Well it's you that is bad if you didn't instantly recognise Giaus fracking Baltar 😁

Everytime Picard done something right like start season 2 by giving Rios a Starfleet ship they ruin it within a few episodes. Same with bringing in 7 and then pairing her with that absolute dose of a character.

Been doing a full watch through (for the millionth time) of TNG right from S1, just finished S6 - I think that might be the absolute best single season of any Trek show. I know everything is subjective and personal tastes may vary but it's really stood out to me on this watch through.

Took me an embarrassing long time to place him

I remain embarrassed that myself for that one. For some reason I was wondering “Why is Julian Bashir playing counsellor to Picard in this flashback when he’s supposed to be on DS9 between Generations and First Contact?”

But then yea…it took comments on here for me to realise that it’s the actor who played my favourite character in the BSG remake…just to underline how thick I am…

I agree with everything you just said. Im going to add in 2 other low parts. Having taken the trouble to re-introduce Hugh, he gets killed off. I really think it was a lost opportunity to not have Hugh come to Picards rescue in the reclaimed Borg cube at some point. It might have had the story come full circle so to speak.

I hated seeing Soji with that greasy filthy looking Romulan, who seemed to have too close a relationship with his sister. Yuck.

I really liked Rios and I liked his holograms with the dodgy accents, although I wish the English and irish holograms didn't sound so similar.

Killing Hugh, Icheb, Shaw, and Rios (he dies hundreds of years in the past) were terrible decisions.

Killing/Freeing/Whatever Data only to bring him back or have another identical Soong ancestor was eyeroll inducing.

Season 3, for it's flaws, did at least have a sense of fun. Raffi was no where near as annoying when paired with Worf. Jack actor is charasmatic.

It felt like Matalas was given the reins and had to just produce something in a one shot season which would be a bit of a party piece for the TNG crew, which is what everyone wanted when Picard was first announced. Stewart's ego and pull dragged season 1 under to be honest. He had too much sway over Nemesis too.

Season 3 killed Ro and Shelby for no reason other than shock value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭NRH

Shelby also meant to be on the bridge of Enterprise F in a cheap office chair.

but yeah S3 had flaws no doubt but was still a bit of fun at least and a better swan song than nemesis

I believe I read somewhere that Ro was not meant to be dead. But they ran out of time to film her rescue along with Tuvok. (Cannot remember where I read that)

I was pissed they killed off Captain Shaw. He was great.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

One thing I will say, Liz Kloczkowski absolutely knocked it out of the park for the set of Ent D

Interesting thought. We always talk about the best episode etc but what's the "best season"? Overall I'd probably go for TOS season one, but of the more modern shows I think season six of TNG could be good bet. DS9 season four maybe?

DS9 Season 6 is a strong contender alright. A lot of standouts there. Though hard to choose from seasons 3 - 6 which were all really great. Similarly for TNG, so hard to choose from seasons 3 - 6.

I think Voyager season 4 should get an honourable mention given how generally maligned the series is. There were some really great episodes in that season (and in season 5).

    Ooo…not an easy pick.

Top of my head: TNG Season 3.

I can’t remember skipping any in the season which includes:

    • Worf’s backstory and expansion of Klingon lore, setting up TNG Klingons as we know them
    • “Good Tea, Nice House”
    • ”The Enemy” & “The Defector” 2 excellent Romulan episodes where they even connect them with a plot thread!
    • Booby Trap
    • Our first ever visit to the Delta Quadrant in ”The Price”
    • Irish Reunification by 2024 thanks to the ‘Ra (Hey…wait a minute…)
    • Tin Man
    • Data nearly kills someone in revenge in “The Most Toys”
    • Yesterday’s F*cking Enterprise
    • Sarak becomes best buddies with Picard
    • …and Star Trek’s first ever “To Be Continued” because the Borg did something bad in a episode who’s name I don’t remember….

So yea…TNG Season 3 has got a lot going on there.

Yesterday's Enterprise always feels like a much later season episode.

Season 2 of DS9 is massively underrated. Starts off with an amazing 3 parter about a coup on Bajor led by Frank Langella and ends with the first Jem Hadar episode.

In between its got the first few episodes about Odo's origins and Garaks too. Also some good one offs like Sanctuary and Shadow Play.
