The criticism of Klopps lack of a plan B was widely discussed during his tenure. But the admiration of his plan A is why his time was magical.

This guys got no plan A and has firmly hoovered up any of the remaining Klopp fairy dust.

I Never had an issue watching houllier or benitez teams.

But this rubbish is on a whole other level and I won't pretend it's not happening

Klopp won one title in was it 9 seasons - there was no clamour to get him replaced as I recall, and we had bad runs under him from time to time.

Leeds defence was not excellent, they weren't asked any questions-they just sat deep and we didn't move them around at all.

You are using Dominic as an example there-and he's a good example. Like every other player, Dominic has gotten in the habit of stopping, turning back to his own goal and making a safe pass at the first sign of any defensive pressure. It's obviously coached into them, they all do it now.

That's not winning football, it's not losing football-it might be OK if you're a team of set piece specialists (like arsenal) who can turn the game into a set piece contest to won games, we're not that side.

You shouldn't need magic to beat some of these teams we're playing shít against.

Some consistent intensity and patterns that release our best players into space, or provide opportunities to our attackers should be possible without a goal from the gods.

Leeds are not good. And we're supposed to be the Champions.

I am absolutely convinced Slot has no long term future at the club and the only question now is when and how he gets replaced.

I simply cannot see how a manager who has shown zero signs of improvement since January is going to magically turn things around. There are no green shoots.

This squad of players should be title challengers and we are definitely far from that.

he’s managing like someone who knows their job is on the line and so it’s all about just not losing hoping that’ll be enough to save him.

I think your memory bank is doing you a favour there

Just the first one that comes to mind, what were you thinking of?

We are Champions. Enjoy, relax, cop on.

Amazing the amount of 'Comical Ali' style posters on here who can't see the bleeding obvious regarding Slot. Too big a job for him not helped by hughes and edwards.

    Cringe. Enjoy what exactly? 🤷‍♂️

Are you enjoying watching us give away our title with a whimper this season while playing absolutely turgid football? I guess that’s how we differ.

how is the job too big for him when he won the league in his first season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,594 ✭✭✭jesuisjuste

FSG are fairly business savvy, and it is likely if Slot continues on into the champions league knockouts and maintains top 4, they will allow him to see out the season. I think he will probably achieve that.

If things don't improve over the next few months, FSG will be concerned for next season, and likely not want to open the purse strings in Summer. If things play out that way, it would be wiser to get someone else in then.

    Is this a troll account?

I don't know what is going on during training, but something there needs to be addressed.

This has nothing to do with Jota.

Something has gone wrong and the longer this goes on the less likely it is that slot will be the one to recover it.

At times I feel if the shackles were removed and the team allowed to play football then things might improve, but I agree with a previous poster who said that slot seems to be managing this team now with an eye on keeping his job. There is a fear in them and someone needs to give them the belief - the talent is there.

    It's been a mad season.

Ekitike is some gem of a player. Awful pity Isak got injured just as he was settling. But we signed him for 6 years not 6 months.

Nobody is taking the medals off the lads who won it last year (contrary to what some seem to think!). Very natural that most/all of them have had a dip in performances after their champion performances last year, and of course factoring in the Jota tragedy. Great managers Clough, Graham, Wenger, Klopp had 8 titles between them and 0 successful defences. There was no chance we would defend it this year. But with Slot we will be right up there again next season.

It does not matter that we will not win the title in 25/26. Not one iota. We are the 24/25 champions. It was beautiful and will always be beautiful. The people who want our champion manager sacked, given all the circumstances. are frankly @$**$. Slot will not be sacked as FSG are not idiots. Slot will absoiutely win more trophies for us.

He did this a number of times in the Dutch league. I believe it was highlighted by the media when we signed him.

Dutch league is very different of course so won’t be as easy.

One thing that is puzzling me is that last season it seemed as though Slot knew what to change at halftime to get the result. That doesn’t seem to be happening this year.

I find it hard to believe he has been found out. Just another weird thing about the season

You are correct, we won't win this year and nobody is taking last years title off us. But, our performance this season is woeful. So much so, that a CL place will be a genuine battle. It's a downward slide but at a rapid pace.

We saw how much damage in the ability to get players is when out of CL. Look at Utd, it's critical for them to get back. And that's who we are battling with, a team whose own fans hate their football and some here are trying to dress our season up as not that bad. It is.

some of the stuff supporting how bad we are is absolutely crazy on this thread but this post is honestly one of the most bizarre I have ever seen.

hard to believe that there’s someone who is supposedly a Liverpool fan saying it doesn’t matter at all if we don’t win the league but here we are. Natural to have a drop off, never winning the league this season.

Absolute peak revisionist nonsense. Small time loser thinking from people more interested in coming across as the biggest superfan than actually wanting to see the club do well and meet its potential.

A league title challenge every few years is enough for these people obviously, after winning a league it doesn’t really matter one iota what you do next they say, they have no interest in us building on our success with more success.

I guess this season has been so bad this is the depths we’re now at.

Said this last week about the difference in the team in the second half of games last season and this season.

During pre-season I'm pretty sure we were playing very fast one and two touch football with great movement and creativity. All gone by the wayside now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,060 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Ah of course we are being entitled to think the league champions to beat a promoted team at home

  • Administrators Posts: 56,565 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

and to be clear, this wasn’t a game where we were hammering them and a goalkeeping miracle or good fortune earned Leeds a point against the run of it.

they deserved the point. We were absolutely toothless. We could still be playing now and we wouldn’t have scored yet.

Of course the narrative will be to try paint it as a defensive masterclass by Leeds but it wasn’t because it didn’t need to be.

Last season was an anomaly. Slot placing Gravenberch at 6 the form of VVD Konate Salah Macca and Dom plus the goal combo from Diaz and Gakpo won it. However as teams pushed up on Grav in the second half of the season the type of stuff we are seeing now became apparent and its been a drudgefest.

I'd like to know what Edwards and Hughes are doing to support Slot in this period. They heaped a people change management challenge onnhim way beyond his capabilities. He says all the rightnthings but gets that into execution is clearly lacking. The lack of intensity and physicality is pretty bad Dom and Wirtz pulled out of a few today. Macca looks like a 40 year old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,585 ✭✭✭kingshankly

Wirtz lost possession 15 times in the 60 odd minutes he was on the pitch that is absolutely shocking

Can’t remember the last time we played such mind numbingly dull football. Must be either the fag end of the Rodgers years or Hodgson’s entire time in charge.

We might (with a bit of luck) sneak into 4th or 5th at the end of the season but I think it would be best for all to shake hands with the manager at the end of the season. And go our separate ways. Unless there is a significant improvement in the second half of the season on what we have been producing for the past 10 months. Right now it’s difficult to see that happening.

They heaped a people change management challenge on him? You make it sound like he wasn't involved and didn't have any input into the planned squad change. I've seen several interviews with Slot where he clearly states that a significant change to the squad in summer 2025 was part of his own planning as he wanted to transition the squad he inherited (and didn't change one bit bar bringing in benchwarmer Chiesa) to one which he feels is better equipped long term to compete across the PL, CL and other cup competitions.

Edwards and Hughes aren't going on solo runs randomly buying players which Slot then has to integrate and play, it's quite the opposite.
