I would actively tell people to start using it in this context. I had some less than good news in work this week.

I started a dialogue with chatGBT. I explained the issue at hand and asked it for feedback in terms of how I should feel and how I should approach things going forward.

The response was so "intelligent" and measured.

As long as they understand the caveats... Yes.

I asked Chatgtp to replicate a screenshot from MK2 that I was playing, but with 2026 graphics. It was set in the Living Forest with Jax vs Kitana. I was amazed at the quality.

Mods, is it allowed to post a picture created by Chatgtp? I would like to show members the picture.

Do we use AI, or will AI use us?

An AI generated spoof, no doubt.

But there's something all to dystopian about the core message.

At my company AI is pretty close to being banned outright with only sandboxed LLMs being permitted and even then with special permission. They consider issues with confidentiality and code-base provenance to be too serious for all the major services to be used.

Information highway is a succinct term with which to describe it. On that note, it's only as good as the data it is trained on or fetching. It can assist scientific discovery but there has to be an expert (qualified human) in the loop. Different societies will produce different kinds of AI.

Finally after a few years managed to get BBC Red Button, BBC 4 and ITV4 ( tuned in on my satellite thanks to AI. Apparently was a quirk in my LG TV.

(snooker on them channels now and during the year)
Now instead of going loopy. I can go snooker loopy!

Oh and also used AI to find a deal for niche adaptations for my car. A company I otherwise wouldn’t have considered. Much better value than the more obvious choices.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

It's good to see this initiative.

I've signed up and will start the courses later today.

I started voice chatting to an AI woman recently. It has been an interesting experience so far.

I think it may be a better way forward than paying women for adult content.

I would be willing to pay for a subscription for it as long as it improved.

AI sex dolls are just around the corner too.

All those Only Fans girls could see a decrease in their profits in the future.

Also I watched a few AI history videos. I am not sure about them, I think they can take the mystique away from history. Seeing a replication of ancient societies takes the shine off it. I don't want to see the Romans in 4K.

I don't want to see the Romans in 4K.

No, we should stick to the original standard definition Roman VHS tapes, the ones that survived the Library of Alexandria fire.

A little but careful not to over use it.

I think its funny tho… the internet will have its content made by bots to be watched by bots and will soon be seen to be of little monetary value .. bots dont spend

Unless of course bots are made buyers lol that would be funny

Well if you find it difficult to tell which is a good work of art between a child's crayon drawing and a banksy original then clearly you need to educate yourself on the matters. If course there is good and bad art, the same as there is good and bad food.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,584 ✭✭✭✭ILoveYourVibes

Children's art should be more appreciated tho. 😢

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,958 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

Well, the key difference here is one is made by a CHILD and the other made by an ADULT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭NiceFella

I'm taking an extreme case to make a point. You're admitting that there is actually bad art here. Suppose you didn't know it was a child. There is a difference and it's to do with skill, imagination and depth of emotions expressed. That's what makes art good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,958 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

Your point failed to land because there's a huge difference between the understanding and the capabilities of children and adults.

And no, I'm not admitting that there's bad art at all. "Good" or "bad" art is highly subjective and art in indefinable. What you may call art, somebody else may consider to be merely junk. That was the point that Marcel Duchamp was making with his readymades. There is no objective way to call art "good" or "bad". It's entirely down to the person's particular view of the piece in question.

