Well, Cork's TOP club team bites the dust once again. Can't claim they're 40th or 50th!

Its being spoken here to death about the huge need for training teams this time of the year. If we look at our neighbors in carlow, wexford and offally and compare that to the dump i think we all agree our players deserve better. Little or no progress has being made. Alll kk teams scrambling to get pitches. I think paulstown were going to borris and tinryland. Kk u20 to cw and kk seniors trained out in danesfort last Saturday. Talking to a chap on the panel they done their first bit of a match. He was saying the walsh cup is the 4th of January so wont be long coming around. On a separate note its safe to say nowlan park never recovered from the boss and no coincidence it hasnt won any awards it was winning the last few years. It was in woeful condition for the kk match.Suprising two matches fixed for the park this weekend. The art work is cool but wouldn't ya think they would of got someone in to wash the walls first. There was talks last year about installing lights for Saturday evening games. Really are trotting after other counties in this regard and the players deserve better..as village said they got a kick in the hole pennny pinching when 10-15 years ago was the time to invest. 3 kk teams in acrion this wknd. Wexford teams uaually push kk clubs all the way at this level and the loss of jack kelly will be huge but they have a couple od nice fowards. Big news from danesfort is richie hogan is back training with them. Shamrocks without mullen who was hurling very well out around midfield will be a huge loss but corcoran should be back at 6. I think derek lyng will thank david herity for reshaping that Shamrocks team and giving him something to think about. We know theres a huge difference in club and county but he identified richie at 6 and swapping of himself and corcoran was huge. The switch of eoin cody was obvious yet it never happened in a kk jersey. He has being excellent since the move and will hopefully kick on from here in a kk jersey.killian corcoran was excellent u2o a few years ago and unlucky last year with injury. Would i be right in saying jake mullen would be allowed play from January if Shamrocks still involved?

I doubt Jack Mullen would be available if it is last years competition. I don't think he would be near that level yet. Needs to step up at his own level first. That's interesting about Richie Hogan, the lure of Croke Park with the club Is too hard to turn down

And meanwhile, theres still u22 club competitions running... mid november..

4 weeks after their last club game ... 🙄

And they wonder why its hard to put a team together for it....

    Looders.

Hardly a surprise they're beaten by ballygunner though. I think they caught ballygunner off guard last year. Never going to happen again.

I agree. Was just making the point that most of the Cork senior club champions aren't very successful, never mind their Intermediate and Junior champions.

Shamrocks have been reshuffling their pack with great success for years. TJ said as much in his interview after the Co.Final. He referenced all recent management teams for bringing freshness and new formations to their group. Eoin Cody has been sited at 11 by club and county before but never given a consistent run there. Been working so far for club ,will be interesting to see if County goes with it. He needs to take on the mantle of leader up front from the greatest we have ever had.

No they have a very poor record. Sarsfields are an average enough team. Cork can get away with not having an outstanding club team like a ballyhale, ballygunner, st thomas, because they have so many clubs and there's plenty talented hurlers in the lower grades. Think seamus harnedy club are only in the 6th grade possibly.

Massive would be interesting to know was anybody from outside the system interested or interviewed or was it a promotion from within and all closed shop from when Fennelly left

Is it just another convenient appointment for the Co board

When is the senior board convention? Any motions of note on the agenda?

Kilkenny cbs pipped kieran's by a point. Watched some of the first half. Big crowd and some good hurling. Patrick leacy is, a serious forward. Good counsel beat cbs last week by a goal so should be a competitive championship this year.

Also kilkenny cbs and good counsel in the junior final so good to see kieran's not dominating everything

I watched it all and I thought Kierans were very wasteful and they must have missed 1.12 in total. Thats what kept CBS in the game really and Julian Dwyer who let the game go a bit too much all day gave them a soft free to go one up. Kierans look good and are big and strong and should beat Good Counsel. The CBS have lovely small hurlers but the pitches, weather amd their size will go against them in the next 2 months.

Thats disappointing that Good Counsel can beat Kilkenny CBS who they say is one of the best teams they have had in a long time and backboned strong Kilkenny minor teams the last few years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭mooz

Was the CBS vs SKC match today league or championship?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 843 ✭✭✭Krazy gang

Well cbs probably should have won it. Missed a few goals through bad luck and good goalkeeping

League / championship. I'd say all teams still in it after league phase

Watched match on clubber there, what a service that is in fairness. Great to be able to watch back games like that.

Last free was a stonewall overcarry and wasn't soft. Kieran's were a much bigger side but both teams missed a lot of chances, albeit Kieran's in 1st half were guilty of poor decisions and poor shooting. A lot of frees missed too although some were difficult. Patrick Lacey was best forward on view and showed great composure to score winning free.

Size might go against CBS as you said, especially in worse conditions which was the case v Good Counsel, atrocious conditions that day. Both teams should end up in Leinster final again assuming Kieran's beat Counsel which I expect they will.

A bit like the announcement of the Minor management, the decision to appoint Sean Kelly seems underwhelming and basically same old same old. Mick Fennelly was progressive and had new ideas, and by all accounts was frustrated by the conservative dinosaurs that run our county board. I'd be fearful Kelly is a handy pick who won't rock the boat there and suits the power that be.

Meagher and his team to be ratified for Senior team.

('to be ratified' .... even though they are running 'trials' already?? )

Surely some club reps will ask why both positions weren't advertised. At u23 did the previous management step down or were they replaced? At senior 1 of the backroom team I now manager and the rest are gone (what's the story )

Does the Club Season Ticket give free admission to the All Ireland Club Series?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,109 ✭✭✭conor05

Kilkenny are going nowhere and Mick Fennelly saw first hand what it was like to deals with the miserable dinosaurs in the county board.

He wasn’t looking for huge money, but he wanted standards raised at underage and that obviously involved money and Fennelly got so frustrated with the lack of ambition he called it a day and that is fact.

Do you think Huw Lawlor and Billy Ryan would go to Australia if they were on the Tipperary team at present?

    Not a hope.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,877 ✭✭✭Village87

Yes, no All Ireland in over 10 years, no under age All Ireland in a long time, nowhere to train our teams in Kilkenny for 4/5 months from November to March. Some top players going travelling and a lot more refusing to be members of the county panel. These are serious issues.

have to agree with Conor and Village, one step forward two steps back,As regards to the facilities in Dunmore the C B didn’t even have to purchase the land, they got it for a nominal sum from the county council on a long term lease, and they still hadn’t the vision to accuser more land, nearly every club in the county have two pitches. The CB are like cuckoo’s and are always trying to move in on everybody else’s facilities. Could they not at least launch a five year plan to give us all some hope for the future?
