I rang Pure enquiring when my contract ends, it's the 27th of this month they must have started me on the new contract when I rang last year as it was supposed to be April, that was a bit sneaky as I had a month left @€30 from the OBS deal. They offered me a renewal price of €40 which I declined. I'll try the OBS deal in the missus name and cancel on the 28th.

No, the contract doesn't include a fixed April price increase. It should be €30pm for the 12 months.

Pure have in the past increased prices mid-contract but because it's not specifically mentioned in the contract, if that happens you will be given a period to leave the contract.

Me too, I just changed from Sky to Virgin and see an improvement from average 100 to 250. 13 mths ago we were with EIR and had good mornings but below 50 most evenings. It might be worth asking the neighbours before changing, assuming that the speeds vary be location.

Credit is €105- today😣. Wish I'd concentrated on filling the oil tank last month, and left Broadband on the long finger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,442 ✭✭✭NotShero

You could cancel under your 14 day cooling off period, so I'd get in contact with Virgin and see if they'd upgrade it to the €105 credit

Dam, was €100 credit yesterday when I moved.
Who funds that when you can't get it direct from Virgin, commission Switcher pays back to the customer that it bills Virgin for obtaining them customers?

Cannot login to it, said no account linked, that's what brought it to my attention, looks like they took nothing since set up as only gave one current account and debit card, no credit card. No doubt they will want it all paid up

that’s a tricky situation, do you keep your head down or contact them and pay up 🤷

You might need to link the account to your Sky iD, make sure to scroll to the bottom and ensure Ireland is selected -

Linked my account, says I have Sky Ultrafast max package, click for latest bill, days same not available, run health check and says they are not my broadband provider, go figure?

Do I leave it , do I ring them, no doubt I owe someone money as nothing coming out of my account for BB or wait another month or two and just switch?

I’d be doing the latter and see what happens and fingers crossed you get it free for a year

I've noticed on sky account that the broadband(500MB) bill will increase with 3.5euro starting with 28th of April. The bill for 28th of March is same price.
I have not yet received an email with the option to exit the contract due to increase.
Usually how long before the increase this email is sent?
Can I call sky an negociate or cancel the contract before I receive this email?

and make sure that no active direct debit exists, it's always easier to contact and reason with companies before they get paid.

Anyone know the phone number to haggle/cancel Sky?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,236 ✭✭✭wassie

    Google is your (AI) friend…

    https://selectra.ie/broadband/providers/sky/contact

Be aware calles to 0818 numbers from a non-sky phone or mobile may carry charges depending on your telcos plan. If you can use the 150 shortcut from a sky phone service.

You should receive it at least 30 days before the increase. Once you receive the email you can call Sky to re-contract, give your cancellation notice or provide your UAN to a new provider to switch, as long as you're staying on the same access network (open eir, SIRO, NBI).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 258 ✭✭serox_21

    @NotShero thanks for the confirmation.
I checked my emails and last year I got the email on 13th of March. I will wait for the email and call them after.

Thanks for that. I am currently with Eir (500 Mbps Fibre) and would like to switch to Pure or Vodafone without any hassle, therefore trying to match the same network operator. The below are available at my location - I guess I am on Open Eir but how can I find out my access network?

You can check which ONT is on your wall. If it's a Huawei ONT, it's open eir. An NBI ONT will have their logo on it and that's a Nokia ONT.

Your UAN should be listed on the eir bill to give to the new provider and ask them can you stay on whichever current network it is.

    Anyone on digiweb?

I think i might be switching to them from pure.

Can i keep the same settings in my router do you know? Im not using the modem the isp provides.

Also any referral codes to avoid the 30 euro activation fee?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,442 ✭✭✭NotShero

    PPPoE Username - digiweb@nga.digiweb.ie / digiweb@siro.digiweb.ie

    PPPoE Password - digiweb

    VLAN ID 10

Sometimes the username and password doesn't need to be changed and it'll just keep working

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 494 ✭✭in2dark

Thanks! I am on siro so will use the second username you provided.

Now all i need is a referral code for both of us to earn the 30 euros.

    Thanks!

Got my end of contract email from sky. Just says log into my sky for latest offers and the offer is €10 off 500mb broadband. So 50 instead of 60 per month.

    No mention of TV.

I can get 1gb with TV from eir for €55. That seems to be the best if I wanted to step up speed and still come in under sky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,236 ✭✭✭wassie

Is that a 24 month contract? If you get Amazon Prime and €100 credit its still a reasonable deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,478 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Yeah that's 24 months. I pay for prime separately already so that is a nice saving.

Vodafone seems bonkers money after 6 months. So unless sky offer me the same I'll move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,236 ✭✭✭wassie

Signing up in March you will only have one price rise in April next year, so you actually get 13 months at the current price. Then its an additional €4 x 11 months extra with the price rise. You will be €56 better off after the €100 credit is applied. Happy days!

I got an email from Sky about the broadband price increase and that I can cancel without penalty. I have Siro.

I’m going to go with the Pure offer of €30 a month. This is Siro as well.

Will Pure handle the switch over fully? I probably don’t even need to contact Sky?

Yeah you shouldn't need to tell Sky. You'll need your SIRO account number for the switch, it should be listed on the bill, if not you'll have to contact them.

Then just confirm Pure Telecom are going to use SIRO and give them the SIRO account number. The Sky account should cancel when Pure Telecom has taken over.
