Hey new to this but got an Xbox today and was wondering if it’s worth getting Flight Sim for it?

Picked up FS2020 on Steam this week after using FSX for the guts of 20 years….

Total time played so bar: 7.8hrs

Verdict: a steaming pile of pi$$ (looks amazing though)

Please tell me it gets better with more use/fine tuning/completely re-learning how to flight sim…?

It’s worlds ahead of anything that came before it. Once you get used to its intricacies you’ll be flying, pun intended. Addons add to it a lot too. My personal recommendations are the Fenix A320 and PMDG anything! Trust the process, it’ll be worth it!

I think I'm slowly getting there, and I have to essentially start from the beginning again..

Biggest adjustment will be the loss of the 2D cockpit which I was a fan of…

Lots of AI assists and some are helpful and some are annoying…

Also in FSX I had my aircraft that I liked flying, and don't have them as much anymore… (Cessna 172, but I don't like the G1000)…

I think I need to just go through all the tutorials again and 'learn it all' again..

Nah, I've put in at least another 6-8 hours on this and I think I'm done with it… In FSX I'd mostly fly IFR and simply pick a plane, a route, and fly it, and it was very simple to do, mostly using autopilot followed by an ILS approach..

Here the planes just seem to want to do their own thing mostly…. I was flying an A320neo and I set my altitude to 13,000ft, AP on, and the plane is climbing as expected, and then suddenly levels out at 5,000ft.

I'm now flying a Cessna 172 from Liverpool to Dublin, IFR, set my altitude in the plan to 5,000 and as soon as I depart, ATC wants me up to 8,500ft, and then 13,000ft… while all my waypoints are still at 5,000ft as per my flight plan..

Last Friday I actually went back into FSX to do a flight and it was glorious to be 'in control' again….

Visually though, MSFS2020 is stunning.. as upon initial setup, it recommended me set everything in graphics to ultra as I built a fairly strong gaming PC.. except……………

except where are the Poolbeg chimneys??? They are in FSX, but not in 2020! I've even downloaded an extra pack with Ireland POI's etc, and there's no Poolbeg Chimneys!! That's unforgivable…….

Anyway, I'm sat here now for the next 30-40 minutes or so listening to an AI ATC tell me to "please expedite my climb to 13,000ft" every 4-5 minutes…

    The joys..

edit: and also, every voice, every ATC, every other plane out there… it's all the same voice!! that's a step down from FSX..
