Well he didn't just criticise Israel though, he literally said in a tweet that he supports hamas. I don't think people should be arrested for tweets though, unless maybe if they are a direct incitement to violence or terrorism

Theres no comparison between the targeting of civillians by Russia compared to Israel.

I'm sure this is of no surprise to regular readers/contributors.

Since the start of the current "ceasefire" in Gaza, Israel has killed more than 5 Palestinians every single day.

Of course, that doesn't include those killed on the other Israeli fronts, especially Lebanon where, coincidentally, there is also supposedly a "ceasefire".

More on Israel's recognition of Somaliland and the expatriation of Gazans to, presumably, some kind of camp there.

    Haaretz:

The UN Security Council plans an emergency session on Monday to address Israel's recognition of Somaliland, an unrecognized breakaway region in Somalia that has been recognized by no other country. The Associated Press reported that earlier this year, the U.S. and Israel reached out to officials of three East African governments, including Somaliland, to discuss using their territory to resettle Palestinians from Gaza.

Remember that settler lad who bludgeoned the elderly Palestinian woman whilst she was harvesting her olives? I wonder if Israel will demolish his home?

The two brothers, aged 30 and 33, of the suspected perpetrator of a multiple-scene terror attack in northern Israel were arrested and taken in for interrogation on Saturday, said the police and the Shin Bet. The IDF said it was preparing to demolish the West Bank home of the Palestinian suspect in the attack.

Yes. I will think this until the ICJ accuses them and then i'll read the reasons why and re-assess my opinion.

This is an odd reply to my last post though.

    Generally negatively?

Tell us, what are the upsides?

It’s honestly unbelievable, the level of mental gymnastics from some posters here. A constant stream of posts about Israel’s right to self-defence, the poor, helpless state trapped in a hostile region, forever on the brink of extinction, somehow incapable of responsibility for its own actions. “They made us do it”

But on land theft, illegal settlements, and the forced removal of people in the West Bank, things that have absolutely nothing to do with self-defence, the strongest response is that it’s viewed “generally negatively.” And that’s it.

Spending post after post justifying mass civilian deaths as self-defence, while barely shrugging at decades of occupation and land seizure, is complete bias in what is being excused and what is being minimised. Saying something is viewed “negatively” means very little if it never actually changes the conclusions being drawn.

Attempting to justify the deaths of tens of thousands of people, most of them civilians, while treating occupation, displacement, and ethnic cleansing as some kinda footnote is completely disingenuous and hand picking to suit a narrative. Ignoring it is either a serious misunderstanding of the situation, or a willingness to excuse almost anything as long as Israel is the one doing it.

There is a constant narrative that Israel is the victim in all of this, acting reluctantly and defensively. But how do people reconcile that with the reality of ongoing land theft, settlement expansion, and the steady removal of Palestinians from parts of the West Bank. A state that is actively taking land and entrenching an occupation cannot at the same time present itself as a purely defensive party reacting to threats from outside.

Using self-defence as a permanent get-out-of-jail-free card doesn’t work when one side is the only one expanding territory, stealing land, and flattening cities. At some point, when constantly bombing, occupying, and forced displacing people, the self-defence argument stops being an explanation and starts being an excuse.

Colonialists always describe their victims (those still alive and those murdered) as terrorists. It means nothing in the context where it is resistance against the invaders and ethnic cleansing. Colonialists prefer to wipe out all inhabitants including the elderly, children, and babies. They appropriate their property and wealth. Nazis stole valuables from the Jewish population in Europe and immigrating Jews stole property from Palestinians (the last batch of Settlers have continued this thievery).

How is Rabbi Eliyahu Mali these days?

The Israel Police recently recommended shelving the case against Rabbi Eliyahu Mali of the Shirat Moshe Yeshiva in Jaffa for remarks made in March in which he said Jewish religious law requires the killing of the entire population of the Gaza Strip, including babies and the elderly.

This article discusses the use of Hamas as an excuse for ethnic cleansing.

Israel is hoping to establish a military base there. It is opposite Yemen and would enable them to control access to the Suez Canal from the Asian side.

The colonialists never stop their destruction and theft. It is 24/7 all with the purpose of removing all traces of Palestinians from Palestine.

