I guess this answers the conversation from a few weeks back about Reiko being available during the 6 nations.

Potentially just flew home while the squad has two weeks off though I suppose aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,681 ✭✭✭FtD v2

Yeah, word is he was going home for a few weeks, and just doing this to keep fitness up. He's contracted, so he obviously wouldn't be doing this without Leinster's permission.

Don't blame him for leaving the rain

Leinster don't play for another two and a half weeks. Then there's a three week break after that before the next game. It's the perfect time for Ioane to travel back to New Zealand.

Not great for fans who can't get tickets for Six Nations games though. The revamped season has ruined the match day experience imo. So few games to attend now. I loved the two league matches that took place when the test players were away. You had the chance to look at the next crop of players coming through.

    Hear hear.

Hopefully A game goes ahead this weekend.

Don't expect to see Rieko against cardiffz but happy enough to see Cooney at 13

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,945 ✭✭✭RichieRich_89

Ioane, Lowe, JOB, Larmour and Henshaw being unavailable could mean the backline for the Cardiff game looks something like:

    9. Luke McGrath, 10. Charlie Tector, 11. Ruben Moloney, 12. Ciarán Mangan, 13. Hugh Cooney, 14. Joshua Kenny, 15. Hugo McLaughlin; 21. Fintan Gunne, 22. Caspar Gabriel, 23. Andrew Osborne

It's probably quite like Frawley gets released back to play, though. Maybe him slotting in at #22 would make the most sense.

Would hope one/both of Byrne and Frawley get released. 10 Byrne 12 Tector 15 Frawley 23 McLaughlin would make me feel a bit more comfortable going into the Cardiff game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,945 ✭✭✭RichieRich_89

Oh yeah, Byrne. He slipped my mind for some reason. Him at 10 with Tector at 12 then.

Just got my season ticket renewal email. Some hike in price for the new stand.

Wheelchair section for the last season we were in the RDS: 150 euros (covered)

Wheelchair section in the new stand: 280 uncovered or 585 covered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,681 ✭✭✭FtD v2

    Yeah, they're very pricey.

They've changed the terrace structure too - it's now done in 6 blocks, and apparently you can't move between blocks. Obviously central blocks will be pricier than the outer blocks.

    Pricing across the various tiers:

    • Diamond (centre of Anglesea or Grandstand) - €850
    • Platinum (either side of centre of Anglesea or Grandstand) - €770
    • Sapphire (next furthest out in Anglesea) - €710
    • Gold (outer blocks of Anglesea, rest of Grandstand) - €585 (Junior €250, Family x4 €1,520)
    • North / South Terrace (uncovered) - €340 (Junior €125, Student €170, Family x4 €850)
    • Terrace Central - (standing) - €320
    • Terrace Other (standing) - €280

Yikes. Just when the standard of performance has dropped off too.

That wheelchair hike aside, I'm happy that they're at least trying to put people back in their old seats after initially saying they wouldn't.

Will put it here as might get few more to see it.

Colours games are on this week. womens game is tonight and mens game is tomorrow. Both in trinity 7.30pm

well worth going to if you have the time. always bit of craic at them having been to a few over the years,

I was hoping for a free for all. Very hard to get a better seat at the minute

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,080 ✭✭✭✭The Iron Giant

True but if you've had the same seats for over a decade, it would be fairly crappy if you got screwed over by bad luck or crappy internet. Not to mention that it would have been a mess trying to manage it on Ticketmaster. I'm glad they're honouring previous STHs commitment.

Was wondering why Smykovskiy wasn't playing in the Colours Match, but makes sense now. Largely the same team that faced the Toulouse Espoirs a few weeks back.

Interested to see Inigo Cruise O'Brien and Jayden Beckett included - a lot of people thought Cruise O'Brien was destined for bigger things when coming out of school and it hasn't really happened for him. I think Beckett is one of the better players in the AIL.

Beckett has been brilliant all season for Belvo. Good to see it being rewarded.

    Is Spicer injured?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,711 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

Bench impact is probably a better role for Beirne from this stage onward. If the younger lads can prove their value in starting, then a fresh Beirne from the bench would be brilliant. Covering 4 and 6 is perfect.

Really hope Izuchukwu can take his opportunity.

With Ireland going for a 6-2 split and Doris playing at 7, I wonder will Leinster follow? With everyone fit we have a very strong pack and impactful bench.

A back five of the pack could consist of Ryan. McCarthy, Baird, Doris, Conan. Then you could spring Snyman, VDF and one of Deegan or Soroka from it too. That's to go with Kelleher and Clarkson coming in as replacement hooker and tight head respectively. Frawley could be the multi purpose back alongside Luke McGrath. The issue is loose head. A fit Paddy McCarthy or Jack Boyle really turns our bench into a huge weapon.

Baird, Boyle and McCarthy are all out for the entire season so it does stretch the impact here somewhat.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 33,058 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

We now basically have an injured Porter, Cahir and Usanov as our looseheads. This does not seem sustainable…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,026 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I know Boyle and McCarthy are out fi the season, but Baird should be back some time after the Six Nations. The IRFU injury update given at the time said he'd be out for four months.

Of course, there could be complications and setbacks in his recovery, but I don't think there has been any word of that yet.

Delighted to see him get recognition. He got a cap for the Connacht A last season.

Unbelievably physical and skillful player. Been at the heart of Belvos resurgence back to 1A the last few years.
