Daredevil [Netflix/Disney - Spoilers]

Another great episode. Was a bit wary that Vanessa survived as I thought killing her off would be a great move, but they stuck the landing. Great to see some old faces too.

They're nailing it so far anyway.

Seems like the first season of DD:BA was originally meant to be a quasi-reboot, with little-to-no acknowledgement of the Netflix series, recast actors (think they recast the role of Vanessa), no Karen or Foggy. They filmed a few episodes before realising it wasn't working, brought on new showrunners and decided they needed it to be a continuation of the Netflix show. So the first season is a bit of a mish-mash of both ideas. They took a lot of the new from the original idea (Matt's new law firm, Cherry, Muse, White Tiger), and re-jigged some of it to include some Netflix stuff (Karen, Bullseye, original actress for Vanessa, Punisher), then tied it all together centered around killing off Foggy.

But it means this season they have a clear path to really bring in a lot from the Netflix show with even more throwbacks, which was obviously key to this episode.

I don't think so. Kingpin reminded her she didn't like pineapple because of how it made her lips feel, so they'd obviously discussed pineapple in the past, meaning he would have known if she was allergic rather than just not liking it. I think it was more just to lull the audience (and Kingpin) into a false sense of security. That an unusual request like that would mean she's at the very least aware of her surroundings and what's going on.

To be honest in the moment I thought it was hinting at it being a dream by Kingpin, and he was imagining Vanessa waking up and talking to him but his subconscious was trying to make him realise she wouldn't ask for pineapple and actually she'd died. Probably better the way they did it as we got to see his immediate reaction to her dying.

Yeah I'd say after this scare, in the next episode we'll see that he woke up this morning, got himself a gun…
