OohPod are based in Jonesborough, have lockers and are also available to select as a collection point on Amazon which is free. There are services that will forward your parcel on to you, but I haven't used any so can't comment.

Parcels arriving at our Jonesborough location which originated from Great Britain

cannot be forwarded to the Republic of Ireland

     and

must be collected in Northern Ireland in person by the recipient

Like I said, OohPod is a collection point for Amazon (for free) and there are other services (UKParcels is one I saw mentioned recently which has collection locations around Ireland) or which will forward your parcel to you

There are no services like Parcel Motel (delivery to the north cheaply and they'll ship it south) since Brexit. Customs charges completely killed that business model overnight.

Most of the small locally-owned parcel collection companies along the border are happy to forward parcels from Great Britain to the Republic, without Customs declaration, for a fee - notwithstanding the fact that this is an illegal service to provide.

Amazon UK parcels can also be directed to some post offices in NI, which are designated as Amazon counter hubs.

The post offices in Cloughoge and Dublin Rd Newry (in SuperValu) are the nearest to the M1.

The address can be set up in Amazon.

Parcels are held for a week (unlike oohpod where they are held for 48 hours). There is often free delivery to the PO.

There's An Post's Address Pal but it costs a lot more than Parcel Motel used to.

I've used it for Amazon USA (well, before tariff madness) to get Amazon stuff delivered to their depot in the US then onto Ireland.

And they also have a UK address.

Amazon.germany or one of them you might be lucky still inside the Eu.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭dubguy45

Avoid Address Pal. Too expensive and go out of there way to charge you as much as they can, tax, duty, handling fee. All to be paid before they deliver. Unfriendly attitude. There is Parcel Collection Depot in Jonesborough that I have used without issue. They are a collection service but can deliver if required. Check them out if you want. No duty or tax added to your purchase price from the UK.

Check Hagglezon to see which EU Countries might have it.

Anyone else get this sort of Amazon genius cock up?

Amazon.ie - ie = ireland? Delivery address in Ireland sold by Amazon.ie and Amazons own basics item won't deliver. It was also one of todays Amazon.ie deals.

"This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location."

    https://www.amazon.ie/APC-Easy-UPS-900VA-Uninterruptible/dp/B08G8WZ22H

No I don't want the particular UPS I was just comparing price and specs when I spotted the red cannot be shipped warning.

Wake me up when it's all over.

That's bizarre alright. No Irish need apply! 😉

It says Battery Cell Composition: Lead Acid, AGM.

Is that accurate? I thought APC would be using lithium cells surely in this day and age.

Maybe that's why the batteries don't last that long or so I've heard.

I'm no expert on UPS though. Is there any with lithium batteries that are affordable?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, when creating amazon.ie, someone somewhere copied a template from possibly Amazon.de(because it uses euros), and used that as the config file, unbeknownst to them introducing all manner of bugs to the site. Like me getting emails and texts from Amazon.ie in German, and Amazon.ie listing a product thats available on the continent, but is not actually deliverable to Ireland.

Definitely AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) cells. Thats been the defacto technology for donkey's years. A replacement battery for that would cost about 20 quid so no chance you'll be getting a Lithium battery at that unit price.

Just a tiny bit frustrating that items that were listed to arrive before Christmas are going to arrive after. And it's not about Prime vs. regular either as during checkout all the delivery date options conveniently postponed to end of December and January. If you check the product pages, they still claim delivery before Christmas. Oh well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 306 ✭✭ShayNanigan

I have to hand it to them this time… All but one item arrived today after all! I wasn't expecting my order until around 29th but a pleasant surprise today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,661 ✭✭✭JamesBond2010

i actually reported it for the Crack to see what would happen & they actually deliver to ireland now🤣🤣. fastest date is 12 Jan though for any Types of Delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,440 ✭✭✭jonski

Anyone else feel that the delivery times are getting longer even with Prime ?

I was definitely getting items faster with .co.uk plus the tracking is absolutely terrible " Package left courier facility " " package is out for delivery " and nothing in between .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,705 ✭✭✭✭whiterebel

If it is delivered with An Post, it is noticeable that they have seriously altered their tracking in the last 12 months. It doesn't show which office any more, and doesn't seem to show half the scan points it used to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,577 ✭✭✭mossie

This seems to have been an issue with An Post for a while, no scans between dispatch and delivery.

They have definitely changed their tracking. Biggest change is the notifications I now get from An Post which I didn't get 6 months ago (and before that).

We have your Amazon item; we’re getting it ready for delivery

We will deliver your Amazon item today

We’ve successfully delivered your Amazon item

Mine have always gone to Dublin Hub then out for delivery in the Amazon tracking.

It's not just An Post. I sent some items to an N.I. address as they wouldn't deliver here and the Royal Mail tracking has changed too.

Not sure if this Amazon Ireland forum only, or can we post about Amazon UK shipping to Ireland?

I dont understand Amazon's UK policy for Irish shoppers. They offer free shipping to Ireland (from UK) for purchases above a certain value, £30 I think, which is great. But if you need to return an item, you pay for postage yourself. I rarely return on Amazon, maybe 4 times in the past 4 years. Once I was issued a free return label addressed to Amazon ireland, Athlone or somewhere in the midlands I recall. The other times, I had to pay 9 euro postage to return to the UK address label they issued me.

Today I was returing a clothing item worth 15 euro I bought from Amazon UK, didnt fit as it was huge. I didnt really pay attention to the returns label I printed and then popped into the post office, I thought it was free postage. They wanted 13 euro postage ! I said forget it, and I'll give it to the local animal rescue charity shop instead.

People have told me that H&M, Zara, Next and other UK retailers provide free returns for Irish shoppers.

Wonder why Amazon UK doesnt adrress all Ireland returns to the Irish amazon centre, for free ?

Get on to Amazon for a free return. There fault for sending faulty goods. If sizes are that out then the goods are not what you ordered. Often for lower priced items the Amazon rep will just say keep it. Even if you do have to return it Amazon should be paying for faulty goods to be returned.

They will refund the postage cost if you email them the receipt.

Can you speed up amazon delivery anyway by paying extra? It says something I am afternwould be delivered March 2nd to 4th. Anyway I could get it quicker?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,324 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

try amazon.co.uk. I know it sounds mad, but Ive gotten some things quicker from the uk site than the Irish one.
