I bought them on amazon uk, search for 1ml 31g 8mm dispensing tools, you can buy them in 10s, 20s etc and they are reasonably priced

Delivery the 5th dose using the kiwi pen, instead of extracting it was a seperate syringe. Thats all. It does work, just takes a bit of twisting force.

I’ve bought the insulin needles on amazon and its very straight forward to get it out

I’ve loads of them spare if anyone needs them. Come in individual packs of 10. Bought a box of 100 from MedSuppliesUK, or something like that.
Happy to send on a few packs if postage is covered.

    Started Mounjaro on saturday.

I had a dreadful night sleep with stomach upset last night.

    I’m still suffering.
I hope it subsides as I can’t do this every week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,954 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

Normally only happens on 1st jab of new dose. Doctors will prescribe some meds to help that. Try motillium or Buscopan.

Don’t give up after a couple of days

Thanks, I got something it the pharmacy.
The other side effect was like weird smelling burps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,885 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

I get the burps as well. My very basic research on the matter is that because digestion is slowed, the smell is a result of food staying longer in the system and essentially going rotten (for lack of a more appropriate term).

I've also had similar stomach issues to yourself. For me, it's never really gone away no matter what I take. It does ease off as the week goes on but after jab Sunday evening, i get little to no sleep Sun or Mon night. I started on 2.5mg and moved up monthly to 7.5mg. At 7.5mg it was really tough, and when I noted same to my gp he said for me to stick at 5mg for a few months and see. He said trying to treat the issue with stronger medication than buscopan or motilium would be a never ending cycle of treating symptoms hence go back to 5mg. On month 3 of the 5mg and still having the same issues but not as bad as at 7.5mg.

so.. 3 weeks on the 0.5 Oz and I have only lost another 0.5 Kg.

6 kg in first 4 weeks and only 0.5 the Last 3 weeks

I am doing everything the same.. to say am disappointed is an understatement . I really expected to see another 4kg gone

Onto the 1.0 in 2 weeks, hopefully a bigger decrease into March.

If I haven’t lost another 6-10 kg by end of March back to doc and see what’s next? Maybe change to MJ

    Hi,

I recently signed up for Mounjaro with mybmi. I have an Irish Life Health insurance Benefit plan, which covers Consultants.

Today, received correspondence from Irish Life advising I am not covered (I think they are treating this as a Doctors Visit), has anyone experienced similar?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,029 ✭✭✭Juran

Going to submitt mine to Irish Life in the coming week for 2025. I expected them to reimburse 75% of the consulting fee. My understanding I add it as GP visit. Which service did you select ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 106 ✭✭PatMurphy021987

It might be due to a different policy, I have a benefit which doesn't cover GP visits but covers Consultants.

It doesn’t burn fat, it only suppresses appetite. Increasing the dose will only increase the suppression.
If you’re not losing weight at the moment, you’re probably taking in too many calories for more rapid weightloss.

Yeah, I think I mentioned that I did my own home smart scale impedance readings but regarded them as inaccurate as to specific number, but good for following trends (which they worked well for). I dunno - maybe I am being optimistic, but the above would mean that my 10 year old €100 home smart scale (which puts me at a significantly higher body fat %) is more accurate than the one used by the occupational health provider (eight electrode supine thingy - not one of those stand on it and hold the handles jobbies) and I have to wonder how likely that is? I've actually looked into getting a Dexa scan previously but it seems to be surprisingly difficult to get one for body composition, at least in Cork anyway. I'm into the Bons hospital next week though for an ECG so I'm going to swing by radiology and ask them is it something that they do to try and get confirmation one way or the other - but I think they may only do this in Tralee.

am tracking everything.. barely hitting 1000 calories per day ( 1600 set) ..and am walking and an additional 300 in deficit so eating 1000 from a possible 1900

Will keep an eye on it

Well then, there’s every chance you’ve gone too far the other way and your body has gone into starvation mode and is trying to hold onto everything it’s getting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,954 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

mmm.. possibly.. but as mentioned.. I was the same for the 1st 4/5 weeks

Yeah, but it’s not a linear process. Your body isn’t designed to just lose weight because you’ve decided to. It’ll try sustain itself as best it can. Which is why it’s a piece of piss to gain weight and hard as flog to lose it.