    More from Caitlin Johnstone

A German journalist named Anna Liedtke reports that she was raped by Israeli forces after she was abducted from the Global Sumud Flotilla while attempting to deliver aid to starving people in Gaza this past October. Unsurprisingly, as of this writing there appears to be a near-total media blackout on Liedtke’s story in the German press.

Activist Greta Thunberg has been arrested by British police because in the UK it is considered an act of terrorism to hold a sign which says “I support the Palestine Action prisoners. I oppose genocide.”

Zionism is the single greatest threat to free speech in the western world.

1977 movie The Palestinian by Roy Battersby and Vanessa Redgrave. Film shows PLO as a resistance movement defending their homeland … contradicting the Israeli narrative of a land without people.

Are church bells next, no more the Angelus as they are anti-semitic!

Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s party is advancing new legislation to restrict the Islamic call to prayer in mosques.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Jewish Power party said it was working on a bill that would ban the call to prayer unless it is licensed by the state.

Approval would depend on criteria set by the authorities, including volume levels, noise-reduction measures, a mosque’s location, its proximity to residential areas and the impact on nearby residents settlers .

Qatarigate is picking up some traction…

    Haaretz:

An Iranian hacker group called "Handala" posted on X videos and texts it said it obtained by breaking into the phone of PM Netanyahu's chief of staff, Tzachi Braverman, showing him allegedly holding "lavish" Shabbat dinners, which, according to the group, "were stages for secret deals, political networking, and power plays, all under the guise of tradition."

The group said it obtained sensitive information about Netanyahu from the phone and will publish it soon, adding that the material to be released is linked to the alleged ties between Netanyahu's aides and Qatar.

"Earlier this month, 'Handala' claimed they had hacked former Israeli PM Bennett's phone and circulated contacts and correspondence said to belong to him.

The group, apparently named after a cartoon Palestinian child who became a national symbol, specializes in so-called 'hack-and-leak' influence operations, which typically involve leaks – or alleged leaks – of information purportedly belonging to senior Israeli figures or institutions…

Since the start of the Gaza war, the group has published dozens of posts containing material it claims to have leaked.

More recently, the group launched a website listing the names of scientists and high-tech professionals it claims cooperate with the IDF, publishing their personal details alongside a 'price' on their heads"

Just when, yet again, you really really thought they couldn't be any more depraved.

"A beautiful pilot" - has the whiff of Trump off it….

    Haaretz:

Ben-Gvir said that the Border Police "have begun a beautiful pilot" in the Jerusalem area "where they are shooting at undocumented Palestinian workers" attempting to cross into Israeli territory "and thereby reducing" their numbers.

Do you think the pro-Israelis here are going to weigh in with their outrage and condemnation? No, me neither.

A car was torched and hateful graffiti was sprayed on a house in the town of Hawara, Palestinian media reported.

Footage from the scene showed that the house was sprayed with the words "Revenge, greetings from Beit She'an" – the northern Israeli city that was the site of a deadly terror attack last Friday – alongside a Star of David.

This must definitely get the attention of the Pro Israelis here and they condemn the IDF - especially as Irish Soldiers are in the firing line. Or maybe not…

    Haaretz

France called on Israel to refrain from violating its cease-fire with Hezbollah following two incidents that occurred on Friday, during which UN peacekeepers said that IDF fire "impacted close" to their patrols.

The end of a year, time for a quiz. What did these six countries have in common in 2025?

Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Syria, Yemen

Yet pro-Israelis would have the world believe that Israel is under constant "existential" threat.

Israel - warmongers, genocidal state, World Pariah and harbouring two alleged War Criminals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,457 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Even take Gaza completely out of the equation and Israel is displaying all the signs of being a racist / apartheid state, involved in state sponsored terrorism, a bunch of aggressive warmongers and so on. The main appeal for their supporters in the west appears to be that they are a right wing state and hate all the right people (i.e. Muslims).

Ironically, if they truly were a 'progressive liberal western democracy', would their right wing fanboys in the west even like them? It seems very unlikely.

I had that belief for many years. Israel has not suddenly become a Pariah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,457 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Many people were warning of this years before October 7th (and were frequently dismissed as 'far left extremists' and 'anti-Semites').

I got warned a number of times years ago on this very site for calling Israel a terrorist state. This one from almost 18 years ago

So in the meantime, you get to ignore all the evidence and continue carrying water for the Kremlin.
