I honestly don’t think it’s anything to do with his athleticism or his ability in general but when he does get his chance he looks a bit disinterested and almost as if he’s sulking about how things are going.
You might argue that he has every right to feel hard done by in relation to his chances this session but Amorim has made it clear he won’t tolerate players with the wrong attitude.

I’m not saying he’s in Rashfords or Sanchos league of bad attitude but he needs to get his head down and work his arse off in training. I just get the feeling he’s not doing that or at least not doing enough. I could be wrong.

Given RA has had no issues changing CBs, Wingbacks and 10s this season that might be an indication of how Mainoo and Ugarte are performing in training. People seem to have this idea that RA is wedded to Bruno & Case as his CMs but that could just be because the other options aren't putting in the effort to displace them. They certainly aren't performing when they do get mins in the PL

Played his way into the England starting XI at a major tournament only 6 to 7 months after breaking into the United starting XI. Club should let him leave on loan in January even to just protect his transfer value. See if Atlanta are open to loaning Ederson in January if Mainoo goes the other way for six months.

Unless there's a new deal signed the club would have to look at offloading him for a fee or he can run down his remaining contract on loan and we get very little to nothing for him.

    He’s beyond poor.

Some of the goals he’s let in since he’s left us makes him look like his time with us he was prime Shmeichel.

How we paid €50m for him is beyond comprehension.

Not so much case, but Bruno.

Mainoo can't come in for Casemiro (to play beside Bruno), it would be a disaster.

So its Bruno, who plays every minute of every game. and I do get why he does. I just don't understand why it isn't sometimes at 10.

Vs Everton for eg. why move Amad to 10, meaning you have little threat on either wing from the WB, when you could have kept Amad RWB, moved Bruno to 10 and started Mainoo at 8?

When Sesko unfit/left out and we played Amad at 10 with Cunha and Mbeumo, why not Zirkzee up top or what I said for Everton.

and when he does play Mainoo, it is mostly with Bruno, and he plays them both in the wrong positions - and mainoo doesn't look good.

and yeah, Mainoo might be playing terribly in training. or he might be training well but Amorim doesn't want to move bruno from 8, or not start him. leaving Mainoo with no chance and no pathway. Maybe.

we have an option on his deal to '28. (contract to 27, with an option) so we still have a lot of leverage in that respect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,049 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

The lad ain't signing a new deal this season and it's only a six month loan. Whether he goes on loan or stays at United he'll still have two years left on his deal (1+1yr clause).

At least on loan he could end up being a regular starter and increasing his value. Sitting at United and looking uninterested is just going to see his value decrease.

Bruno was the deeper midfielder via Everton when mainoo came on

Didn't realise there was the option of an extra year. That changes my thinking on a possible loan in January then.

Thurs is too soon for Mount to start again I'd say so a swap for Cunha.

    Senne

    Maz DL Shaw

    Amad Dalot

    Brunomiro

    Mbeumo Cunha

    Zirks

Cas is one yellow card away from a suspension I think 😶

The people clinging onto him being a world class upgrade on DDG had to be on something powerful.

The worst keeper by a distance we've had in the PL.

Not to mention his Lyon antics etc. Not the right temperament by a long way

Wouldn't be a bad time to get booked on Thursday and miss Wolves on Monday night.

I'd also start Dorgu over Dalot. Will be interesting to see if Yoro gets a game or two away from the spotlight

Amass is having a very effective loan spell at Wednesday, deserves great credit as there is a pressure cooker atmosphere around the club given their League position.

If Amorim felt he would start Amass in league games if he returned in January and likes of Licha or Shaw got injured I think there would be logic in letting Heaven out on loan……could even send him to Hillsborough to see how he would cope with the pressure there.

We can't send too many more out on loan all the same. The squad isn't exactly stacked.
If Mainoo goes out on loan and Bruno gets injured then what?
If Heaven goes out on loan we are relying on Shaw and Martinez to stay fit. Big risk.

Options to recall them would be OK but sending them until the end of the season is asking for trouble

Bit of good news, Mbeumo and Amad should be available for the Bournmouth game. Villa on the 21st will be the first game they miss.

TBH I though that would be the case at worst - and I was holding out hope they would stay til the 21st, but that's a bit unreasonable tbf.

Maz probably missing Bournemouth though. Hopefully Yoro returns to form.

Mount surely one, other Casemiro or Shaw?

I heard Shaw injured his wrist holding the special "300 PL appearances" presentation award this week

    :D

I don't think Mount will be one unless something happened in training. He gave interviews after the match and said it's the fittest he's felt in a long while.

Wasn't Bruno clutching his hamstring towards the end of the game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 498 ✭✭GolfPar

Bruno was one I was thinking of when he mentioned it could alter the way we played. He was holding his hamstring which was played down as a kick after the match (I didn't see him getting kicked). If Mount was out then it is a straight switch for Cunha so it doesn't change much. Whoever it is, hopefully they are both fit because we're not exactly brimming with options in some areas.

I just hope it is not Amad, as I think missing him (at RWB) impacts our attacking play massively.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,713 ✭✭✭Caustic

Zirzkee out would seem like one that would change the way we play, cant knock as many balls forward to a big man without sesko or him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,309 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

ideally cas picks up a yellow tomorrow and misses away to wolves.

or is booked against wolves and misses at home to bournemouth.

cant have him missing when the lads are at afcon.

just be cynical about it. i dont think he lasts until afcon is over before getting a yellow. best do it when the going is good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,903 ✭✭✭keeponhurling

but Cas would be replaced by Mainoo or Ugarte presumably, Afcon won't impact that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,309 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

the team as a whole will be weaker during afcon. no point adding to that by cas being suspended for a game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭Daroxtar

If it's Bruno out it might be the spark that ignites something in Mainoo. He needs game time and he needs to step up to what he's capable of

If this is true why bother say it? Hopefully Amorim is just talking shyT
