I'm not sure they know what they're doing, told me yesterday the price might change when I go to trade it in as it has to be inspected by them so the estimate is only a guide, they also said it's not them buying it. It doesn't make sense, traders bidding on trade bid then telsa checking it over for them and going back to the customer with a revised figure. Training could be a bit lacking me thinks. Anyway I can try again in 5 days then it's off to Volvo for a happy price.

I shouldn’t be needing new tyres for a while so will check back, they are good to deal with and might have a good price once the time comes… plus Michelins that the car came with seem to run a cash back quite often and they are an authorized partner so might end up with the same figures…

Very happy not to be having a “standard” model, definitely would’ve ended in something else.

One of the OHs friends got a spin in the car and not knowing anything about Tesla’s she asked for the price, when asked to guess she thought it’s an 80k car based on the looks and drive….

I'd say that's just what they want to hear now!

Thanks Captain Obvious. They might not want to hear it if they don’t have one, but it might stop someone else from having an expensive repair bill. Some people say they’re a waste of money. A screen protector saved my own M3 from getting cracked.

How does one crack their screen? Kids?

They’re pretty hard to crack unless something hard hits the edge of the screen. My OH was transporting some item to the charity shop in our M3 when some metal leg hit the lower edge of the screen and left a shatter point and 2 cracks running up the screen protector. She thought it was the screen. Very lucky. I left it on until a new protector arrived. I wouldn’t want to guess the cost to replace a screen in one.

Yeah, couple of videos on YT. Looks like the full screen unit would be around 300 quid.

buy one from Calvin in EV Breakers in Newry.

If getting a used unit, you need to make sure you get one with a matching, or later letter than the one printed on a QR code only visible after you remove the mount. The video below explains the process. I second EV Breakers in NI. Ring ahead if collecting, but they offer delivery.

Great video, I got the screen off and it’s a 1089543-00-H

I don’t think a J or G screen will work with the older computer.

I’ve found one in the Uk but will try both Donie and EV Breakers on Monday / Tuesday.

    Great advice, thanks guys-

Two kids in the car and nobody knows how the screen cracked )))))))

At least one of them does know how!
But fair play to both of them for protecting each other. Proper brothers 😂😂

Bjorn got over 900km range on his 80km/hr Sunday drive challenge from the LRRWD

Thai temps but yes a fantastic range car given its COD and battery size, I've often got EPA range on my 3 when tipping around in the best of the summer weather

Enjoyed that video, the RWD LR really is a great range car. I do a cross country trip about twice a week of 90kms home to home mainly on 80km/h roads in my 2022 RWD and regularly get around 10kWh/100kms in the warmer months. Often not needing aircon or heating, making Ireland ideal for good range.

The LR version is an ideal Irish car if you need that much range, I'm sure 500kms would be easy enough to average, as good as many petrol cars. And from what I read it feels light and nimble, some preferring it to drive to the AWD.

it will be interesting to see how this bears out in the Q1 deliveries, you’re hardly alone - I suspect they’ll be pushing like hell to find reallocated buyers at the end of March.

The base M3 was always very good value here - is the price of the Standard now equalised with other markets, and we’ve had it too good up to now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,711 ✭✭✭Redfox25

Cancelled my order for m3 rwd today as well. Its a pity but will keep an eye for other offers as we get into march and June.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,992 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Doubt there will be any more offers as such, I'd say we will see a Standard LR maybe but that's about it, best Tesla offer in years is their current €3.5k trade in boost which will expire end of March

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,143 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Agreed - the booster will drive traffic to the Tesla website and sales centres. The booster plus the new standard models will pick up lots of customers. They really are terrific cars, now at terrific prices.

The standard versions really take nothing substantive away from the model offerings.

Due to the supply from Shanghai I'd say the last ever Premium RWD LFP arrived last quarter. If you got the upgraded model with front camera, congratulations for an excellent deal. The new offering is not really that different. It looks the same, as the matrix lights and as it retains the glass roof and (white only) mood lighting it's not so dreary as the the Model Y equivalent. With the trade-in booster it's equally good value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,143 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

What's dreary about the Model Y standard? Seats are nicer and more supportive than the pre-Juniper model, headliner is bright material so the cabin stays reasonably bright, pre-Juniper MY didn't have mood lighting strip, dash material is nicer in the new standard. Pointless rear screen is done away with, one less thing to worry about repairing.

Frunk liner is disappointing, but it doesn't seem to contribute to noise levels, which are overall a little quieter than pre-Juniper MY, probably due to the upgraded suspension.

I'd bet they will have more offers(or extend the existing one), particularly if there isnt a decent sales bump in March.

The fact they offered this €3.5k in the first place suggests they want/need to boost sales.
