Treat the dna test as fun- my decent results could not possibly be accurate.

It has been very good once uploaded to myheritage at finding 4th cousins from all over the world i didn't know about….that was cool.

Im having anpost issue too- has me worried they sent text saying i should have an expensive item delivered last wednesday and it hasnt shown up yet. The texts are usually accurate.

If anyone needs a short term job with an post i do know they are looking for part-time night workers at the m50 sorting office….

    “Roll it back”

The same one on Amazon.de is 62 euro, including the extra 7 euro for delivery!

I put this question in the "no chat" like an idiot...reposting here:

I've about €250 quid worth of stuff I've added to basket on Amazon.ie, most is eligible for the €10 off €50.

So I assume best approach is to split up the order into chunks of €50 items to get €10 back each time, or is the €10 off only a one-time thing on the first order?

Also any advantage to signing up for Prime for the free 30 days?

Any advantages making the orders via app instead of via PC? (as in app discount)

Also why so many people still using UK site here? Do they have bigger discounts? Most of the discounts I've seen appear to replicate on .IE

    1. Its a one time thing
    2. Not if you are ordering over 25 quids worth. Prime is useful for low value free delivery
    3. No
    4. UK has resale ( warehouse) a better range and a lot of the time better prices always worth checking multiple Amazon sites to compare prices or one of the Amazon price checker sites eg hagglezon

Probably make more sense to order from the .de site.

I already have. The DNA test is coming from Ancestry UK! My only concern it is will be in German or more importantly with a German return address. I bought these before for the dog and have helped elderly relatives with the human versions. I am fairly sure the previous return address was in Shannon duty free zone.

On the Amazon revolut comment. I don't have Amazon in my revolut shops. I did previously, but it disappeared one day and has never returned as an option. Checking with Revolut support they tell me it's not available to me. very odd all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,575 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Just checked there, I've not used the shop function but it's there for me...

RevPoints are great for getting discounts, have saved loads this year so always worth checking before buying anything online (not just Amazon)

I know it's odd, hence I reached out to support. My misses has it, I don't.

Purchased that powdered milk mentioned last March. Have purchased skimmed powder before and not that nice. This one tastes good, not as good as full fat milk powder, and great to have a fall back. Plus you can stretch it much further than liquid milk. Cyber Monday came and went and hardly any posts on the bargains thread, let alone Bargain Alerts itself (though i did spot a deal on a fleece from Mountain Warehouse i saw on stardeals.ie) ....was it a pretty uneventful day? Usually Cyber Monday has some great bargains

both days were crap this year, I normally get Christmas presents all sorted but prices are just going up instead

Black Friday is usually good for Lego and other toys

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Cyber Monday didn't seem to be a thing at all, and they've totally diluted Black Friday from a day of decent deals to a week/month of slight reductions from already overinflated prices. As with most things in capitalism, it was good at the beginning, and once people are hooked in the rug is swept from under them.

Overall the weekend was good. I had no cause to spend money I didn't have.

I'd just like to thank @Basq for making me buy a soundbar that I'd no intention of buying.

Granted, like him, it'll fit under my LG OLED nicely.
But I'd firmly put the idea of a soundbar out of my head. But now it's firmly back in there and I can't wait for it to arrive!

    Stupid Boards!

It was a stupidly good price though.

Glad to hear someone else bought - was chuffed with that price!

@Basq was even more irresponsible with making people spend money when he was a mod. Glad those days are over and I wasn't convinced to buy something I didn't need. 🤣

Well I managed to buy an exercise bike for 175 down 50% for black friday, rrp or "was price" (not sure which) was 350..Day after black Friday deal it was still 175 euro, this time down from a "was price" of 182. Talk about feeling like a feckin idiot, probably could have bought something better for the price I paid. No more black Friday shopping for me.

no, I don't think ive ever turned my volume up past 40 so they are an incredible waste of money in my opinion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭john boye

Do you think soundbars are for extra volume?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,878 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

i got a soundbar for the folks this BF that are hard of hearing to "soften" the sound from their flatscreen which cuts my ears with volume turned up. More bass is what's badly needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72 ✭✭platypuss

buy a set of speakers if you want to improve sound

My attic is still full of stuff Basq made me buy - he had me in Argos, Tesco and other choice outlets at all hours looking to see if I could replicate his latest bargains! My girlfriend never quite figured out why I was so keen to take her shopping at odd hours (usually just after he had posted) and how I was always picking up these massively reduced bargains. It's not like I could tell her the truth: "Grab yer coat love, Basq has posted some random bargain I don't need, but at that price, I have to get it. We'll never get a wall-climbing remote control car as cheap again."

This year's Black Friday and Cyber Monday were a near wash-out for me - I don't think a lot of places bothered that much this year. Outside of the PS5 and Meta Quest 3s, all I could see were a few small discounts dressed up to seem larger than they were, but nothing particularly special.

I did go for the Meta Quest 3S, but to me,in a lot of places discounts seemed to be on a narrower range of items than normal. The new thing seems to be advertising the discount against the Recommended Retail Price - pretty sure that used to be illegal and you had to advertise the discount against the lowest price over the previous 30 or 60 days, but they all seem to be flouting that - Amazon in particular, as much as they're normally in the top tier when it comes to value, you can see they're ignoring that rule with some of their discounts advertised. I bought something I actually needed they were advertising as having a 33% discount (and still are), but in reality it's only about a 7% discount from what it's usually sold as. (Keepa extension, but I've also been price tracking the item on CamelCamelCamel about three years as well, so know it's never been near the RRP during all that time). It was good enough to tip me towards buying, but wasn't the massive discount they were claiming.

Every single item in my basket apart from a random sound bar is cheaper now than last time i opened my cart (friday).
