Tiresome little digs aside, if you think there are "green shoots" then more power to you, but you did dodge the question of whether we have improved, or whether we just have better players.

I see a squad that no more suits the current "system" now than it did a year ago, and who are as uncomfortable with the system today as they were a year ago. Lots of training time these days, so why do we continue to look so disjointed?

If buying players is the only answer, then why not just go to the system that fits the players now and then buy more players for that?

Was at the game yesterday. Thought we were very lucky to come away with 3 points.

Zirkzee offers very little, bar well taken goal but thought keeper should not be beaten from there. Thought Amad was awful without the ball and looked not interested. Was very disappointed in his effort alone.

Mbeumo has had two poor games in a row now.

As for Dalot. Worst player on pitch for me, simply brutal. Like playing with 10 men.

Trying get 60 minutes is tough one for us to achieve these days never mind 90.

Good comeback but I be very shocked if we don't see poor performances like Everton again. Leaving ground didnt fill me with too much optimism in only that on paper its great 3 points.

I thought we were showing improvements in that little run vs Liverpool and Brighton.

But Spurs, Forest and then Everton were either a return to 'form' or regression, or the other games were just kinda a fluke.

Palace was the same ol' rubbish in the first half. a bit better in the second half but not like it was a performane to write home about.

I do think we are hamstrung by player quality, but after 12 months I can't help but think Amorim doesn't have the tactical plan to succeed. Is it all down to player quality we struggle to move the ball from defence to attack, or is the plan also poor. At this stage, I have to think it is both.

if this is the price, i can see us going in for him.

“It could take around €30M to sign Conor Gallagher in January. There’s a chance for him to leave. United were interested in him as an opportunity in the final days of the window in August, but Madrid said NO to a loan move”. #MUFC [@FabrizioRomano ]

    I hope not.

Just don't see the point. Can't play with Bruno, likely won't play instead of him. Would be behind Mbeumo, Cunha and Mount at 10? Not sure he's really much different to Bruno in terms of the defensive discipline either.

    Yoro's form is very worrying.

He just turned 20 3 weeks ago. Players are not the finisded article at 20. If he learns from the issues he has had in the past couple of weeks it will help him become a better player.

I know that but he shouldn't be playing with such poor form, he was visibly upset on the bench when he came off.

    Yep.

It is concerning, but also to be somewhat expected.

hopefully he can get himself out of his funk quick cause we'll not have an alternative really when Mazraoui goes to Afcon.

This is where seeing a player in training and reacting in the appropriate way for the individual is the way to go. If he is showing the right attitude in training, acknowledging his mistakes and working on those issues leaving him out may be the wrong thing to do. All depends on the individual.

Our build up yesterday was really bad and I said it during the match but it was honestly first half especially like watching ten hags team from last year 3-1-6 in possession which is fine in once sense but then it was direct balls, not winning the second balls and everyone sprinting back, palace could well have been out of sight yesterday come half time, both yoro and shaw stopped huge chances, and there was plenty more big moments on transition.

Second half wasn't any different really only place tired and we started winning more of the 2nd balls, when we went ahead we did play more possession football tbf.

I don't think we can build through the middle with cas he has no interest in getting the ball off the CBS, he certainly won't run to do it, but yesterday he stood in the cover a lot of times.

I remember specifically mbeumo dropped at one stage into the space and I think yoro passed it to him no bother and two passes later we were in at palace.

I gave Bruno stinkers on Monday for leaving his position to get the ball off the CBS but yesterday he actually only dropped once I noticed so he was doing his bit in that sense but we are never going to build with cas in the middle especially when he is left by himself in build up

The manager should sit him down and explain it.

Yoro has had a couple of stinkers for sure but hopefully the fan base don't go too hard on him (haven't seen it here just in general) he is only 20 and still learning as has been said.

Maz stepped up yesterday and he can have a run back in the team and hopefully we can give yoro some run outs in easier game conditions to build confidence before he is needed again.

Harry should be back soon so he can be an option too during afcon

if they can buy a starting CM or LWB in jan, then yeah. dont spend the money on gallagher. he doesnt increase the ceiling of the team but rather the floor of the squad cos thats what he'd be - a rotation option.

£26m might just be the price that has them coming in. we do need reinforcements in jan.

do they trigger semenyo's releaase clause?

maybe ederson? though unclear if the e30/40m is in jan or the summer. i suspect the summer.

Éderson agent André Cury: “The price for Éderson has dropped as his contract expires in June 2027”.

“Now he can be available for €30-40m, a big opportunity for sure. Atalanta wanted €70m last summer”, told Cadena Ser.

Now that Martinez is back, does this mean Heaven will get no minutes all season?

Potentially a loan move would make sense for him. He could come back next season when we have (hopefully) more games to play. Sitting on the bench doesn't help his development at this age.

I'm not agaisnt buying a long term backup player, who is better than what we have right now but would still need to be upgraded in terms of first choice.

But I just figure it has to be a guy that can come in for Casemiro, not Bruno.

    1. I would still like to see Mainoo work out, rather than sold. And that is only gonna be where Bruno plays.
    2. Bruno plays all the time. so buying a backup to him, who won't be first choice if bruno goes in the summer, is odd.
    3. No way in hell Galagher can play beside Bruno, so we still have that reliance on Casemiro, which would be insane.

I wasn't genuinely trying to make any digs and apologies if that's the way it came across- But yeah I can definitely see an improvement and I think many others can as well.

As as for our improvement obviously the new signings have made a big difference and the manager deserves credit for signing them- There are some improvements in players like Mount, Casemiro and De Ligt compared to last season whilst others like Dalot and Ugarte are just not up to scratch. The full pre season and extra time on the training ground is making a difference but players need time to settle and gel with each other. Take a look at Arteta at Arsenal- He was given a lot of time and patience to get it right (almost 6 years) and now we're seeing now what a good decision that was!! Managers need to be given time to develop their style of play and sign players they want
