Lads I’m loving the quotes and positivity!

5km run done. It was cold out there. My legs were nice and rosy red afterwards. And they needed that run out after that spin class on Sunday!

Was out myself last night, 6k finishing up a flipping massive hill, practically crawled up it. Nearly had to bathe in cow rub after it 🤣 But still zero regrets lol

My legs were so stiff from the spin class I have to avoid all hills on my run 😂😂

Rub some udder cream on them, alternatively I got a great tip from a physio years ago - use a rolling pin to give them a good rub out.

What would we do without the cow rub, eh? 🤣

I know, my husband used to say he was going to the dairy to get some cream for his cow 😂😂😂😂, you’d have to have a sense of humour.

Another spin and weights class done this morning. Arms feel like wet spaghetti right now but enjoyed it.

I'm jumping on the wagon. Excuses in first, I am limited by stupidity/injury. I had a epidural an nerve blockers in December for a neck issue (I have had a few operations), my right arm couldn't lift 10kg, or lift my kids so I have also been hitting physio and rehab is helping this. Whilst this was happening I busted my knee on a 10km, so can't run or push a pedal on a bike, walking downstairs is also an extreme sport. I have a knee specialist appointment tomorrow who will tell me I should have stopped running four months ago when the pain began.

I have been to the gym Friday, Saturday and today. It is light back weights, some chest, and elbow/arm rehab stuff, all instructed by the physio.

TLDNR: I couldnt out train my diet when I could ran and lift, now I can't run and can barely lift so the diet is going to kill me. I start today.

My running days are done too, knee just isn't up to it anymore, certainly not pounding pavements/roads anyway, its just too sore after even a 5k run (did a couple last week & the pain/stiffness an hour or so later was most uncomfortable). Will be concentrating on walking & the bike for my exercise now. Sad days!! I knwo you hear stories & see people older than me out running, but I think the surgeries & 20 odd years of competitive sports have finally caught up on me and I have to accept I'm old & not up to the heavy stuff anymore, so like yourself @Jude13 diet will do my heavy lifting.

Sorry to hear about the running being a no-go, lads. I have a love/hate (mostly hate) relationship with running; I generally hate every step of a run but love how I feel after it. It's bonkers.

I'm down another KG this week so happy with that - three off now since the 5th. Many more to go but little steps.

I'll do a weigh tomorrow morning and get my google sheets tracker up and running again.

Jesus Jude you've been through alot!! Look after the bod, the diet is 80% of it anyway, get the diet right the rest will work itself up.

I can't give too much advise on the diet but up your protein intake, protein will keep you fuller for longer and certainly helps me keep the night time snacky cravings at bay.

Sad thing is I know exactly how to diet, I am protein heavy anyway, its the portion control that gets me. But I will begin today. Longest journey first steps and all.

I know my downfall… cakes, fruitcakes in particular, that's why the Christmas build up from end of September to January is such a minefield for me… i can resist everything, except temptation!!

I always add weight in that time, always have, so now with it being more difficult to lose through diminished exercise & my health affected its time to sort that out once & for all.

Just don't be too hard on yourself, if you fall off the dieting wagon just hop back on it. One bad day won't undo the hard work.

Our coffee table still has a massive bowl of QS and roses on it as we still have visitors staying with us.

Meal prep for me is key.

I've done a meal plan for the last two weeks for dinners & it's been great; not just from a dieting perspective, but has eased the mental load in the evening too.

Also finding putting everything into MyFitnessPal in the morning time helps me get the day in perspective - I love an evening snack so need to get that in so that I have the cals for it banked so to speak. Its working so far - but this is only week three so will see how long it lasts!

that app is great. Used it back in 2016 when I lost 4 stone. Tracking everything became almost a game in itself!

Invest in a slow cooker, great for the batch cooking for meal prep, etc

From my previous successful cutting 15-20kg. Second myfitnesspal, also weighing all food if you really want to see results. I log weight each day, cals, steps, and lifts in google drive.

I have proved that I cannot do the slower cooker gig as I will eat the whole batch! I do a protein (Chicken breast/steak/fillet of fish) and 70gms of raw spinach and about 30 gms of rice. Anything more that this or nicer and I will eat all of it.

Im like a Labrador but not as much energy.

Was healthy yesterday, then smashed 6 roses.

Draw a line under it, Jude! It's impossible to go cold turkey on the treats I think. I personally need a little sweet treat in the evening to look forward to - currently, it's a bowl of Skyr, berries & a meringue nest, all mixed up & a can of Coke Zero on the side. Delish!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,591 ✭✭✭Aisling(",)

My little sweet treat at the moment is a rice crispy square(the Kellogg's blue one), a freddo or a pack of Maltesers(19g) from the multi pack.

I get officially weighed on Saturdays but it looks like I'm about a pound down today. Even if its an ounce I'm happy if its going in the right direction.

My sweet treat is one of the small Muller tubs of coconut & vanilla greek yoghurts… I love coconut & vanilla so these are pretty much the business to me.

Have cut out all other snack foods other than fresh fruit.

Fair play to you guys you are all doing great

Found my charger for my watch that’s a start 😂

Doing some short home workouts this week lots of water, food needs to be better but hoping if I lock in the movement and water the food part won’t be so hard, online food shop coming Friday morning so hopefully that prepares me for next week

Jeans still fit so no scales yet maybe in a week or 2 once other habits in place

Any evening/night-time snack ideas, to save me sitting down with Netflix, chocolate and crisps more often than I should? Or do I just need to get over it and break the habit? 🫣

I still do chocolate and crisps and Netflix. Key is multipacks. A multipack bar and packet of crisps would barely push 200kcals these days.
