Email received in the last few minutes

    Dear Customer,

We are writing to inform you that the NissanConnect EV app currently linked to your vehicle <serial number> will cease operation from 30th March 2026.

This will affect Nissan LEAF produced up until 2019 and eNV200 vehicles produced up until 2022.

The discontinuation of the NissanConnect EV app is related to the legacy architecture of the current platform. The current platform cannot be upgraded to support future enhancements or align with our ongoing development plans.

As a result, you will not be able to use your NissanConnect Services remotely through the NissanConnect EV app as well as certain map-related features will no longer be accessible in affected vehicles from March 30th, 2026.

We want to reassure you that the key features such as Climate Control Timer and Charging Timer are accessible directly from your car’s Navigation Infotainment System. For further guidance on how to use on-board features refer to the Nissan Drivers Guide app or your Owner Manual.

Nissan remains committed to delivering the next generation of connectivity solutions to anticipate and meet the evolving needs of both current and future customers.

Thank you for being Nissan owner and for your support.

    Best regards,

    Nissan

Anybody know if there's a 3rd party or WiFi based solution to this?

Yep got the same mail and wondering similar.

That's a shame, the remote heating and cooling was an essential part of our purchase decision process back when we had one

I posted a solution for earlier cars in this thread a while back. It's not for the faint hearted.

I have heard of OVMS is that what you had posted a while back? I've heard for the 2018+ model year leaf it's even more difficult than it was on previous models

This is no strange thing to us 2011 leaf owners lol. I just use the onboard timers.

Looks like it accepts a standard festoon bulb:

BTW no internal lights on a car are halogen, only headlights are

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

That's fair but some people might want a bit more functionality that they were told they would have when they bought the car, and that is fair too

so the 2020 and greater models have a stay of execution as no such alert for me.

i think those that have the 2018 and 2019 40kwh 62 kwh versions for this got a poor deal. are they not the same model?

Might be an idea to use LeafSpy (dongle about 30 quid, app is 15) to check battery in general but that will also tell you your software version so you can see if it has already been updated or not. Double check online but I think it the battery code ends with an A or B it has not been updated, C means it has been updated.

Is anyone going the opencarwings route? My biggest loss will be being able to stop charging at 80%. I use it almost daily and the remote climate control is very handy too, after standing at the side of a cold pitch for an hour+, having a prewarmed car to get into is a must 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,031 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Opencarwings was for cars that used the carwings app. Anybody affected by the latest announcement was using the Nissan EV connect app so that particular solution won't work

There is a solution in OVMS for our cars but it requires replacing the SIM card, which is a very tedious and long process

A hevra mechanic or range therapy could potentially make a few quid by offering the installation if they're smart about it

Pretty sure that the Nissan App was stated to be available for a limited time, I remember mine stopped working and upon enquiry Nissan told me it was only a 3 year service but they were extending and they did something to "sign" me up for another 3 years, car sold since then

Have any other manufacturers withdrawn online services for EVs apart from Nissan?

We have a 2018 40kWh Leaf and are disappointed with this, no real warning either from what I can gather.

Yes, until after 2030 if memory serves was what was stated when I first bought the car.

Acura, a luxury brand from Honda, only available in the Americas, have lost a similar app. Seems to be a Japanese automaker thing. Yeah a months notice isn't great in fairness

They're the only car manufacturers that have gone to such extremes. EO have done similar for their home chargers and GM removed Carplay and Android Auto, but only from new models, from 2024 onwards

When looking at non-car brands it's akin to meta sunsetting their portal devices.

On the other end of the spectrum, 2012 model year Tesla's are still receiving full software and security updates

Interesting, so we have 2 solutions but sadly both require access to the SIM card module, which in a 2018+ leaf is gonna be tricky, to put mildly

I was doing a bit of research this afternoon and its certainly not clear. It looks like some AZE0 came with the newer style head unit with Carwings and others with Nissan Connect. I think Nissan then rebranded Carwings to Connect as the owners with Carwings units received a notice that Connect was being terminated last year so this just adds to the confusion. I'm hoping there's enough similarity that it will work, its worth a shot at least.

Looks like it's supported, but may need some soldering depending on the presence of a sim card holder or not! https://mynissanleaf.com/threads/reverse-engineering-telematics-unit.36889/page-13#post-668860

I'm not familiar with this solution, but I thought that these aftermarket SIM replacement options were still using 2/3G networks? If so, surely they wont get around the issue that the TCU doesn't support 4/5G?

I think the AZE0 is 3G and that will be around for a while yet, even another 12-18months would be worth the effort.

Unfortunately I expect they are p**sing into the breeze on that one. Nissan won’t give a hoot about anyone with a 2019 Leaf.

My 151 Leaf failed the NCT earlier. The one issue was a split/frayed CV boot. It seems these can be bought online and fitted DIY style. Is there anything I should look out for when replacing it? Nearside front, outer is where it's located.

You probably need to buy the type with a long split in it that can be fitted without removing anything. Maybe link to what you intend to purchase.

Nissan won't care, a judge might though. Problem is you need money to chase them

No sure Nissan gives a fig about anyone with a 2026 car let alone a dinosaur.

Appalling customer service from a brand that used to be in such favour with the Irish market in particular.

So after a few weeks with the 40KW battery in the 2016 L30, all is going well. The cost was 3500+VAT for the battery. It was in great shape, a very good battery. 950+VAT for install. Range Therapy can replace a battery like this in a few hours. Battery is showing 12 bars and about 90% SOH. Car presents, fully charged, with about 240KM range. We are getting about 200KM from it including some M50 driving, and this is what we wanted, so very happy with the swap. Need to get a good few years cheap driving now to make it all worth while, but am optimistic at this point. 30 KW battery that came out of the car was toast, in bits, good for recycling only. The battery had done about 150K, was at 63% SOH with a 31% HX and we were getting 80KM GOM range on a good day with very volatile battery % swings while driving. When it broke down, fully charged, about 5KM from home on the M50, it was clear that is was a goner.

The battery had not been great, going from 11 (when we got it) to 8 bars in 4 years. However, the real warning signs that it was on the way out were the volatile battery % - jumping all over the place. From 60% to 25% in a minute, then it would climb back up a bit. So if you have an L30, watch for that volatility - could be a warning sign. And if you are buying a second hand Leaf, get the dongle (€35 quid and posted in this thread somewhere) and LeafSpy pro app (€15) and test the battery yourself before you buy the car. Suspect that if I had known this and tested our car before I bought it, I would have seen the warning signs. Especially for the 30KW Leaf batteries, I've heard all sorts of horror stories now - they are a roll of the dice, be careful.

Anyone needed to replace a Leaf key? I lost one from our 2022 but still have the other. Tried Windsor Bray and they're quoting €220 ex VAT and earliest slot end of April. Cheaper to go with private key replacement?
