Just type 'cards' into the top search bar on your revolut app. The first entry you will get will be ' get a new card' and you can order there from free ones right up to ones costing €59.99. If you're on any of the paid plans you can order more than 1 in some cases.

I'm not sure if they send them out automatically, I've always just ordered them as per above when my regular one is about a month short of expiry.

    Thanks I'll do that 👍

I see that you can now convert €2.50 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers into 600 Avios. Is this good value?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,879 ✭✭✭pureza

It is if you use a Revolut credit card to pay for your groceries in Tesco and your fuel at certa

Nothing to do with Revolut at all, that is a Tesco/Aer Lingus Partnership.

Spend vouchers on Aer Lingus at Tesco.com

Sure, you could double dip, pay at Tesco with Revolut and also use your clubcard to maximize your avios.

Tried to sign up with MOCO BANK but my passport is expired and nothing else is acceptable.I thought my driving licence or PSC card would suffice but apparently not.

No, neither are on the EU's list of acceptable forms of ID for EU/EEA citizens, so it is 100% on the bank if they want to accept anything other than the documents listed by the EU for money laundering purposes.

Nope from what I recall it was clear enough when it was introduced and you could still have your spare change go to either a pocket OR RevPoints. Mine still goes into a savings account and never to points.

But the spare change points rate at least on metal plan of 50 points per €1 that is used for voucher redemption is a scam

Voucher: For example a €100 gets you 5000 points in spare change. All the vouchers are 14000 for €100 vouchers so it would cost you €280 in spare change to get a €100 voucher.

Esim: values 20000 points at €90 off sim cost which would be €400 to save in spare change.

Lounges: that cost €29 are 7300 in points which is €146 in spare change points.

Experiences: one there thats €25 or 3125 points (€63 in spare change)

Stays: an example 20000 points reducing the price by €123. 20000 spare change points would cost you €400

Charity: donations they again are stealing from charity or you depending on how you look at it by donating €100 for 14000 280€ of your spare change points.

Im not to up to speed with air miles and if those are more valuable with points but everything else is a scam with spare change.

Summary, turn it off and never use (be scammed by) it.

I read that this morning. It never affected me as I stopped that spare cash account ages ago. However it is a nasty sleight of hand if they did that behind people's backs.

When the revpoints came first I was using it as the spare change to create the revpoints on my account and I had a serious amount to get flights with aer lingus… when I done the maths it was almost a scam with how feck all you I got off the flights or in other words how much I got in Avios points,

I have since turned it off to spare change to my pockets and happier to spent my pockets on something I want and get my full value for money.

I know people will come here in the future complaining about it as i think it’s like a blind rip off the cost of them revpoints.

Has anyone else seen the "get 30% bonus points" offer? I don't really get it. You have to buy points, and when you do you get free points, but the cost of buying the points is a lot more than if they were earned through regular spending. I'm open to correction if this is not right, as it's just not making sense to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,623 ✭✭✭optiplexgx270

Buying RevPoint a scam. The bonus points would have to be nearing the 200% mark to give you the value in points you save in cash when redeeming them. Steer clear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,323 ✭✭✭Sunrise_Sunset

Yeah that's what I was thinking. But was questioning myself. Thanks for confirming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,879 ✭✭✭pureza

However,it is possible to buy them cheaper than avios, convert them to avios, get a cheaper than cash fare and one that’s refundable and changeable

    So not a scam

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,623 ✭✭✭optiplexgx270

Can you give a specific example and how much you save vs Avios when buying RevPoints and then at well what avios translates to in discounted fares?

Not disagreeing with you im just not familiar with Avios however everything else offered by revolut with points works out in their favour not yours so I stick by overall its a scam (excluding potentially Avios).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,623 ✭✭✭optiplexgx270

    Buy from Avios Directly:
    10000 €235.00
    3000 €85.00
    €320.00

Buy RevPoints and converto the 13000 Avios:
    10000 +30% €171.60

    Avios Redemption Samples:

Hotel: Wellington Temple Bar 1 Night: 12700 Avios or €71 Cash
Car Hire: Group E - Seat Leon Estate or Similar: 19950 Avios or €92.99 Cash
Upgrade Business: Offpeak - New Youk Upgrade 37,000 points (based on buying the options above) €910.76 Avios / €562.61 RevPoints
Pay Flights: I have 0 points in Avios and about 30000 in RevPoints from spending so I cant really get an example...

