    Heweliusz

3 episodes into the sinking of a Polish ferry in 1993. Very well made but a tough watch at times.

An animated version of Stranger Things is set to arrive on Netflix in 2026.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is set in the Stranger Things universe between Seasons 2 and 3, featuring characters viewers are familiar with, but with a twist.

    Frankenstein 2025.

8/10. The 2nd film from Guillermo Del Toro's Netflix deal after Pinnochio 2022. Great watch. Hopefully we'll see more of this from Netflix instead of steaming turds like Red Notice.

I decided to watch Frankenstein in the cinema and glad I did. Borderline masterpiece for me. Way more emotional than expected. Just excellent

Was on 2 flights yesterday so I downloaded and watched Death by Lightning. 4 part series on the assassination of US President James Garfield. Really enjoyed it. Great cast and the length felt just right, no filler.

Just finished it, a very good watch. The attention to detail of the time period is incredible but from reading this it seems like it was dramatised quite a bit.

I have been watching Selling Sunset since it was released. I liked it for the amazing properties, but in recent seasons it has been more about the drama !

Frankenstein was absolutely superb. How a movie should be. Glued to the screen and mesmerised by the end it it

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

Had no idea this was finally coming back for a third season, the first two were a lovely easy watch.

    Anyone watch Absentia?

3 episodes in and I'm not a fan of the 2 main actors, very wooden with little or no charisma.

    Is it worth sticking with?

Just saw The Holdovers is up now. Great film, of my favourites of the last few years. Highly recommended.

    Thought Train Dreams was excellent.

If you didn’t know Netflix bought it at a film festival, you can tell within moments as its stunning cinematography - heavy on the natural light and spectacular nature - is quite the opposite of the house style Netflix has established over the years.

This is very much in the style of a lyrical Terence Malick film, although it often also reminded me of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, albeit with even less action than that film. This is a meditative, lyrical look at one man’s life, in particular his work as a logger, the friends, colleagues and family he meets along the way, and the sense that death is always coming for those around him.

There’s little groundbreaking or new here, but it’s a familiar story of universal emotions told exceptionally well. A very pleasant surprise, and while I still haven’t seen Jay Kelly, I’m pretty confident this is going to be by far the best of Netflix’s big 2025 ‘prestige’ film slate in my book - and it’s the one not by an established auteur.

If anyone looking for a new Christmas film Jingle Bell Heist - is very decent and a cut above the saccharine nonsense (which I don't mind either tbh) they tend to put out.

The two leads Connor Swindells (sex education) and Olivia Holt (heart eyes) are both very good.

Just after getting round to watching this and I balled my eyes through most of the film. I've now a pain in my chest and a whopper headache 💔

I don't know if that's a recommendation to watch it, or stay away 🤧🤧

    ....…

    SNUGGLE SEASON

Does she cry a lot in it. I don't know how much more crying Claire Danes I can take.

    Sean Combs: The Reckoning

Its clear to everyone Combs is a scumbag. Some of the footage in this is surprising. Footage he recorded himself just before his eventual arrest. Easy to see why he's not happy about it. Well worth a watch. A lot I hadnt seen before. Really fleshes out how he felt untouchable and trampled on everyone he could.

    Executive produced by 50 Cent.

I know its not a movie / tv show but Id say most in the gaming forum will have already played this. I recommend it. Free from the "Mobile Games" section of Netflix app.

Who has watched Talamasca? I’m one and a bit episodes in and debating whether to give it a miss.

Other than Tescos, what shops sell Netflix gift cards?

I want to buy it with cash so just a brick and mortar shops.

I would have given up if it had been one episode a week (it originally aired like that on AMC). Need to binge it. Thought it kicked up a gear in the later episodes but it is a middling enough series. Discovery of Witches in similar space was superior imo.

I often wonder why writers bombard you with an enticing start, some interesting characters (no spoilers: guy in the exclusive NY apartment) only to bog themselves down in the second episode with the usual drag-it-out yawn journey thing.

Discovery of Witches agree, it was faster paced and had some excellent drop in characters to keep you interested. I watched it all.. which is saying something. I’m forever giving up on shows. Life is too short for dull writing.

Penny Dreadful was one of my all time favourites.

You could watch the 6 episodes of Talamasca Chronicles as a mini-series. That's what I liked about it. It finishes out some arcs and sets up a (potential not confirmed) second season.

They must have been stuck for budget though… some pretty poor attempts to have London stand in for NY.
