Thanks.. yeah.. I hear you.. but the dandys are quoting €282.50 for 25 bags of 20kg country mix.. delivered.. so.. whats that.. €11.30 a bag…

Feels like Id be doing pretty well already when anything in a 20kg bag here in Galway is €15 and more… (€20 in woodies ferdeluvva)

Hi did you order the green or red bags?

    thanks

I'd check Martyns Fuels - usually decent on prices and deliver locally at no extra charge https://martynsfuels.ie/product/e85-bundle/

Don't make the error of comparing a single 20kg bag from woodies with 1/2 ton from NI and thinking you made a huge saving. Woodies are not big into fuel and therefore are more a "convenience store" seller.

Similar from martyns is about €14 for 20kg equiv. Not as cheap, but you do have the carbon tax and extra vat. But you don't need to take 1/2 ton

I dont think you will do better than the Dandys for 1/2 tonne to be fair.

If you order and pay in sterling, theres a small saving to be had (assuming you use a digital bank like Revolut, N26 or Bunq in order to get the best exchange rate).

Also may be worth a phone call, as it looks like the wrong delivery charge is being applied - this is from their website

    LPT Fuels Limited Northern Ireland

i purchase two ton of ovoids annually since 2008, always from a NI supplier, I have found the process easy, delivery prompt usually within 2-4 days, all in all a good customer experience, until now.

I purchased a ton online on Nov 8th from LPT Fuels Limited ..On the following Thursday Nov. 12th, 4 working days later when I usually receive all my other deliveries I used the WhatsApp facility on their website to enquire about delivery, I did not want to miss the driver

A nameless person responded the following day and told me delivery was 5-7 working days.

On working day 7 which was Tuesday 18th Nov I messaged again, the nameless person after pressing told me it was out for delivery in a distribution Centre and they did not know where it actually was, the tone of the message was clear, I was annoying him !

Let me stress I was at all times civil, reading back on the WhatsApp’s confirms that.

He ( based on the tone ) remained nameless on all messages, he told me on Tuesday he was cancelling the order, I replied saying I wasn’t happy with the service but I needed that delivery.

Today, two days later when the coal had still not arrived, working day 9 after ordering I messaged again asking was the order cancelled 2 days back and if so why was my account not credited back.

I sent a reminder later in the day and he confirmed the order was cancelled, when I asked a second time about the refund he told me ‘ the office look after that ‘ I replied saying that was not an answer and I would request a chargeback if funds were not returned today.

So, a friendly word of warning from a long time boards guy, the stress and hassle I have had this week not knowing if or when the product I bought and paid for on Nov 8th would arrive was not worth it.

The attitude to me, a paying customer was appalling, there are so many good suppliers out there, I cannot imagine how they would engage if there were a genuine issue with quality for example.

Easiest to avoid LPT Fuels Limited coal suppliers, life is too short for dealing with people like the guy I had the misfortune to be communicating with.

Also, the inability to identify where my ton of ovoids were in the delivery chain they have shows a failure in basic logistics.

    LPT has form.

One poster reported ordering Ecostove and then being sent another product - not once but twice.

I posted a while back that it looks like a man in shed operation - avoid.

That was me. Also the name on the bank payment statement was linked to something dodgy from Wexford. I can't remember the details.

I'm still burning the coal though. It's excellent 🤷🏼‍♂️

I also had issues and spoke on the phone to a person who definitely didn't have a Northern accent. He also wasn't particularly helpful and had a bad attitude when I complained about the delay and again after I received the wrong coal.

I did eventually receive the coal and it's very good but as I also have been buying from various outlets in NI for the last 10 years without issue it left a bad taste.

There are plenty of good operators from the North so no need to be messing with that lot.

Can you tell me who the payment is to on your bank statement? I seem to remember something strange about it and when I googled the business it was linked to something dodgy in Wexford. I can't remember the details.

LPT = Les Peacock Trading was the name.

I have started the chargeback process.

Nobody needs this hassle, only use established coal suppliers is my strong advice and stay away from this guy.

I found the article you make reference to and it is extremely negative for sure, hopefully these posts will save somebody a lot of time and hassle.

