Great half by the lads. Really fronting up well

Now that's probably the best 40 minutes of rugby by Connacht so far this year. Gilberts penalty kicking is wow

Front 3 are really stepping up. Ioane is great. Centre partnership seems to be working nicely. Now it's a matter of keeping this up for 80 minutes and this will be some win

Very encouraging and enjoyable half, we've come with a game plan and have executed this far. The pack have been excellent to a man but I've been particularly impressed by the front row, and our back three have been electric with Murphy and Ioane at their best pulling the strings.

The bench is quite light so I expect we will be up against it as the game goes on but some green shoots showing in that 40mins

Jeez Harry West looks an option.

    Great try again

He's very good. Incredibly impressive to step so seamlessly into a new position.

Correct call but **** hell, call that live or don't call it at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,425 ✭✭✭testtech05

Crazy harsh call to go all the way back to that. Don't think I've ever seen that called before.

Surely needs to be called live or not at all. Could be a huge swing

Fantastic turnover by Jansen messed up very badly by Murphy and Murray I think he got on the way of the pass to kicker.

    Killer to conceed like that

I think we are finally running out of steam unfortunately. That try disallowed was a real killer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,425 ✭✭✭testtech05

Gleeson looked a mile offside in he phase that lead to Gilbert being blocked. Was a poor decision to kick it

Jaysus had to go out just after we had that try disallowed and we looked very comfortable at 31-14 up. Come back and we're 2 points down.

In general I would agree but think in fairness today a lot of it has been down to being so light in numbers once the subs started coming on

Can’t really use excuses but that was some implosion. Yes young bench but we lost our composure.

That's a sickener. They really needed some kind of win just for a bit of confidence. Once they went back a mile to disallow that try it was the type of thing that usually bites Connacht in the ass.

Even by Connacht standards that took some doing! Nearly didn’t get a LBP.

Worse season in years. Cant keep making excuses for failures to hold on to lead. How many loses is that this seasom? Disgrace

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,806 ✭✭✭ElisaAtWar

So we lost but a lot of positives along the way. I think Stu is not doing a shabby job after the Wilkins term. Academy is prospering and first team is finally developing. So for a poster who tends to post negativity I do see the Connacht story going in the right direction

There no positives in consistantly losing and blowing big leads

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,425 ✭✭✭testtech05

If we could have held on for the win there it would have been a massive shot in the arm for the season but now it is another disappointment after 65 mins or so of very good performance.

Probably a bit obvious but the try being disallowed and then the mess between Murphy and Murray that let them in for a try after some great defense basically swung the whole game and gave them all the momentum and we just couldn't get out again...

We will prob win next week. Then it be anothering hamnerong by leinester week after. Even if we were 25 points up at half time against leinster on 24th does anyone believe we would win. Something very wrong in mentality of squad

Surprised to see so much negativity, thought that was a courageous performance with lots to be encouraged by. Disappointing to let it slip but would have taken that result before the game, there's no shame in running out of steam away in France against a strong opponent with a team full of teenagers and debutants. Not to mention the fact that we likely would have won were it not for an extremely pedantic refereeing decision, the likes of which you'll never see called against a bigger team.

Montauban lost at home to Black Lion this weekend, we should be able to rotate and still put a bit of a score on them. Unfortunately a home round of 16 tie is now out of our hands.

Agreed.. But we should be fair to him, it is a use him or loose him policy…

Personnally, I think Devine is more important to us than Blade… I would be investing more minutes there…

Strangely, I think Blade would go very well in Ulster or Munster… He is faster than their present number one SH…

They had 13 changes as well. More excuses.

A lot more negativity in here than there is any need for. The two points plus the osprey result leaves us a chance to get a home quarter final which would be a net positive for this competition.

Thought West was absolutely outstanding at 13, and I've said it before but we should never see Forde anywhere but 12 again, it's where he's best so stop messing him around. Both sets of front rows showed up really well in the scrum against a big french team. If we could put a roof on the Dexcom then Ioane would be an ideal 10 for us, ball in hand he's magic.

Throwing away the lead is never good but it was a heady mix of fatigue, bad luck, mistakes and callowness. We need to stop doing it but this isn't the game to be most upset about it.

I said we could take 60 so to be there and fighting to the end was great to see

Congrats to the young lads getting their first drink today too, hope they all have long successful careers

There honestly cant be another team in professional sports who have rolled over and given up as many embarrasing comebacks as we have the last 3-4 years. When youre 90% sure its going to end badly when your team is 31-14 up what's the point in even watching. What's comical is that in all the times we've given up big leads over the last number of years we always almost have time to come back and snatch it and we never do. On the law of averages you'd think we should have gotten a dodgy penalty from the restart at least once to get back ahead
