Well done, that's a great event. Nice morning for it.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Another very wet night in Wicklow last night after a very pleasant day yesterday but it's cleared now and today isn't looking too bad. Overall though it has been a very wet and miserable autumn which is not what you want when coming into winter, it really makes the winter feel an awful lot longer. The next week looks very wet and grey too unfortunately. My garden is already waterlogged and with little drying available for the next 4 months it's probably going to stay that way. Already itching for Spring.

Lovely morning. Sun and blue skys. 9C. A nice day to plant some more flower bulbs in pots. They tend to rot if left in the ground.

This must be the mildest( warmest) Nov on record, it feels a bit strange.

We've only just gone past the first week, not even the first third. Let's save those claims for the final week of the month.

It has been difficult to enjoy the bright dry spell since yesterday because everything is mud and wet. There are large puddles everywhere which aren't drying out at all, and by darkness yesterday even the hard surfaces were still wet. Everything is dripping.

I collected 7 sacks of wet leaves off the lawn yesterday as there's no hope of it drying out in the foreseeable. And the North facing windows of the house have condensation on the outside that won't evaporate.

I'd love a cold dry spell.

Lovely morning. Still a bit of heat in that low sun.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

We got another pleasant day without a deluge.

I hope Oiche Na Gaoithe is OK . I haven't seen him post in a while. He posted before about his struggle with asthma and this type of damp weather is neither good for man or beast.

He appears to be site banned.

Nice to have another dry day with rain only overnight, but everything is still wet and swampy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 920 ✭✭✭Robwindstorm

Oh, didn't know that. I hope he's OK either way !

I think we got lucky today, I was expecting a rainy day but it was lovely and sunny in morning and cloudy but dry in afternoon.

Everywhere was wet though so must have been a good bit of rain overnight.

Happy with that weekend, now onto the next deluge this week 🙄

It's amazing how November takes a similar pattern each year. The first half is nearly always mild and apart from the odd rogue day, the second half temperatures dip to 10c or below with some frost. The same looks like it's going to happen this year.

I will give rough guidelines on the last five years early November mildness:

    2020 : 13 - 16C = 5 days

    2021 : 13 - 17C = 6 days

    2022 : 13 - 17C = 12 days

    2023 : 12 C = 4 days

    2024 : 13 - 19C = 15 days.

plenty more rain to come this week so I expect waterlogging is going to become more of an issue in places.

Looked like very heavy rain yesterday evening in many parts of the country especially south and Midlands. It's been so damp as well but yesterday was very pleasant for a walk. It was nice to see a lot of people out and about.

On another note I've notice an increase in mushrooms growing in the garden. Loads of the things! They must thrive in this mild wet weather. It's like a smurf village at the bottom of the garden

The amount of idiots one comes across on the likes of fb regarding the weather in particular. Thought this one from today was beyond braindead......

Just back from a walk and didn't notice anything. The sky wasn't that clear but there was a beautiful half moon in the east.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,618 ✭✭✭✭Oscar Bravo
