Looks like a storm is brewing as Trump releases his messages with Macron. Sounds like a bit of interference in other countries affairs going on, especially with news that Iran is going to release information on certain officials providing funds to rioters in the country.

I am getting really worried about this I have to say. The EU wont be fully united with the likes of Orban and Fico there undermining wherever possible.

Is anyone realistically going to stop Trump getting whatever he wants?

releasing private messages will go down well.
Probably supposed to show how everyone wants to meet him.
    Imagine that been your president.

I think this WH feels it has more in common with autocrats and kleptocrats than democracies.

Saudi Arabia has invested $2bn in Kushner's company Affinity. Reportedly, Jared Kushner has been invited onto Trumps "Peace Council".

The Board of Peace will also include private equity executive and billionaire Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga and Robert Gabriel, a Trump adviser, the White House said, adding that Nikolay Mladenov, a former U.N. Middle East envoy, will be the high representative for Gaza.

Germany, France, Egypt have been invited to join it.

It includes a "Charter" which excludes key parts of the UN Charter.

Macron has refused to join, suspecting its an attempt to replace the UN.

Reports Ireland has been invited to join. I think we should politely refuse. Otherwise we could get drawn into undermining the UN.

Its a liability is what it is. Trillions of dollars tied up in a depreciating asset where the only means for exit is to sell at a loss. Its why theres no appetite for US long term debt and they have to refinance $10trn this year. Once the petrodollar era ends it'll be worth less than half what it is now.

Europe needs to extricate itself ASAP.

Would he ever stop with this 'everybody agrees' ****. They just agree because he will fire them if they don't!

Having thrown Starmer & the "special relationship" under the bus, trump is now reversing over and back on him, saying the deal to return the Chagos Islands is an "act of great stupidity". Of course that tosser Farage is lined up immediately behind him calling for the deal to be scrapped.

What are the chances Orban gets voted out in the Hungarian elections in April? Removing these pro-trump acolytes in governments from around EUrope is crucial to help maintain a united front vs US aggression/fascism.

Her name is Carla Sands, and she is a psychopath. She was on Newstalk or Radio 1 an afternoon last week and listening to her talk about how exciting it is to see what Trump is about to do in Venezuela and recoup all the US oil companies money was disturbing. She hates the Danes and Greenlanders as well.

Re Trumps new 'Board for Peace', that is a very dangerous new development. It is not intended to cease to be after, or limited only to Gaza. Its a rival organisation to the UN. Trump is Chairman for life in it and has veto power over its affairs, and will become involved an areas where it deems there is instability. Trump being Chairman for life (and that is literally in its charter) can only be achieved if he has the power and clout to back his mouth up, and that would be accomplished with him being US President for life

It's not Trump acting on his own though which is what everyone is focusing on.

It's the people behind the scenes that need to be flushed out. How in the name of God has a man like Stephen Miller gotten so powerful in America.

A few months ago Steve Bannon said there's a team working in the background to get Trump 2028.

Those that run project 2025 need the spotlight focused on them.

JD Vance should be nowhere near the Senate never mind the VP of the most powerful country in the world. What influence has Peter Thiel behind the scenes?

America is full of corruption yet is held as a beacon of the Western world against Russia and China.

We are really heading down the Orwellian 1984 world order.

Its very obvious now that the Trump family is using their country like a racket to enrich themselves. The Board of Peace could be Trump's plan fo keep this racket going beyond his presidential term.

Worrying times for any country thst doesnt pay him off or accede to his demands.

Yeah he does seem to be surrounded by very aggressive advisors at the moment. They need to be analysed in depth. The former Irish ambassador to the UK and EU gave good advice this morning. He said the leaders in the EU shouldn't let Trump's daily antics constantly infect their headspace. They need to remain calm and think through their options rather than react hastily. I agree. Trumps negotiations tactics are gone beyond infantile now but I still see no chance of a military invasion so the question is what deal will he accept? For example, will he insist that USA own a piece of Greenland. Hard to say. Davos could tell a lot. I don't think he will be half as brazen when face to face with other leaders.

And when will Homer see a new squirrel that he wants to chase...

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

This sounds mad but I actually get Trump , he is mad and completely nuts . Power hungry and probably a mushy brain . narcissistic and a spoiled man/child . But what I absolutely do not get at all are the Americans who are not out screaming for change and protesting, it baffles me that they cant see what is hurtling towards them.

They only have to look at history and see what is their fate , its all written down for them in history multiple times .They only have to open their eyes to see this

No, unfortunately: that would require a cabinet with some conscience, independence or cojones. With the likes of Bondi, Hegseth, Noem, Nutlick😁 etc in the cabinet, not a chance.

The administration is using the likes of ICE to quell any protesting. They've been given federal powers and are effectively immune from anything, including it seems murdering people in cold blood.

Trump has apparently been conducting intelligence operations on the placement and movement of Danish troops in Greenland. Trump said he will not rule out force. Why do you think he doesn't mean what he is saying

The republican party as we used to know it doesn't exist any more. In a desperate attempt to prevent the Democrats gaining power they have handed over the party to Trump. It started with Mitch McConnell's obstructionism which was the nail in the bipartisan coffin. So there aren't many republicans any more. Only Trumpists.

I've seen her on before, she gets a fair bit of airtime. An incredibly stupid woman.

I think they roll her out every now and then to display the stupidity of some US "diplomats"/politicians.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

On the Chagos islands deal there is criticism of it from the Chagossian diaspora themselves. They have never been controlled by Mauritius. The US has legitimate concerns about its cosy relationship with China.

Also the US is concerned that it could complicate the defence of Taiwan.

I hope this strengthens Macron, he is one of the few European leaders who have shown some mettle.

McEntee criticised this as an apparent attempt to replace the UN, just before Macron did likewise.

I'm waiting to see who is next to try explain away why a man seeking the Nobel Peace Award will attack the very country he wants the peace award from.
