We're not about to take Greenland by force. Nobody thinks that. Trump is already screwing up perfectly good politcal relationships, and everyone is making the correct political noises in response, but things are continuing as normal, with long-planned activities co-ordinated with Canada and Denmark.

To be honest nothing in that article is reassuring. I dont think anyone can reasonably guess the inner workings of Trump's mind now.

Would the American Military refuse a order to invade? It appears its full of Trump loyalists now.

Possibly one of the dumbest people to ever live. If ever there was evidence of botox infecting someone's brain, its her.

Not according to your commander in chief, so are you saying that if he ordered your military to invade Greenland they would refuse ?

The correct political response to Trump is a diplomatic fcuk off with yourself until you apologise to the citizens of Greenland and Denmark for your threats that the supposed reasons for have basis in reality you mad old bastard.

This is what I don't get, there seems to be zero pushback from anywhere within the government, it's agencies or military. Seems to be completely full of yes men. Incredible times

It's just a play in a long game . Either Trump is a genius businessman or out of his depth

trump has no clue about history. He knows nothing of political treaties between countries.

He has no honour. His word is meaningless.

The treachery of trump and his cabinet of lickspittles is on full display again. They are supporting Putin.

Trump still refuses to rule out military force so the situation is not normal at all. There could easily be a miscalculation that leads to war. In any case, Trump’s threats in and of themselves are deeply destabilizing to NATO and the rules-based order. Utterly outrageous.

Any chance for invoking the 25th amendment then for a clearly crazy commander in chief? Part of the much vaunted checks and balances we used to hear so much about? Or are they as useful as thoughts and prayers when there's another mass shooting?

Why is the senate and house so different? You'd imagine their electoral maps would be similar. Which is more important for Trump?

I never truly understood the saying 'the major powers sleepwalker into world war 1' but it could well happen again. Have Americans no shame, they elected a clearly insane man-child being a front men for a range of fascists, now 2/3 of them cower from 1/3 simpletons/fascist wannabes.

Despite all the madness that's going on, I still can't get over the mar a lago face. These women , in the cabinet or Fox News or whatever, are absolutely mutilating their faces to prove their loyalty to some absolutely dumb maga ideology. I swear they look like nosferatu's harem. It's totally demented. Their lips are dead, their facial extremities are dead and bloated. In years to come people will look back on the tragic corpse face cult and wonder how these poor women got so brainwashed.

It`s somewhat like here if you look on each state being like Ireland. There are 100 Senate seat and 435 House seat that make up Congress. House elections are like county council seats here, and Senate elections like Dail seats.

Two entirely different representations. The House represents the citizens as a whole. As a result, more populated places get more representation. New York City's population has eight house districts in Congress, the same as the population of the entire State of Wisconsin. Only voters who live in the district the representative represents may vote for any House representative. The Senate represents the fifty separate but equal states, each state getting two representatives in the Senate regardless of the state's population. As a result, all voters in a state get to vote for both senators (They are staggered elections, so not both get voted upon at the same time).

The Senate is arguably a bit more important because it is usually that body which confirms nominations and the like, but if either chamber falls to the opposition, it inherently hobbles Presidential policy and generally only conservative (small c) bipartisan stuff gets passed. They also have six year terms, so a win for any party tends to mean more chance of control, whilst all House reps get re-elected every other year.

There are 35 Senate seats up for grabs this year (Assuming no more special elections are added). 22 are currently held by Republicans, so if all other things were equal, there would be greater chance of a Democrat increase. Of those, one is currently expected to flip R to D (North Carolina), two current Rs are considered toss-ups (Maine, Ohio), and one current D (Michigan). All 435 House seats are up for grabs.

That's a terrible analogy. County councils have little say in national policy. The closer US equivalent to county councils would be state legislatures, though that seriously understates the autonomy and authority of state governments.

Meanwhile, despite the mocking, business does continue in the background.

Inviting them to the Board of Peace, which is supposed to control the money for Gaza reconstruction, undermines his (recent) message that Russia is a threat.

I'm concerned that the Board of Peace could be misused to avoid sanctions on Russia, and possibly to enrich certain people not including Gazans.

Also I read yesterday the amount of US treasuries held in Europe is about $8 trillion, not $3 trillion as I thought before. That is leverage. Eisenhower sold the Pound Sterling to force the UK to end the Suez Crisis.

It runs counter to the argument that they want Greenland because of the Russian threat.

Trumps warmongering against Iran and Venezuela and threats against Canada and Greenland could be a direct result of him not getting the Nobel Peace Prize. If this is the case, the US is literally being run by a person with a mental age of 5. He needs to be removed from power if this is the case.

    (Real posts)

It's f**king insane not to take this seriously.

This man has never been told "no" in his entire life. People warned that his personality type was that to put him in a position of such power would be an absolute disaster and here we are.

He will continue to test each point of weakness for exploitation in every situation, and fo see how far he can go, what he can get away with.

His knuckles need to rapped and f**king soon, regardless of what he threatens by way of retaliation.

The outside of America need to get their sh1t together. We cannot wait for America to sort itself out because, by the looks of things, the obsequiousness by those around Trump and those he commands shows that their judgement can't be trusted. We have a shining example right here on this very forum.

He’s been president a year now.

Bidens term seems smooth in comparison.

France says it wont join the Board of Peace, suspecting its an attempt to replace the United Nations. In response, Trump says Macron doesnt matter 'because he won't be there in a few months anyway' and threatens 200% tariffs on French wine.

Also he has just admitted inviting Putin onto it.

He's invited Canadian PM Mark Carney onto it. Also wealthy business/family cronies like Jared Kushner. Others include Marc Rowan and Ajay Banga.
