There’s an awful lot of lightning in that trough to the southwest that’s possibly going to cross Munster and South Leinster tonight

I’m surprised no one has mentioned it

It was the weather forecaster after the ITV wales news (UKMO presented and prepared I think) who drew my attention to it,who said about it approaching wales overnight

His words were we are watching a lot of lightning in it at at moment which may become a concern for later

It was hardly mentioned at all on RTÉ there now probably because they had Monday and Tuesdays impactful weather more on their minds

it’s very active as of now and heading towards Cork city by the looks of it

It was be very bad luck if some storms weren’t still embedded as that makes landfall

A few rumbles and then one, very close, strike here at around 06:30 in Leenane, North Connemara. Guessing C-G as it dropped out the power for about 30 minutes.

Lashing now but no more rumbles.

[Edit] I take that back, flashing away again!

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

That current thunderstorm in Conemara looks fairly spectacular from the other side of the mountains in Mayo, backlighting them, some big flashes.

Thunder and lightning here in North West Clare. Some very close. Looks like there's more to come.

A couple of recent strikes just off the Wexford coast (Rosslare area).

Squall line type feature crossing through the north Midlands at the moment, moving east into Meath shortly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,818 ✭✭✭pureza

That Squal line stretches all the way down to Waterford

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,702 ✭✭✭highdef

It does, but far less defined and intense at the time of posting. North Kildare/South Meath now looks like where the most intense precipitation is falling from it. Anyone in the Enfield or Kilcock area?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Weather BOFH

Torrential rainfall from that squal line down in Carlow town, over 8mm in about 15 min around 13:30 by the looks of things. Not quite as bad back in South Kildare, about 6mm in 15 min here.
