Had seen that one, thanks. But I've seen other ones that have the filter in the other slot! So still unsure!

Sounds like you'll be grand so.

Our first and other EV is a Tesla, so in terms of software it's a hard call, because the Tesla tech is pretty hard to beat.

But have had no issues with the ID3 at all, software is a little more clunky than the Tesla but it's a great little car. It'll do similar trips to yourself, won't leave the county too often and will do the odd 300km round trip, assuming it will need a charge stop somewhere along the way

Im not sure which size battery a pro max comes with but -assuming minimal battery degradation -if its 52kWh (unlikely I think) that equates to c.17kWh/100km which would be pretty average efficiency for an id3 in mixed driving. If its 58kW that equates to 20kWh/100km which would be typical efficiency at mostly motorway driving at 120km/h. If the battery is 77kWh that equates to 26kWh/100km which would be approaching fat etron levels of inefficiency. You'd have to be doing 140- 160kmh to achieve such levels in an id3.

I would only have direct experience of this from driving in "Germany" of course.

The updated 2027 ID3will be unveiled on 27/28 march. What changes can we expect?

If they want to properly compete with Tesla it will need far better warranty and servicing requirements than the current model for a start

won’t be much in it as it’s really a run out model on current platform. New front and rear lights, some minor bumper changes to look more like the new id polo. Some small efficiency improvements and probably more buttons on steering wheel and interior. Possibly upgraded interior materials all around.

Be interesting to see do we still get the great value gtx pp here, or will that be gone with the facelift and reappear as a real end of life thing in a year and a half or so.

I think the most interesting thing for me would be on the efficiency/range front for the current 59kWh model. Will there be a new motor and will there be improvements made to the drive train - any changes to the battery chemistry etc. ?

The app350 motor which replaces the current app310 will be more efficent. Trials on the small battery ID4 provided 40 more kms. The WLTP should be closer to 475kms for the 59kw battery. Much better software and buttons similar to the IDPolo. Vw say the battery is new and more efficent. All will be unveiled on 27/28th march.

Anyone know the boat that the current stock is coming on, or how to track it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,518 ✭✭✭mr_edge_to_you

MV Future Way is the next ship due in from Emden. Hasn't departed yet.

There's another vehicle carrier due in but that's coming from Zeebrugge so I presume it's not VAG.

Currently waiting on an Elroq that was ordered in October and built in 1st week of Jan.

I’ve been told the cars are on the boat, and we should have it at the end of this month or start of next. Not sure what that means regarding which ship.

New version of ID.3 and Born will allow Waze be displayed on larger steering wheel display. Traffic Assist 3 should stop and start for traffic lights by itself.

MV Future Way is moored in Dublin. Hopefully that's the one with our new car on it!

The 2021 ID3 I bought a few weeks ago is in the garage already!!

Wife came home from a drive the other day saying the car felt like it was wobbling a bit. I went out to it and could actually move the rear wheel by hand while it was parked. Felt very loose. Checked the wheel nuts, all tight. Found a bolt in behind the wheel that was loose - some suspension part I think.

Dealer came and collected it straight away to be fair. Garage said wheel bearing needs replacing.…so I dont know what caused the other part to be loose - can dodgy wheel bearing do that....it wasn't making any noise. Cars/mechanical work is not my strong suit.

I know parts like this can just go with use, but car went though NCT the day before we collected it, so I am surprised! Fingers crossed it's all good once sorted!

it should be perfect once fixed - you’d prefer suspension or wheel problems all day versus electrical or battery

Have being doing a deep dive in AI on the new facelift id3s and borns. Some interesting things emerging. The id3 neo pure gets the new app350 motor with the Lfp battery. The pro model is sticking with the app310 motor and nmc 59kWh battery combination. The Born equivalents get the app350 motor in born/born + and endurance models. Can't confirm this but is a bit surprising if true. Some interesting points also with Euro 7 regulations impacts - 1 pedal driving intro is a response to meeting more stringent requirements on limiting brake dust (more regen/less braking) - battery health requirement of 80%/100k kms after 5 years and 72% ? After 8 years/160k km. Also software must allow for battery health monitoring- SOH measurement. This is what I've got after asking specific different questions and generally getting consistent responses. Some of this may bs - but it is what I'm getting. Appreciate comments on the reliability of this info.

I guess the big question is if the app350 is more or less efficient than the app550 that the gtx currently uses?

The app310 is the original motor used in the id3 since 2020 is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 491 ✭✭Ev fan

Yes. As I understand it the app310 motor is the original one. The app350 is the new upgraded version of the 310 being more energy efficient and has more torque. The app550 is a relatively new larger motor which is coupled with the 79kWh battery for applications where more power is needed- again it is very efficient and has more power and torque.

One to keep an eye on - VW recalling ~100k EVs across ID and Cupra familes

I could have sworn that the auto wipers worked before in light rain with stalk set to intermittent.

But on a long drive yesterday, nothing happened at all no matter how long I waited for them to wipe in the rain , even went through the sensitivity setting from 1 to 4 on the stalk.

Is that normal or how do the auto wipers work?

Also, is there a way of seeing the estimated battery upon arrival through Android Auto Navigation?
