as long as you know what you’re signing up to and can’t revert back it’s fine

    The internet isn’t for everyone

One month after signing up with Flogas my application still hasn't been processed. Have spoken to them twice on the phone and have been told they don't know when it will go through as they're dealing with a large backlog. So for the past month I've been paying the full amount with Electric Ireland as my previously discounted contract expired on the 17th October.

    Shower of w@nkers

this is terrible… why do you not have the discounted rate since you completed the application and you provided your readings? what do they say on this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 447 ✭✭Lester_Burnham

How could Flogas give him a rate if they're not his supplier? Do you think he should pay both suppliers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,468 ✭✭✭Billy Mays

Got an email a few days after signing up saying they were swithching over to a new system and new applications were being put on hold for a few days and would start being processed from the 28th October. That was 3 weeks ago now.

Girl on the phone couldn't tell me how long more it will take and to lodge an official complaint when it is processed.

Was looking to move and they have been coming up as the best value. Quick google to check for any issues led me to trustpilot where there's a lot of similar complaints to you. Seems they have updated their systems recently which has caused havoc. Great timing by them. Will steer clear.

Not a bargain but might influence a decision to move elsewhere.

For those using the Energia Smart Drive 2am to 6am plan the standard discount seems to have dropped to 10% now from 15%.

    2am to 6am - 9.42c

    All other times 40.16.

Very tempted to move to pinergy now.

    My next move….

This looks like a no brainer move……

Depends. What is your actual use rather than use the average.

There is other offers out there that have a lower unit rate but higher standing charge or more cash back.

Pull up your bills from last year and see what you actually used

    Meter Reading History -Summer readings.jpg

As you see, bi-monthly summer readings; well below average user.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 447 ✭✭Lester_Burnham

I have no idea what that's supposed to show us but if you're a well below average user then making calculations based on 4200 kWh is pretty pointless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,876 ✭✭✭Nollog

If your useage is bellow the "average user", cashback is usually the best option.

Grab a calculator and check yourself based on your own older bills if you like.

    Final update on this

Still haven't heard anything from Flogas so rang them again this morning. 40 minutes waiting to get through then was told that there's been a glitch with their new signing up system, my application can't be processed and that I'd have to sign up again through their sales department.

So that's 5 weeks with zero communication from them on the status of my application, paying full price for electricity with my previous supplier to be basically told "soz, we f*cked up, can you sign up again please?".

They can stick it. Not giving them a f*cking penny. Genuinely the worst company I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

Back to Energypal to see what the next best deal is.

I finally gained access to the Flogas portal today having registered on 17th October. No bills yet since I joined in October, but there's no sign of the €150 welcome credit I signed up for on the account balance. Hopefully it will be included with the first bill next month.

I'm due to switch soon. Have a non-activated D/N meter. Looks like I will have to activate and go to Yuno 😯, that e265 credit is too tempting

    Folks,

I'm out of contract on electricy. For an average user paying by direct debit with a smart reader, is Yuno the cheapest?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,919 ✭✭✭wassie

I went through same issue with Flogas a few months back, also being eventually asked to re-sign up again. By that stage I was already signed up with Electric Ireland who had me sorted in 48hrs.

Was after their fixed rate, but EI ended up being cheaper with their discount on offer at the time, but I do also expect a price hike come the spring.

Just done the annual switch 21.11.2025 (non-smart plans).

Was with energia electric 38% discount @ 26.44c since price rise, and SSE for gas 20% discount 0.091c since price rise (inc VAT).

Moved to Fixed Dual Fuel with SSE as their fixed electricity 0.2463c (standing €240.97) & gas 0.074c (standing €152.31) were best for me (all inc VAT).

FloGas was close, but I've had issues there, and their standing charge for elec is a bit higher. Gas and elec rates were 0.02409 (standing €275.39) and 0.0741 (standing €151.18).

Yuno was also in the mix 0.25 (standing €207.08) and 0.0754 (standing €150.03).

Others, even with advertised discounted plans / cashback weren't really at the races.

    BG 0.2912 / 0.0793, EI 0.2641 / 0.0845 and Energia 0.3199 / 0.0845

Anyone know if this welcome bonus and plan is available to existing renewals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭esker72

Was on EI with 30% and came to end of contract and they offered 24%. Flogas was cheaper but given the problems and delays reported here I ended up sticking with EI for another year. Reckoned any big delays with Flogas would result in big bills with EI which would eat into the price difference. Energia, BordGais etc, don't seem to be even trying to compete

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 463 ✭✭in2dark

Anyone having recently switched to flogas? Are they still facing delays?

I called them and they said issues are resolved but i prefer to hear real stories and not sales people words...

Im due to switch end of this week and the fixed plans work best for both my e and g

The smart ev deals out there don't seem to be the greatest, from looking its perhaps Electric Ireland seem to have the best one per the below unless I am missing something? We have a hybrid car so only need to charge it 2-3 hours max per night.

    Day: 08.00 - 23.00

    30.53c per kWh

    Night: 23.00 - 08.00

    15.05c per kWh

    Night Boost: 02.00 - 04.00

    8.84c per kWh

    Gas unit price

    9.390c per kWh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,700 ✭✭✭ongarite

there is no value in dual fuel at the moment.
switch to Flogas fixed or SSE at 7.4c unit for gas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,758 ✭✭✭rx8

9.39 for Gas is way too high. There's much better value out there atm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭Dr.Winston O'Boogie

I always used to think of it that the saving on the charge of the car outweighed the slight more expensive gas rate, in particular during the summer when hardly using gas. Although this SSE Airtricity rates are pretty decent in comparison:

    Meter type

    Fixed rate
    inc. VAT

    Standard rate
    inc. VAT

    Smart Day
(8am to 11pm excluding peak times)

    26.07

    43.52

    Smart Night

    16.75

    27.97

    Smart Peak
    (5pm to 7pm)

    29.20

    48.74

    Gas Meter

    Meter type

    Fixed rate
    inc. VAT

    Standard rate
    inc. VAT

    Cent per kWh

    7.40

    11.38

go with Electric Ireland night boost for electricity, which will charge EV hybrid with 14kw in 2 hours and gas only with Flogas or SSE
