That was me. Also the name on the bank payment statement was linked to something dodgy from Wexford. I can't remember the details.
I'm still burning the coal though. It's excellent 🤷🏼♂️
LPT has form.
One poster reported ordering Ecostove and then being sent another product - not once but twice.
I posted a while back that it looks like a man in shed operation - avoid.
LPT Fuels Limited Northern Ireland
i purchase two ton of ovoids annually since 2008, always from a NI supplier, I have found the process easy, delivery prompt usually within 2-4 days, all in all a good customer experience, until now.
I purchased a ton online on Nov 8th from LPT Fuels Limited ..On the following Thursday Nov. 12th, 4 working days later when I usually receive all my other deliveries I used the WhatsApp facility on their website to enquire about delivery, I did not want to miss the driver
A nameless person responded the following day and told me delivery was 5-7 working days.
On working day 7 which was Tuesday 18th Nov I messaged again, the nameless person after pressing told me it was out for delivery in a distribution Centre and they did not know where it actually was, the tone of the message was clear, I was annoying him !
Let me stress I was at all times civil, reading back on the WhatsApp’s confirms that.
He ( based on the tone ) remained nameless on all messages, he told me on Tuesday he was cancelling the order, I replied saying I wasn’t happy with the service but I needed that delivery.
Today, two days later when the coal had still not arrived, working day 9 after ordering I messaged again asking was the order cancelled 2 days back and if so why was my account not credited back.
I sent a reminder later in the day and he confirmed the order was cancelled, when I asked a second time about the refund he told me ‘ the office look after that ‘ I replied saying that was not an answer and I would request a chargeback if funds were not returned today.
So, a friendly word of warning from a long time boards guy, the stress and hassle I have had this week not knowing if or when the product I bought and paid for on Nov 8th would arrive was not worth it.
The attitude to me, a paying customer was appalling, there are so many good suppliers out there, I cannot imagine how they would engage if there were a genuine issue with quality for example.
Easiest to avoid LPT Fuels Limited coal suppliers, life is too short for dealing with people like the guy I had the misfortune to be communicating with.
Also, the inability to identify where my ton of ovoids were in the delivery chain they have shows a failure in basic logistics.
Thank you!
Got it ordered anyway.
The red "eco stove" bag
I dont think you will do better than the Dandys for 1/2 tonne to be fair.
If you order and pay in sterling, theres a small saving to be had (assuming you use a digital bank like Revolut, N26 or Bunq in order to get the best exchange rate).
Also may be worth a phone call, as it looks like the wrong delivery charge is being applied - this is from their website
I'd check Martyns Fuels - usually decent on prices and deliver locally at no extra charge https://martynsfuels.ie/product/e85-bundle/
Don't make the error of comparing a single 20kg bag from woodies with 1/2 ton from NI and thinking you made a huge saving. Woodies are not big into fuel and therefore are more a "convenience store" seller.
Similar from martyns is about €14 for 20kg equiv. Not as cheap, but you do have the carbon tax and extra vat. But you don't need to take 1/2 ton
Hi did you order the green or red bags?
thanks
Thanks.. yeah.. I hear you.. but the dandys are quoting €282.50 for 25 bags of 20kg country mix.. delivered.. so.. whats that.. €11.30 a bag…
Feels like Id be doing pretty well already when anything in a 20kg bag here in Galway is €15 and more… (€20 in woodies ferdeluvva)
Bought from smokeless coal express recently, first time using them and the coal, delivery took abour 4 days and much happier with the coal compared to last year using coal warehouse smokless ovoids
Has anyone ordered Eco-stove from suppliers in NI?
"Buying a half pallet of smokeless coal can be more expensive per bag compared to a full pallet. Have you considered asking a neighbor or a couple of neighbors if they'd be interested in splitting a full pallet with you? That way, you can both save on the cost per bag
Hi Folks.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had a smaller delivery of smokeless coal lately?
I just need maybe half a pallet.. but I can't manage big 40kg bags.. need 20 kg ones
Like 20 bags at the most…
Id use it in stove or open fire alongside the oil central heating.
I dont light a fire every day.. mainly weekends like.
Thanks
Would help if they published what products they sell and prices!
Wray Group. Prices on web site.

A little bit of haggling needed to get delivery for £40
I have been buying solid fuel for over 20 years. Maguires offer good quality & service.
Where did you get it from, any good deals?
Leaving logistics aside what is the best burning stove fuel ATM? I've had good and not so good outcomes with NI supplies. I'm in the market for a ton shortly and am looking at different outlets for Ovoids that burn hot and long. Quality is my main criteria.
That's a huge bonus indeed. Will give them a lash, thanks.
Had tonne of ovoids delivered by CB fuels earlier. Very impressed as I'm on a narrow steep drive, but their all terrain forklift dropped them exactly where I wanted plus pallet was completely sealed. Beats having to haul them myself from roadside.
Well after a month of burning McLaughlin’s Ecoglow (green bags) at the weekends on an open fire, I'm delighted with the output. The ovoids have been very consistent in both size and integrity, and very little ash in the bag.
Serious heat output, very long lasting and burns completely to ash with no rocks leftover. One bucket lasts me from 3pm through past midnight. The only compliant is that my grate has started to crack - but I expected as much given its not a heavy duty one and I chose Ecoglow purely because of its higher anthracite content.
I was nervous moving from traditional coal to 'smokeless' after I exhausted the last of my supply, but TBH its much better in every way except a lack of flame. But this is just visuals and I'll happily take the extended red glow of the coals any day of the week for all the other benefits.
Give them a call, I usually order over the phone as I get an idea of when they will be delivering. They seem to cover a good bit of the country and they have a good range of coal.
Hi you could ask CB fuels, because few post up. There is a post from @mikewest saying they use their own wagon and fork lift trucks. To delivery to him. But ring before buying or e-mail them photos of your drive.
Morons
Not a chance. Its a curb side pallet delivery. If they can easily move the trucks along a drive the drivers are normally happy to oblige but not on gravel or up a curb or up or down a slope.
That's great. Anyone know any other companies like this that would deliver a tonne like this with a forklift/palfinger? Driveway is on a bit of a slope/hill and last time it could only be left at the gate. If I could get it as far as the door it would make a massive difference.
€440 delivered to Wicklow, thanks.
Ordered a ton of the ovoids - thanks for that.
€445 for tonne delivered to Wicklow
