New Year's Treat was very enjoyable. Big Zu should really have been on a full series.

Season 21 lineup looks good. Joel Dommet does awful tv shows but he's quite funny and weird. Armando Iannucci is a very surprising addition

Having two Oscar nominees is mad. Both of them are brilliant and bring a unique humour. Joanna Page always comes across as lovely so she should be great. Joel Dommet I can take or leave but he has that personality that should work with Taskmaster. Amy Gledhill is also very funny. All in all, should be a good series!

I'd describe this as "Taskmaster-adjacent" but..

New Zealand comedy airing later written by Paul Williams. And stars Rose Matafeo, Williams, Joe Thomas and Bret McKenzie.

Also will feature appearances from the likes of Tim Key and Sam Campbell.

Was at Mike Wozniak's live show in London

If anyone listened to his superb St.Elwicks podcast, its quite similar to that. His show was very good at times but other times it slightly dragged.

Sam Campbell was sat the row behind us, my wife said hi and he smiled awkwardly.

We saw Mike pottering about a couple hours before the show but we didn't want to bother him.

Also saw Rosie Jones who was sat opposite us in a cafe, she was wearing headphones so let her be

Probably unsurprising news, but Taskmaster has been renewed for another 6 series', including all Champions of Champions and New Years Treats.

So at least three more years of Taskmaster.

Once we get a Champion of Champion of Champions after the 25th season, I’d be happy with that.

Was an OK episode. Tasks were pretty bad apart from the live task. Decent enough group, Joanna seems like she'd be some craic on a night out

I really like the group but those recorded tasks were bad.

The find a worm task was just crap. The 'trick' that patatas had a worm in its bum was weird and the camera constantly zooming in on it didn't make it any more obvious.

Props to the team of three figuring out the feed Greg task but to me it was beyond difficult to work out. Taking 35 minutes to figure it out is not a sign of a strongly thought out task.

The tshirt cannon task was boring. Barely giggled throughout it.

Live task was very good and Iannucci really added to it.

I've high hopes for the series but not the best start.

I enjoyed last night, T-shirt cannon was a bit rubbish but the cast seems well balanced. Joanna being chaotic might be the running gag of the series

I thought the recorded tasks were fine. The cast are decent enough that even just them having fun with the t-shirt cannon was enjoyable. The worms task was more just an intro to the different styles of the contestants. And the team task, while it took the team of three most of the time to figure out the system, in fairness they were hitting it pretty lucky that they were getting maybe three correct each time before being told No, so that made it longer for them to realise there had to be a different system in place.

They seem like a strong cast though. Could be fun to watch.

I fear the bit with Joel and the egg is going to become tiresome pretty quickly though. Same with that "Secret Task" bit from a few series ago where Alex would ask them if they found the Secret Task in each episode and there was pretty much zero payoff to it as they just had to roll it into another task anyway.

Has the makings of a really good series but in agreement with others, the tasks need to improve. Joel and the egg is going to get boring very quickly.

Poor enough tasks again tonight. The bowling and mirror ones in particular were pretty bad, I like the contestants though, they're a likeable group

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,437 ✭✭✭✭Basq

I enjoyed the bowling one.. felt like classic Taskmaster. I never find the performance ones, like the mirror task, entertaining.

Honestly didn't expect to enjoy Joanna Page as much as I am.

Not a weak link in the contestants really.

Yeah I've no issues with the tasks last night. Kind of wish they hadn't shown the second hidden bowling ball. There was no reasonable way they could have found to check there and it ended up being irrelevant. Normally that's only fun if there are clues that the contestants missed or one contestant comes close to discovering it.

The mirror task was enjoyable enough. You always need a few of those more creative tasks like that which allow the contestants to do almost anything they want. Some of them felt pretty similar where it was just some kind of dance, but Armando repeatedly jumping through the air was funny.

Yes, I like the contestants also. The bowling task was ok for me, but I thought the mirror task was an absolute stinker.
