I think the issue at the time was they had Johnny at 10… He was going to play all their big games…

The only major centres at the time was Henshaw and Ringrose and the needed cover for Centre and Full Back (the had Jimmy O'Brien). They wanted a player to cover more positions and Frawley was a classic Peter to pay Paul…

I don't think he failed at 10 but was need somewhere else…

I am more with your thinking… I remember him coming through and thinking he best get out of Leinster because he would be a leader in Connacht or Ulster. Competing for minutes against Johnny and Ross was always going to be hit and miss…

I think Leinster saw him for Centre becuase of his size and the quality of his play… Too good to leave on the sideline and they had a centre resource problem at the time.

I'm flabbergasted that Jonny sexton had so much control over the whole rugby world that he worked his mind control over the nominators to be nominated for world player of the year in 2022.

Actually how he had the time to do that while simultaneously unfairly keeping the careers of Ross Byrne and Ciaran Frawley supine and enervated is mind boggling.

How he had time to play actual rugby during this very busy time in his career is actually very impressive.

Who's taking odds in the next World rugby CEO?

Johnny was our most important player at the time… I am no way taking away from how good of a player he was, no way…

Johnny just liked things around him to work in the way he liked it.. This wasn't all powerful and what he said goes… But he had a pretty high influence…

This happens… Big name have a say/influence in what goes on…

Saying that, Frawley move to 12 was also due to Henshaw's unavailability due to injuries.. At the time Leinster were light on inside centres…

It isn't all black and white but ross was never good enough to be Leinster's No. 2… BTW I would say Luke McGrath wasn't that great either… Ross cost Leinster one European title…

All that aside that is the worst team selection ever for Connacht. What is Lancaster up to. I see a 50+ loss

You live in cloud cuckoo land. It's not a bad team and they won't get beaten, if they lose, by anything close to 50.

Must win game tonight. 9 interpro losses in a row now if I'm not mistaken, been really tough to take. The home game against Ulster last season was probably the worst of the lot. It was the sort of gutless performance I had hoped we could consign to the Wilkins era, but sadly not. Need to see a big reaction today.

Realistically I think we need to win our three home interpros this season to have a shot at top 8.

Ulster by 15 plus at 3/1 is a slam dunk

Don’t think we have a hope of winning today. Ulster far better form.

Best of luck lads, big game.

I'm hopeful as always but fairly concerned after last week.

    the ref is hard work…

10-0 up but probably should be more. Left a couple chances behind them. Ulster haven't really turned up so far but won't continue being this poor you would imagine. Need to put the scores on the board while on top.

And as I type Ulster score from their first attack in about 25 minutes.

    Our discipline is dreadful.

Completely dominant for 30 minutes. Still manage to go in behind at half time.

Sums the season up so far really.

The last try seems to sum up the defense too some decent close in defense for. A few phases then beaten very easily out wide....

Just seen replay now and looks like 2 widest defenders just jammed in for no real reason where there was already plenty of numbers and a simple pass just took them all out

Maybe i'm the only one who thinks Ben Murphy is a poor scrum-half. He does the basics well passing and box kicks but the rest of his game is pants

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

He was good last season and deserved his cap but he's been poor enough this season I think.

Yep agreed, pretty poor indeed. I can’t shake the feeling he is a marketing selection for future recruitment.

He certainly seems to be lacking both form and confidence, he’s looked hesitant a few times but Carty is a lottery between good kicks, poor turnovers and I think he’s affecting Murphy a bit in the process.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

This is embarrassing. Pathetic team, pathetic mentality.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,312 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Ulster can bring on replacement props like Angus Bell and Tom O'Toole. Great luxury to have.

That try might be the game. Why hasn’t he made any forward substitutions yet? Crazy.

It is - but Cross is a poor referee and some of his decisions are perplexing.

The incident where he initially coaches Kok and tells him hands off, eventually awards a penalty and then McCloskey escalates it all, and how that somehow ends up in an Ulster penalty is absurd.

A scenario where an Ulster player concedes the initial penalty, an Ulster player aggravates the situation and another Ulster player enters the situation as a third man in and gets pushed to the ground somehow results in an Ulster penalty.

Lovely move for that try but think we seen since he has come on why Devine isn't starting more. 2 poor box kick attempt straight after the try and a few poor passes since he came on.

Lineout has been a shambles again and got worse since heff went off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,312 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Ioane and Devine have made a difference here. Just quickened everything up for Connacht.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭typhoony

His basics may need some work but devine has a bit of x-factor. He has made a big difference since he came on. Think it's too late

    Daft from Sean O’Brien.

That's a pretty one eyed assessment of that. A connacht penalty wasted by Bundi being an ass. If he had controlled himself it would have been our ball.
