"Strange we gone from arguing that there is too much polemic type content online to you won't get fired for upsetting someone… tell that to Ivan Yates."

YT didn't 'sack' Yates who was leaving anyway in January. He got into trouble with Cooper for not mentioning he was coaching Gavin. No loss to Ivan as he would have happily left months ago.

The idea that YouTube will allow Ryan to be controversial and he has somehow been hamstrung by the squares at RTE and Virgin is hilarious. The man has establishment running through his veins. I couldn't think of a person less suited to the YouTube interviewer role.

Bosses asking him if he would agree to do shows on Talksport? Unbelievable.

He'll be telling us next he's setting up an 'ONLYFANS' page…

I bet if the bosses had asked him if he’d agree to clean the toilets 3 dads a week he’d have been happy with that too!

Tubs is doing fine, just pisses people off that he is.

So it was always meant to just be a two-year thing and it was his decision to leave? Fair enough so, if that's what he wants to tell us.

Also, his superiors "agreed" so they were happy for him to walk away from the show and leave London? He can't have been a ratings draw if their response was "OK" when he asked to leave.

Can't wait to hear who he interviews for TALKSport. Maybe some Millwall fans live from an SE London pub? I'd listen to that.

I'm no fan of Ryan, but at this point, he needs to get away from NK for his own good.

Just to add…from my own experience of moving to London (I was there 16 years), you can't really go over there with an attitude of "I'll just do it for two years and then move home." If you do that, you'll never really settle, or build friendships or a professional network, because you have no plan to stay on.

If Noel gets Tubs a gig on TalkSPORT, he will have earned his fee. Hard to think of a more unlikely presenter/station combination.

I think what pisses people is not that he is doing fine, or that he will be fine or well, but that he makes everything out to be more that what it is.

Most people will live and let live, and if Tubs is doing fine so be it, but let's not pretend or get people to pretend it is anything more than that.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

He could replace Barry Glendenning on Sundays. Anyone can spoof about sports for a couple of hours.

Spoofing about sport for a few hours let me see, guess what broadcaster has stuffed its new schedule full of sport after 6

No some people would be happier if he was sleeping rough on the streets.

He's in the entertainment business, you have to expect an amount of hype, it's silly not to.

He could replace one of the women on Talk Sport. There is a widely held view that they have no place in sports journalism.

So you say he's in the entertainment business.

Does he know that means he should be entertaining.

It pisses people off that his whole persona and career has been manufactured by Noel Kelly. There is zero authenticity about it. The partnership should be delighted they got away with it for so long, benefitting from shambolic management at RTE. Yet they continue with the PR bullshit as if he hasn't been exposed, and online supporters (often paid) gets to call the critics 'typical begrudgers'.

He would want to be doing fine, given his lifetime earnings with respect to his talent and likeability.

Who are those supporters and who is paying them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭Cyclingtourist

Paid online supporters, got a good laugh from that one. Thanks.

The tactics are well established. Not sure boards is the force it once was, and worthy of attention these days. But it was before and you'd never know, it could still be.

Fair play for the free support, with a couple of phonecalls might mean you get to call people begrudgers for a few quid.

So the way I have it reckoned is, Tubs is semi-retired from radio now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,204 ✭✭✭techman1

He should get his comedian cousin david mcsavage onto his youtube channel, that would be entertaining and get him an audience. He should appear on david mcsavage own podcast with his former wife and sons called "and that's why we are no longer together " . Mcsavage has even been backing Ryan over the whole RTE scandal saying he was right so tubridy owes mcsavage a turn.

I think you should stick by your family. TBH. But I think you have a slight bias.

While not totally Ryan's fault his pay was astronomically and certainly not suitable for the Irish market. Indeed I would say the same about Ray D'Arcy.

Ray D'Arcy was so unfairly treated, I hope he will get something in the new year and into the future.

Is he still on Virgin Radio? He posted a clip on Instagram of himself interviewing Richard Armitage today.

    Communication was the greatest fatality