I will update IF my payment is returned, he was quick to cancel the order but not so quick refunding the payment.

    We’ll see.

Ordered from CB Fuels on Wednesday early evening, delivered this morning. Their forklift brought the pallet right up to my front door which definitely beats curbside delivery. Haven't tried the coal yet (smokeless ovoids) but overall a great and friendly service from both their office and the delivery driver. The only bit of criticism I'll give them is they said they'd ring the day before to let me know they're coming, so I was out when they rang this morning to say they were nearby, thankfully someone was home. Though in fairness, it probably would be a fairly difficult thing for someone rob from a driveway.

Coal arrived today.. feckin Langan Couriers driver was a right smart arse…

Dumped the half pallet where it suited him and then when my wife spotted him and went out to ask him to put it up at the shed .. he refused.. claimed to have run the phone and doorbell .. and twas done now and he was leavin.

But he didn't ring anything .. now I've to haul 25 bags up a slope to a shed …

further on earlier post Re LPT fuels Limited

    One director Edward Ward

    Nationality / Irish

    Company incorporated October 2024

Not responding so far to email or WhatsApp’s regarding my refund for the Ton of coal purchased on their website.

HE cancelled that order three days ago.

I don’t believe the product was ever sent out, I now appear to be relying on the card chargeback as this guy is not giving me back my hard earned £408.99 and of course I never got the coal I purchased.

I will update if a refund is made.

    Avoid LPT Fuels limited.

A refund can take up to 10 days to hit your account, maybe it's worth your while waiting for that to come through first. In any case so don't think you can start the chargeback process until a certain number of days has elapsed.

Regarding the something dodgy mentioned above it should be pointed out that the personal n was acquitted on appeal.

Probably best to stick to the half a dozen suppliers that people are using here regularly as you say life is too short.

    Thanks for the heads up.

The chargeback process is started with no delays actually as I could show evidence of making requests for my money to be returned, that was with Revolut ….now there is up to a 50 day period with Mastercard for the merchant to give his side and of course they don’t have an argument as they cancelled my delivery.

I must be patient and rely on the systems it seems

10 days would be great, J would like to order more coal.

I don’t believe any delivery was sent out as they could not tell me where it was in the delivery system so how could he cancel delivery , all very bogey

The sole director is an Irish guy called Ward, make of that what you will.

    More will get caught here.

Yes. Only approved and trusted suppliers.

Relying on chargeback, this company are not honest.

Also considering a PSNI complaint on the basis of fraud.

I see Wrays have Golden Glow Eco Glow(green bag) for £410 delivered.

Is that the best value available ?

Don't think you'll beat it? Might spur someone on to prove me wrong :-)

Ring them and haggle on the delivery. I ordered at start of October 1T of Ecoglow (green bags) for £350 + £40 delivery (normally £60). Good to deal with - delivery was fast.

What size are the eco glow green?

I have the red and the pieces are small. The coal is decent tbf, but I'd rather medium sized pieces.

For comparison I had Glo Therm last years (coyles), and I'd prefer that over the eco glow red.

They look a similar size to Glo Therm.

Thanks for that. I'll definitely keep them as an option next time I'm ordering.

    Reductions on smokelesscoalexpress

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 185 ✭✭Pat734

Do you know if that's a delivered price? I've just logged into their website but it's not allowing me to navigate it. Any ideas anyone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 185 ✭✭Pat734

I'm on the lookout for a tonne delivery now but I notice that's a sterling price and kerbside delivery, unless you're at home and have a smooth driveway. Not a back loaded forklift.

Actually I've just been on to them by WhatsApp and waiting a reply. That sterling price is still less than €400-00 delivered. I wonder is that coal good for an open fire coz the price compared to down here is very good.? Anyone got and used that type of coal? Would appreciate any help

Sorry to be blunt but you are getting cheap coal you don't get any frills. If you are lucky with a good flat drive the driver will drop the pallet nearer but otherwise its curbside.

The sellers have very little control over deliveries and just put a one tonne pallet into the Irish delivery system how its subsequently dealt with isn't there problem provide it arrives.

Edit> If you want to pay twice the price you should be able to find a local coal merchant who will deliver and stack the bags for you.

Wake me up when it's all over.