Don’t over think it. It’s a meaningless number really. Lost the 30lbs. Do another scan, expect the lean mass/bf% will to shift, so you’re not invested in a particular outcome.

    Hi everyone

Just a few updates to give, and a couple of comments on the above posts…

I had surgery two weeks ago and the surgeon requested that I stop taking MJ two weeks in advance of surgery. This is fairly common I believe, as they want your stomach to be completely empty before a general anaesthetic, and MJ might interfere with that. In addition, I had a number of injections to take for five days post-surgery, and the surgeon requested that I hold off taking my first returning MJ dose until that regime was complete.

I didn't feel any increase in appetite for the first ten days after stopping, but I did feel like I was eating more in the few days coming up to surgery. As I wasn't mobile at all for a week after surgery, I definitely felt like the appetite was back full time, and it didn't help that I wasn't out walking or taking any exercise. So when I weighed myself last week, I had put on five pounds. Not a huge amount but still enough not be water weight or a random fluctuation (though I did have some swelling that might have been part of it).

I had been on 7.5mg for maintenance but I was reluctant to take that for the first week after a three week break. So I took 5mg on a Wednesday, and when there was no sign of side effects, I topped up with another 2mg on the Sunday. Wednesday of this week I took 6mg and will top up again with 1.5mg on Sunday. After that I'll be back to the full 7.5mg dose every Wednesday. I weighed myself yesterday and three of the five pounds put on are gone, so we're going in the right direction.

Just a couple of comments on the above posts:

Deep Thought - stick with it. I have found some months on my journey to be very slow, or to be totally stalled, even though I had not changed calories or lessened my exercise. I know it doesn't make sense when your body does this, but you have to trust the process and be patient. Have a weight in your head that you would like to have lost in six months, and if Ozempic doesn't allow that to happen for you, you can then think about changing to MJ. If you're getting good appetite suppression on 0.5mg at the moment, I wouldn't immediately hop up to 1mg just because the label tells you to. That's when you run into more debilitating side effects. I would count the clicks and go up to 0.6mg for a couple of weeks, and then 0.7mg for a couple of weeks, and see if the weight starts going down again without overwhelming your system.

Golden Dose - I had been using those longer syringes from Amazon to extract the Golden Dose. It worked fine, but the injections always stung a bit more and I found it difficult to get the angle right. So I tried turning the pen with a pliers and it worked! If you are counting clicks, just be aware that the pen doesn't click when you are forcing it to turn, so keep an eye on the little dose window and you'll just have to count the lines as they pass. Way easier than the syringes!

Thanks for the feedback..I have an amount to loose in my head. Given the initial loss of 6kg, i though it would take 3.5 months to loose the 20kg I had hoped, but haven’t lost same in 2nd month ( so far). I am hoping that the 1mg kickstarts it again.

Working in biotechnology, I have the science behind it all.. but obviously not the whole physiology bit.

    Hi,

I got my first order of Mounjaro on the 12th Feb 9 from myBMI, My assessment was done on the 8th.

I may not be able to order the next dose until the 12th of Mar, so if it's more than 4 weeks, will I still be able to move up the dose?

Can anyone give me an outline as to what's involved in the next consultation with mybmi.

    Thanks

    Does anyone change their supplier.

My gp has me on mj so I have my prescription. I was sending it to a pharmacy in the north and it was being dispatched to me. I'd one month left but they no longer post direct so they are returning it to me.

Did anyone use bolt. I ordered from them and got a higher dose for cheaper using discount code.

I'm back with my gp this month and thinking once I have my new 3 month script I'll try a different chemist in the north even though if I was to order it without a prescription and moving suppliers it'd be cheaper. I'll remain under my gp care regardless as rather be monitored. Just wondering where others get theirs.
