered some replacements.

Lol. Nothing sorts a swollen o-ring on your pin shaft like a good re-greasing.

Beautiful looking Model S Raven in Beshoffs, did anyone here own that?

They're kidding themselves at that price.

Seems to be the going rate lately, originally a nearly 100k car, battery and drivetrain warranty for another 2.5 yrs, it’s a lot of car all the same no?

2019s aren't selling at 28k so not sure why they think a 2020 would go for 35k.

I was just curious but they do not seem to have a price for a brand new Model S on the Tesla website.

Not sold in RHD for years, fulfilling the last few orders in the US then the S is discontinued forever

Tesla won't give you a good offer on that car. Even back a few years ago they offered 4 digit amounts.

Why are you selling? How much are you expecting for it?

    €10k would be a realistic value. I sold a 2016 90D with 210k km for €12k

That was a prefacelift car though. @BigAl81's car is a facelift. Although a lot of people do not seem to appreciate these are so much better built and more reliable. As the price difference between them is only a few grand now

Even still, 290,000km will put most people off. Its practically impossible to sell a car with such mileage unless it's dirt cheap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,763 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Again, ignorance from the buyers. On a facelift Model S, that is only a fraction of the useful life of the car in terms of battery / drivetrain. But yes of course the higher the mileage on any car, the less valuable it will be. Personally I'd have no problem buying a 500k km facelift Model S

It isnt a facelift it's a frankencar. It's a non-nosecone car with AP1. These were during the crossover time and had the same niggles (sunroof, doorhandles, pyro fuse) as the nosecone cars.

Those are minor issues that affect all Model S. I am talking big stuff. Build quality, batteries, motors 😂

Talk about old Model S. Millennium Falcon is back with Valdemar for some work. 413k km on the clock and 13 years old. I got a new battery after a year, so most of that age and mileage is on the new battery

Degradation 23%, which I guess is par for the course

Wasn't really planning too, but a friend mentioned Tesla were giving extra good trade ins to try shift a few units, so said I'd check it out.

Surely it's worth more than 4k in scrap and spare parts. I'll drive her till she dies so, lovely machine and still enjoy driving it everyday 😁

The "extra good trade ins" are only ever on cars that Tesla will sell on as CPO. So typically only nearly new pristine low mileage Tesla cars. All other cars submitted for trade in, are just offered to the trade. Who will of course bid as little as possible and seem to get away with it. Tesla buyers seem to be mostly lazy / cash rich / time poor if they accept low trade in offers for their cars rather than try sell them privately. Which of course is a major hassle in fairness.

Has anyones insurance gone up recently.

My latest quote is €930, up from 700 last year, and was 500 a year or two before that.

No claims, full NCB, no points etc so seems a bit strange to go up by so much, but maybe that's just the market.

Age too. I know it's odd but for what ever strange reason it's cheaper to insure a brand new car.

Ah, hadn't thought of that one, the car is 10 years old now.

Same address, same job etc etc, but it's nearly doubled in about 4 years or so.

Same quote of €420 as last year, but I added a lot of extras like driving other cars with comp insurance - something that I have never seen before on offer and is very useful to me - total €500

It would be great to have such expertise in an independent workshop like that in Ireland. Would John Earls be the closest we have to a facility like this ?

There's a new one in Dublin 12 called EV Repair Centre. I was there the other day. It's a big operation already. They had about 20 broken EV's on site
