Tesla Model S

I hear ya. One of the reasons I have dithered and not pulled the plug yet.

Even the very best examples in the country at the moment are minimum 6 years old and in, or heading for, the danger zone of just such fiddly repairs.

And the prices being sought are just ludicrous - and not the good ludicrous!

I test drove that one last month, it's in great condition, and it's not a raven model, James May bought it brand new, and it features on his drive tribe YouTube channel, so it took a bit of abuse initially back in the day :-) - here it was on an auction site a while back https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2019-tesla-model-s-100d-long-range

yeah the history check showed it had different registration between uk and NI - but all checks out as it’s been owned and used in NI for well over 6 months + / they were also knocking 500 off the price and it’s currently on 19” wheels not the ones in the pictures, they’re an additional 1500. So it works out at approx 32k euro in total, like you said a little steep in price. Low mileage in fairness, but warranty is up in June of next year. Lovely car though, colour and condition are fantastic, but there’s cheaper out there

for sure, it’s been there a few months already, couple of ravens in Ireland at the moment too in DCEV but again a little spicy on price - so makes it more difficult to pull the trigger, and now Taycan and Etron GT prices are dropping which makes decisions more difficult 😂

They are the only EVs that would interest me as a decent step up from a Model S. But that said, from a software / UI point of view they might as well be 2 generations older rather than the 2 generations younger than they are based on age

Better built, better driving, more upmarket, more heritage, more luxurious. Lots of better things. But they are far from reliable with dealers still not very well equipped to handling problems. And I wouldn't touch either with a barge pole without a long warranty. Far riskier to spend €50k on an out of warranty Taycan (cheapest on DD at the moment) than €20k on an out of warranty Model S (cheapest facelift on DD at the moment). With a first year depreciation to come on the Porsche of the guts of €10k, as opposed to just a couple of grand on the Tesla…

Sorry I missed that. I've never had a Tesla of under 4 years old. Both my own Model S cars were CPO or ex-CPO with warranty remaining when I got them. First one was 5.5 years old in 2020, second one was 4.5 years old in 2022

And the flipper Model S I brought in from the north last year had zero warranty left

Which is a pity. I could see myself owning a Lucid Air. But so far none have even been made in RHD

It's the family car. I wouldn't mind a LHD car that much, but the other drivers would veto that instantly 😂

Particularly if the car has unsupervised FSD - enjoy the champagne on the way home 😂

I actually bought a 2016 Model S 90D last year for about that sorta money 😁