Correct me on above if I am wrong it certainly is cheaper than buying Avios but neither look very attractive unless I'm am missing out on paying for flights being where they come into their own.

I was a bit on the fence too about Revpoints-Avios until I found examples where they ended up being worth more than 1c per point to me. I have a savings account that pays the interest as Revpoints. If we assume one Avios/Revpoint is worth 1c then the interest rate pays better than anything else I could find with guaranteed pay-outs post-DIRT. There's no DIRT/tax on the Revpoints payout. Granted you need to have a need for the points though! e.g. a € 50K savings pays 126,000 points per year which in theory is 2.52% with no tax. At € 100K it jumps to 2.7%.

    image.png

Example 1: I was booking a hotel in Belfast last year. Priced it around a few websites including direct. Cheapest price was actually booking on Revolut app. Paying full amount in Revpoints wasn't good value, but for 2,500 Revpoints I got € 50 off the rate which was already the best I could find.

Example 2: Booking flights recently for 5 people to Europe. Aer Lingus price (most basic fare, no checked luggage) I think was coming in around € 1,200/1,300. Instead I booked as an Avios reward flight and it was 45,000 (4,500 each way per person) plus ~€ 460 in taxes/fees. To make things better, a reward flight includes a checked bag per person.

My concern now is with Avios being a Tesco voucher option that demand for reward flights will jump up and there'll be less options!

Anyone else discovered other ways to get 1c+ per point when spending?

I recently booked a hotel in Belfast and got a roughly €35 discount for 2900 points

I already had the points, didn't go out and buy extra points or anything

The guy at reception commented that I had got the room below the staff rate

They definitely have utility but I personally wouldn't go buying points. I'm currently in Premium and have a points pocket, that's enough for the amount that I use points

So im offered cheap hotels at a place Revolut knows im visiting as i paid my flight using the card (airline must share destination?)

Anyway, the so called deal using a mix of revpoints and cash is more expensive than my genuis discount on booking.com

I found a similar experience with Aer Lingus and Avios...

Yeah recently stayed in a hotel and 3555 revpoints got me 55 quid off which from what I've gathered is much better value than any gift cards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,623 ✭✭✭optiplexgx270

I was having a look and the 50€ off is a decent deal just a shame the points go up so quickly for the higher values. 50 looks like the sweet spot on stays.

Anyone else with the Rev savings account think they got the wrong interest amount today? Mine significantly dropped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,045 ✭✭✭✭Mimikyu

Just checked mine there and it’s less than normal also. Still showing as 2% on the account but interest rate works out as 1.75% if my maths is correct.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,323 ✭✭✭Sunrise_Sunset

Yes. Since I posted I checked my statement and the gross interest rate applied was 1.74%. It should have been 2%. I checked back months of statements and it's always shown as 1.99% (rounding difference I presume). I contacted Support who suggested I monitor it for a couple of days and then revert back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,623 ✭✭✭optiplexgx270

I opened a case with them and they responded with this:

"Our Technical Team has confirmed the interest issue. Thank you for identifying this and helping us improve.

We are already working on resolving this. While you won’t be able to track the progress directly in the app for this type of issue, rest assured our team is actively addressing it, and the correct interest should be paid once the issue is solved.

If you have any related questions or encounter other issues in the meantime, you can contact us anytime via the Help section in your app (Profile → Help).

Thank you for your patience and understanding."

I then asked would the missed interest be backdated and the answer was:

    "Yes, of course."

So hopefully will be resolved but makes you wonder is there plans afoot to lower it to 1.75 coming...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,323 ✭✭✭Sunrise_Sunset

Good one for logging it. And yeah my first thought was the same, a lower interest rate possibly on the horizon :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,323 ✭✭✭Sunrise_Sunset

Correct interest received today. No backdated interest though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,045 ✭✭✭✭Mimikyu

There was a “refund of missed interest” deposit into my personal account at around 5pm today.
