It's a common thing on the pucks and nothing to do with the internet, the live TV section disappears and it can take several reboots for it to reappear again.

Never had that in 3 years, on 4 pucks. I'd be asking for a replacement

Pretty impressive considering it hasn't been available for 3 years in Ireland.

Anyway, don't take my word for it, believe all who have it in the tech forums and Sky's own.

Sky Stream launched on 23 July 2023 in Ireland, so ye can argue the toss after that !

Sky Glass was around before that, and the pucks with it. I know exactly how long I've had them, since Sep 22, because I got them in when we moved into our house that year.

Hurrache your posts sound more and more like someone with an axe to grind rather than someone posting in good faith.

OK, can we stop this right now.

No more posts that amount to “Sky is better than eir” or “eir is better than Sky” please, this is mean to be the Sky Stream thread, and really there shouldn’t be any discussion of eir here.

Likewise can we cut the disputes over the launch date, it’s a matter of public record on both cases, and to be honest I’m not sure the discussion is adding anything to the thread.

    it’s not far off it

Starting my third contract with stream and have had zero issues, on Vodafone internet, works as well as any other product

My Sky Stream contract is up next month and I'll not be keeping it as I find it far too clunky vs satelite Sky, as well as the playlist function showing programming on apps you're not subscribed to.

Is phoning up still the only way to cancel with Sky?

I got through to someone by texting on WhatsApp +353 818 716 051. Got a virtual assistant first of all but eventually an agent came on & went through the process on WhatsApp.

Looking at the sky glass air which on the main webpage says

The smarter TV from €227, when you take a Sky TV subscription from just €18 a month

Clicking 'buy now' brings you to the order page but the cheapest you can get it for there is €419… Any thoughts?

Question for icdg or those more knowledgeable than me! Whats to stop sky from agreeing with itv to have itv 2 3 and 4 on stream? Surely in the age of iptv etc the legacy issue of vmtv objection and rights aside could allow it with this programme os not available options like vmtv do for cable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,504 ✭✭✭MrFrisp

I think it's something to do with geo-restrictions, and the fact that a lot of itv shows are shown here by VM.

    I could be wrong though.

Virgin Media broadband and TV customers have access to ITV 2,3,4 so unless they have some exclusive rights maybe. But other than that I can not see why those channels would not be available to other providers in Ireland both Sky, Vodafone or Eir.

Thats my thoughts and expanding it to others seems a no brainer if vmtv can do it.

There's nothing to stop them but likely more than half the content, soaps, soccer, rugby, I'm a celebrity etc etc will be blocked - so why bother?

For whatever reason the ITV channels (apart from for a short period a long long time ago ITV3 and 4) have never been available here on Sky, even during the period UTV was widely available on virtually every other provider.

It is for ITV and Sky to come to a deal on that, having regard to whatever might be in their deal with VM, as regards non-compete arrangements, and whatever rights issues are there.

The rights issues are clearly not insurmountable, as VM cable has ITV3 and ITV4 (albeit the latter used to have all or most of its sports programmes blocked). And we don’t know if there is any non-compete clause. Certainly VM were not keen about ITV2 being available here, as they pulled it off their cable network after the supply deal with ITV was done. They seem to have less issues with 3&4 though.

Didn't take long for them to put the prices up. It was €24 a month yesterday and today €28.

April 1 is the date for all annual price increases in the telecoms industry. Existing customers outside contract monthly rental goes up on this date also disguised as consumer price index inflation increases. Trend that started in UK that has now transferred to Ireland. If moving provider, March is the month to do it as you will get lower prices for 12 months.

They announced a €28 package a while ago with HBOMax so this shouldn't be a massive surprise

    https://www.thejournal.ie/hbo-max-launches-ireland-how-to-watch-the-pitt-euphoria-friends-6995214-Mar2026/

In February, Sky confirmed that it was launching a new service offering its own content alongside Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and reality TV streamer Hayu in one subscription which will cost new customers €28 per month for twelve months.

Had a look at the Sky Stream Interface today in curry they had it on a glass tv. Did notice there was a lag when going between channels is that normal for anyone that has it? debating whether or not to switch over.

It is about a second typically when I change channels using a Sky Stream box.
