My attic is still full of stuff Basq made me buy - he had me in Argos, Tesco and other choice outlets at all hours looking to see if I could replicate his latest bargains! My girlfriend never quite figured out why I was so keen to take her shopping at odd hours (usually just after he had posted) and how I was always picking up these massively reduced bargains. It's not like I could tell her the truth: "Grab yer coat love, Basq has posted some random bargain I don't need, but at that price, I have to get it. We'll never get a wall-climbing remote control car as cheap again."

This year's Black Friday and Cyber Monday were a near wash-out for me - I don't think a lot of places bothered that much this year. Outside of the PS5 and Meta Quest 3s, all I could see were a few small discounts dressed up to seem larger than they were, but nothing particularly special.

I did go for the Meta Quest 3S, but to me,in a lot of places discounts seemed to be on a narrower range of items than normal. The new thing seems to be advertising the discount against the Recommended Retail Price - pretty sure that used to be illegal and you had to advertise the discount against the lowest price over the previous 30 or 60 days, but they all seem to be flouting that - Amazon in particular, as much as they're normally in the top tier when it comes to value, you can see they're ignoring that rule with some of their discounts advertised. I bought something I actually needed they were advertising as having a 33% discount (and still are), but in reality it's only about a 7% discount from what it's usually sold as. (Keepa extension, but I've also been price tracking the item on CamelCamelCamel about three years as well, so know it's never been near the RRP during all that time). It was good enough to tip me towards buying, but wasn't the massive discount they were claiming.

Every single item in my basket apart from a random sound bar is cheaper now than last time i opened my cart (friday).