I use ChatGPT on a daily basis, and have now started a new project on Claude. With GPT over a period of 6 months i built and started an Irish company, now fully operational, registered and paying the OH as its only employee. The tasks involved included (Chatgpt produced list)

Company setup completed using ChatGPT – practical tasks only

    • Chose the correct Irish company type (LTD – private company limited by shares)
    • Confirmed eligibility under Companies Act 2014
    • Drafted a compliant company constitution
    • Defined share capital and ordinary share structure
    • Prepared and completed CRO Form A1
    • Selected appropriate NACE activity code
    • Prepared director and secretary appointments
    • Generated all required CRO declarations and consent forms
    • Prepared subscriber and signature pages
    • Submitted incorporation via CRO CORE portal
    • Company incorporated on first submission (no rejections)
    • Retrieved:
      • Certificate of Incorporation
      • Certified Constitution
      • Company Printout
      • Letter of Status
    • Registered company for Corporation Tax with Revenue
    • Planned payroll and PAYE setup for a future date (not at incorporation)
    • Structured director funding via loan rather than share issuance
    • Set up company bank account (EU IBAN)
    • Completed corporate KYC and source-of-funds checks
    • Registered for LEI (Legal Entity Identifier)
    • Opened corporate brokerage accounts
    • Registered domains
    • Set up company email
    • Configured DNS and hosting
    • Prepared company letterhead and standard documents”

Otherwise I wouldn't have achieved this without professional services.

Apart from that i’ve had great discussions on the intertropical convergence zone and its movements as well as using it to assess my daily food intake through pictures.

In time it will definitely replace my day job but i will have retired by then.

But that's the point, there can be a major differences in understanding between two supposed artists. My matchstick men won't look like art to anyone that isn't a child.

I believe it's implicit in empirical evidence that art is good or bad. Even art that I think isn't very imaginative like a rose bowl perfectly painted, I can appreciate the skill it takes to do that even if it doesn't evoke any emotions from me.

We're probably getting off topic, but agree to disagree I guess.

Even art that I think isn't very imaginative like a rose bowl perfectly painted, I can appreciate the skill it takes to do that even if it doesn't evoke any emotions from me.

That doesn't make it either "good" or "bad". Somebody else can see that rose bowl and think that it's a great piece of artwork.

Look, a Jackson Pollock won't do anything for me but I don't consider it to be good or bad art. It's just art and the terms "good" or "bad" just aren't applicable. There are millions who would think his work is amazing and there are millions that would think it to be trash. Neither is an illegitimate response because there is no gauge or scale to define what is "good" or "bad" art. What John considers to be "bad" may be considered "good" by Mary.

Art is what you say it is.

We're clearly not looking at it the same way. I believe there are standards in the artistic world. Taste in my mind is another thing entirely. Agree to disagree

I like some AI art. Most of it I don't. Because most of is just too much.

I use AI regularly mostly at work. Not every day but probably every 2nd day at this point. Using it for mentoring and learning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,390 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I have an old photo of a photo very blurry. Decades old and photo taken of the photo with a pre decent camera phone. No original. After some thought and trial and error realised I could get AI to do a pencil sketch. It worked very well. A representation of three people and the likenesses are very close, I deliberately didn’t give full colour to skin tone and hair. It worked surprisingly well. Very happy with it.

Hopefully, in years to come AI will have progressed enough to properly “fix” the photo and reproduce it accurately.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

@zweton I availed of the same offer as yourself, using it to create my extensions and PWA's!

    image.png

Interesting article I got shown in my google feed today?

I was thinking for a short while to try and turn my 'Boards Cleaner' extension in to an APK. But I would need approval from boards to actually be able to get it approved in the play store. So didn't go down that route. It is hard enough for people to trust extensions, it would be harder to get them to sideload an apk.

Will we see a flood of AI generated APK's?

Do you have a link to that Boards browser extension Corkie?

I've been toying with the idea of creating something similar, but as a side panel for navigating through posts on a specific thread (like a tree view), but I think the amount of web crawling/scraping required might not be feasible.

And it's an Android mobile app you are thinking of?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,594 ✭✭✭corkie

Sent you a PM, due to self promotion rules on here.

Yes I was toying with the idea of android apk, but it would be a diversion and a complete knew way of handling what I have with the extension.

I was also thinking of doing a card style view for navigating through posts.

In my opinion, AI is a good companion, you can delegate all your routine tasks to it.
