I hope you are right and we will see on Sunday i suppose.

Last year was it not a victory against Louth on a wet Sunday afternoon in a less than comfortable fashion that kick started our campaign and saw us then beat Down with a much better performance on a Saturday evening in Breffni?

I’m hoping for the same run of results. I remember thinking Louth were poor last year, we didn’t play well and beat them, so they can’t have improved that much in twelve months.

Hardly call Louth poor, well no poorer than us anyway. Beat them 2 years in a row but the one in Ardee we rode our luck. They cut us open multiple times first half with direct running. Thought we were in big trouble at HT but they completely lost their discipline second half and weren't focused on football. Last year we fluked a goal or 2 I think in a poor game. There was little really between the two teams.

We're hardly stronger this year and look very dodgy at the back when teams run at us. That's something Louth can exploit. So I wouldn't be confident at all. Coin toss at best but our defense worries me.

After all the changes to the Juvenile competions is there a fixture plan out yet?

I’m hearing a lot of clubs aren’t interested in the new minor competitions. Having 17 and 18 year olds playing blitzs was always going to be a ridiculous proposition. No proper game until the last week of April.

If the proposals weren’t a full suite of measures for all age groups, I don’t think the minor aspect would have got through.

This has to be the worst opening 15 minutes from a Cavan team in a long time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭large_palette

Getting cleaned out at midfield. Our own kick outs are a shambles and we aren't even contesting Louth's. We could be 12pts down after 15 minutes. Way way too passive. This could get ugly if we don't pull up our socks sharpish.

This is terrible we have no business being in Division 2

    McCabe go on home

that’s absolutely shocking stuff! Getting a hiding on our own turf,Do cavan lads know how to defend at all.

if this doesn’t improve in the second half serious questions have to be asked of McCabe…cause this is bad!

Pathetic, up against a wind so we just completely stand off Louth so they kicking scores for fun. Kick outs an absolute disaster as well. Bull McCabe roaring like the clueless fool he is on the sideline.

Embarrassing all round, 13pts down at home and making Louth look like Kerry

s.Too easy for Louth. Cavan lads pretending to go for the ball but not really going for it. Gutless.

    Atrocious.

Whole set up players & clowns on the sideline are a shambles

mc cabe has brought the senior team down to the same standard he has the development of our underage teams……big change needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭Custard_Cream

I have a feeling the anger around the county will really heat up after tonight and what he has been let away with for the last 10 years.

Maybe we needed this - I always felt Galligans wins painted over the cracks the last few years .. We are going nowhere in a completely failing structure .

And who do you think is going to hold him to account? The man runs everything in around Breffni.

Sad to see Ciaran Brady and Gerry Smith hauled off. They’d be right to walk to the car and keep going.

Same goes for Clarke from Ballyhaise that got 15 minutes.

Couldn't believe he hauled both of them off before Cian Shackleton who managed to last the 70 minutes and couldn't hire a barn door for most of it.

Less than 4,000 in the park, I know game was on TV but sizeable support from Louth and unfortunately just complete apathy now in Cavan, hate to say it but McCabe going nowhere with the county board currently in place, the gobshites think we need to spend millions on Breifne, for what the place will never be full unless they decide to host a Ulster final there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 600 ✭✭✭Thunderbirds

The worst was bringing on injured player at half time in a game that was already over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Breffniblue71

agreed, goes back to strength and depth in the panel. Genuinely who keeps mc cabe accountable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 shanemcgerts

Such a sad sight, McCabe is not the man for the job and never was, but runs the roost and can do whatever he likes.

County board need a good kick up the arse, blind leading the blind.

I got a strong challenge for this post and I wish I'd been wrong but sadly not. We are a team on the way down, we've nothing coming through. We've put a baying ass in charge who is the primary cause of us having nothing coming through. We played a team who've really got their underage conveyor running with great success, who won Leinster and easily bet Tyrone. They are better than us and we are a shambles. But dont expect anyone be allowed ask Big Dermo a question, he doesn't answer to us or the media. As for the county board, shame on them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,721 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

At least Dermo is consistent, he sent Fintan Reilly out to talk to TG4.

I feel it will also be alot of people's last game out for a good while and who can blame them.

    1. Nothing at all from kickouts, Brady has some of the blame but the majority lies with management here, no movement, no decoy runners and a lack of quality in the middle of the park.
    2. Defensive structure is non existent, playing a zonal defence but all the opposing team has to do is pass it around and they will always have a free man.
    3. Attacking structure is pathetic, relying on frees and Paddy Lynch far to much. We turnover the ball, and actually don't attack until the opposing team gets their structure in place.
    4. Generally still playing the old rules, slow lateral passing.
    5. McCabes attitude on the sideline, could hear him clearly from the terrace again today.
    6. Obviously theres fear in how we play, don't go for two pointers unless we are behind and desperation takes over.

All in all we are a poor coached team with no game plan, some of the best players sitting at home due to pig headed ignorance and a county board who won't sack the man ever. To think of it, Senior manager, games development manager, upto his neck in Cavstream so that's 3 paycheques from the county board, in his time with the county board

    1. Took one of the best underage structures in the country (4 Ulster U21s) and very good minor teams and absolutely destroyed it.
    2. Actually took a job with a rival team and held onto his numer as GDM.

Now how the successful under 21 teams went from pushing a Dublin team (how many multiple All Ireland winners were on that Dublin team) all the way, to one Ulster title is an absolute disgrace and also suggests theres major issues with the county set up going back a long way. Look at players who have walked away over the last decade or so, something is rotten in Cavan football.

Now instead of investigating in youth set ups they are going to spend millions on redeveloping Brefini, for what ? For us to be playing London, Waterford and Wicklow and no one been there.

The only way to change this for the the clubs to speak up and the only way this will happen is with a mass boycott, no attendances at club games, no attendance at inter county fixtures. Unless the county board starts losing the one thing they like more than McCabe, money, he will still be manager, still be GDM and still the main man when it comes to football in Cavan..

Theres people I know who have went across the length and breath of the country following Cavan for decades who will not be in Tullamore, Celtic Park or Clones and its not because we are losing, they have seen poor times, it's because of how the whole thing is been ran..

We never stood a chance against Louth, I couldn't figure out how anyone thought we ever had. They were miles ahead in a long time.

    Just a few questions

Who is not on that panel that should be on it, that would make a difference.

Lads calling for McCabe out, who else put their name in when the job was advertised. Only Reilly and McCabe as far as I know.

County Board outdated bunch of imbosils, appointed on who you know not actual talent and flair for the position, and that's all positions.
