You can't, as Joe Citizen, but you can use the relatively new Donedeal Trade Offer feature under "Sell > How to Sell My Car > How much is my car worth?" which essentially is exactly the same - and it's free to use. You might be surprised as the offers you get.

Congrats. Don't mind us whinging about what is missing. It's still a great car with not much missing on the M3. The MY is what is missing a bunch of things, so much so that I wouldn't compromise buying the standard spec.

    Stay Free

It's a conundrum alright. Spec slashed, but a 3500 saving vs 1000 on the M3.

The main things I would want to compare would be the the

    • Frequency selective suspension on the older car versus the new standard suspension.
    • The impact of the reduction in sound insulation with the thinner glass.

The rest wouldn't really bother me on the 3

Does tesla always have this boost option? just weighing up my options to Stick or Twist.

    Thanks

    Trade in Booster?

No, this is the first time they’ve done it.

The more I think about this the more confused I get. I saw an nice enyaq 85 older shape but newer than the 80 today. I took a liking to but the no joy getting the NI dealer to sell it to me. The one thing I have against the ix3 it's based on an old ICE model.

Anyone receive news from Tesla as to what they plan to do with M3 STD RWD orders from before the changes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,512 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

You mean M3 Premium RWD - before the standard model was introduced?

They will be delivered as planned. Any spares not taken by folks switching to the standard model will go into inventory and be released over the year ahead.

The rep won't know any more than you would. In most cases less.

The only way to know what you're getting is to see what arrives off the boat on collection day and make sure it matches your invoice. You can reject the car on collection day if its wrong.

Ordered a Model 3 RWD LR mid-November through Ayvens (company car).

    Plain grey, no extras.

Been given a March delivery which feels slow for such a standard spec.

Is that normal enough lately or is Ayvens just dragging their heels?

The boat comes in to Dublin in March. Model 3 is China-built and there is no stockpiling done locally.

The car is great but the customer service from Tesla is poor.

Delivery is on their terms, take it or leave it etc. I love my M3H but shudder if I have to deal with Tesla again.

Got quoted - including trade in booster - €10,430 for a 172 Seat Ateca (1.0) today with 193k on the clock.

I would have expected another couple of K if the booster was indeed a booster but it appears just to bring up an under valuation to a private sale price which €10k is about all it's worth in a private sale.

Without any further deposit contributions I'd have to finance €26k so overall not bad but not great either. Saves the hassle of selling privately I guess. Dealers are selling similar examples for €13-16k.

    In my experience - both.

Ayvens (formerly Leaseplan) I've found were hopeless in going from quotes to placing an order. But once its ordered, its then over to Tesla. The process & timing in which your car will come & be delivered the similar as any retail customer.

Lads apologies if this is the wrong forum for this but was thinking about ordering a new Model 3 RWD LR, at the moment I have a 2023 Model 3 AWD LR, however my insurance renewal came in this week and it was €1050, I am a middle age male, do about 8000 kms a year, no penalty points, no claims basically everything right and when I rang/emailed over 15 companies very few would quote "Tesla" cars including all the usual's 123, Bonkers etc. Eventually got it with AA for €700 but that was the only one less than €850. It has given me concern about getting another Tesla, does anybody know if the RWD is easier to insure, is the AWD a big factor ? thanks

I'm thinking of getting a standard m3, with myself & partner it was coming in at just over 400 as a quote with aviva

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,539 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

With that little milage in a year do you need a LR?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45 Jakeredwood

Very true, mostly I don't I guess, just like the comfort of it but definitely need to consider it more

That's an excellent quote in fairness, maybe it's related to living in Dublin suburbs although they are not exactly known for being robbed. They always claim it's the repair costs and speed ...

Re insurance, my very recent experience of replacing a BMW iX40 with a new rwd Model 3 was that it increased by €47 to roughly €600 p/a. When we replaced a BMW330e with the iX the insurance actually fell by about €50 despite the iX having a 6 figure valuation- at least when new, all with Aviva for a late middle age driver and no claims.

So today, as you probably heard, xAI (X, Grok etc) came out and said they would take some more steps to address the use of Grok for the generation of illegal and abusive images, against females of every age, including children.

After some confusion, X said that they would geo-block the generation of images for the abuse and exploitation, but only in territories which such images are illegal.

Lets repeat that, the company will only take steps to end the practice of its tools creating child abuse images, where it is specifically illegal to do so, and not globally on morality and corporate responsibility grounds.

So, X is Elon Musk. Elon Musk is X. He is also Tesla. It is a car company created in his image and under his controlling interest. He is currently working to build his stockholding from 15% to 25%.

Therefore, if you purchase a Tesla, or allow yourself to be put into a company car that is a Tesla, you are directly and with full knowledge, giving business to a man who is without morality or a sense of responsibility to the world and who won't universally stop his applications from making child sexual abuse images where local laws allow it to continue.

Me, I'd rather drag myself through broken glass on bloodied stumps than support Tesla for those inextricable reasons. I won't even ride in a Tesla taxi.

The question is, why would any of you?

    RIGHT!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45 Jakeredwood

Very good to know thanks, as usual insurance makes no sense ever 😕

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,205 ✭✭✭joe1303l

If that Ateca is in good shape, you could easily get €12K for it privately. Might be worth a DoneDeal add. If you get no interest, you can throw it to the wolves with Tesla.

Our 530e insurance premium is twice that of the model 3 AWD. In fact, over twice! 357 V 761!

Insurance is a minefield at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,647 ✭✭✭sk8board

it’s related to parts availability and cost - combined with presumably providing a rental as cover for the time you have no car.

Y tends to be worse that 3, owing to the nature of its manufacturing process and the need to replace more parts than is initially apparent.

And my 330e was always between 400 and 500 up to getting my tesla 3 ... Insurance is definitely not an exact science
