I'm on the old 3 €20 plan myself and had quite a lot of hardship trying to get 5G Access. I got a text to say 5G is free for all and when I went to the live chat they said it means it's free for all on the new plans that take your credit and that if I wanted 5G I'd have to switch plans! Alternatively I could pay €5 for the 5G addon. They asked for a screenshot as proof but I was firm with them that that wasn't at all what the text said and would constitute false advertisement otherwise. After some back and forth and me asking to speak to a manager suddenly "as a gesture of goodwill" they added the 5G addon to my account!

Obviously YMMV and now that 5G is a lot more widespread I hope you won't have any problems like that with getting it added! Just get onto livechat and ask.

I'm still on that plan too. I have had them call me a few times trying to get me off it lol.

I have 5G a long time now on it. I have never paid for it.

    Legacy plan here too.

No idea how long I've been on 5G, no calls to 3 or anything, just have it.

They cannot take the plan off us, provided we continue to top up by €20. There's even still people on old O2 plans with free O2 to O2 calls for life!

It's funny because I work for eir and get a free SIMO as a staff offer, but I'd still rather stick with the plan I have with 3! Top up by €20, get unlimited data and a bonus €4 credit, then spend that €24 on Google Drive storage/Google Play subscriptions/apps!

Do we not get free 3 to 3 calls any more?

I'm pretty sure I did the last time I made one.

Pity there isnt a decent VOIP/app you can use the credit over too make calls with, youd use about a 5er to make a call now

I was looking for something on Apples website the other day and noticed you can pay for your iCloud storage or Apple plan (TV, iCloud etc) from 3 credit. Has it always been the way? Had a 3 sim that had E200 on it and planned on starting to use up the credit on subscriptions but Three expired the balance a week after I switched on the sim card again. (the sim was used in a modem for years so got moneys worth eitherway) I know they have it on newer plans that top up is only valid for 186 days or something but they hadn't cleared out the balance before so assumed it didn't apply to the old keep your credit plan…..

Does that mean you can have Apple TV on a Firestick or would I need an Apple device?

Just posting a update to my

post about getting 5G on 3prepay legacy plan, in case of interest to anyone in future who may be in a similar position.

To cut to the chase – I have it now.

TDR – things got very confusing!...

    (1) Yesterday, I decided to ring support (1913), and the agent insisted my plan is limited to 4G, despite the text I got last year. I could not find documentation of that restriction and asked him to send it, but he said this was not possible.

    (2) As originally advised by @feargantae

, I used the Chat today, and was gearing up to do as in that post, arguing false advertising and asking to speak to supervisor. However this agent (who had confirmed my exact location) told me 5G was applied to my account, but the reason I couldn’t see it was that I am not in a 5G area! I told them I was pretty sure I was in coverage, being in a densely-populated Dublin suburb. I asked them to send me a link to their coverage map, but they said this was not possible (for internal use only). I then thought actually look at my phone, and lo-and-behold , I do have 5G. To my shame, I don’t know the last time I actually checked, so don’t know when it appeared! I told them this, and they seemed surprised. Before wrapping up, they of course offered me a bill pay plan, which politely declined. Then, unexpectedly, they asked if I would like a free 10 euro goodwill credit to my account, plus 3 more over 3 months, so I said yes, after being assured this would not affect the status of my plan.

(I later confirmed on https://coveragemap.comreg.ie/map that my area has good 5G coverage.)

    Take home’s:

    (1) Different support agents may exist in parallel universes with alternative facts?

    (2) I should have checked my 5G status right before initiating the communications

That is so strange. A completely different response than what I got. But the free credit is nice too!

I actually got a text myself today saying if I top up by €20 I'll get €20 for free. That's €44 with the app bonus for €20! Long live these random Three bonuses 🤣

Anyone else have issues paying for spotify with vodafone credit? Just did a chat with vodafone but they say Spotify are not accepting the payment method.

The whittling begins… Got a text from Three saying unused credit balance validity will be reduced from 180 to 100 days starting 13 May.
