Tallow game, 5 sent off , bust up in the stands

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,608 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

at an u12 game involving Tallow earlier in the year and behaviour of some tallow supporters/mentors absolutely disgraceful, just saying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 788 ✭✭✭TheScoringGoal

In fairness there was only one match in Fraher field and only one Paul O Brien playing. Tallow Co Garryspillane.

I only watched on clubber so I couldn't see what happened in the stand. But some of the refs calls were bizarre, he lost objectivity in injury time of normal time.

what happened here? Aren’t they joined up underage??

At times sum good play by Ballygunner

    Scrappy type of game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,608 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

yea hence why I said involving Tallow I don’t know if the individuals involved in that were from Tallow or the other club joined with them

Ballygunner dug out a win, can’t say their the most likeable team a lot of fist pumping and shouting and roaring every time they win a free. Whatever works for them I guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭Asdfgh2020

you don’t watch a whole lot of games if ya think BG’s fist pumping / roaring etc is excessive. Not a big fan of it but it’s very common country wide now in both big and small ball games.

The book about Waterford hurling and hurlers - '59 - has received the highest accolade from the GAA. Congratulations to Brian Kelly, author.

Don't agree. Thought it was a good match. Winter hurling. The intensity shown by both teams was massive.

only a problem when bg do it? Go back to crying about parish border rules and catchment areas it makes more sense

Thought they showed good character after they'd let na piarsaigh back into it to get the last 3 points. One thing Dessie is not is a free taker. Patrick Fitz has a much more natural style of taking them.

    They'll get revenge on sarsfields.

Mixed day for our two Harty teams - DLS made it two wins out of two against St. Colman's Fermoy 0-25 to 2-11. They're guaranteed to be into the knockout stage (a win or draw in their last game against Midleton CBS and they'll top their group).

Blackwater were destroyed 2-29 to 0-7 by Thurles CBS. Would imagine Thurles still have a good few from last years winning team but that's very disappointing from Blackwater. Hopefully just a total off day after winning their first game. They'll need to beat John the Baptist CS in their last group game to get through to the knockouts.

jaysus that’s some whipping, considering they won their first game they can’t be that far off the pace. It’s a positive to have so many lads hurling at this level but a beating like that Dosent do anyone any good. Thurles are obviously incredibly strong

Thurles are one of the top teams in the competition again this year. I think Blackwater are a good way off that level, but if they could qualify for the knockout stages it would be good progress. Impressive 2nd half from DLS, they finished strongly and their subs made a big impact. Hopefully they’ll be at the business end of the competition.

They already had land next to the TUS Thurles Campus where they had plans to build 3 full size pitches (one synthetic). Those plans might be shelved now with the land from Magnier.

What a man. Hard to believe how quickly his career has gone it seems like no time ago he scored that hat trick as a 15 year old against Limerick in a Munster minor championship match, a precocious talent but his career hasn’t been easy just a man of pure steel. What I wouldn’t give to see him win something with Waterford before he inevitably has to pack it in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,719 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Yeah what steel he has and still angry about him not getting a run out in the 2017 All Ireland Final

Wouldn't be too hopeful reading into some of his comments in the article about commiting for another year

Suppose no news is good news regarding other retirements/opts out for 26

Depressing time of year the last number of years when the awards and accolades get handed out. It’s a bit of a final kick in the stones of the year that was, a final sting-in-the-tail reminder of what could have been had things gone differently and puts the failure to get out of Munster in the spotlight for the last time, in case we needing any reminding.

Will we ever get any further than Munster? When will we have our day in the sun, it’s just been too long at this stage…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,719 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Might have to wait til this minor crop get up to the level but as we know it's not a guarantee

Not sure what way the format will go if/when the Joe McDonagh finalists are no longer involved

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭Asdfgh2020

he has one if not 2 national league medals…? All star also…..? As most, would love to know why he never featured in 2017…..did he get any game time that year….?

I think it would have to take something special from us to get out of Munster the next couple years, the other 4 teams are so strong, we’re 5/5 in the pecking order that’s the reality. They say we need the win our home games to have any chance and our 2 home games next year are this years all iteland finalists. That’s what you’re up against.
I do think Limerick are not the force they were a couple years ago, we haven’t beaten them in a long time I’d love to see us get one over them, they’ve been a nightmare team for us. Cork Tipp and Clare I don’t think there all that much between us and them an capable of beating them on any given day but getting consistent run of brilliant performances in Munster is what’s needed to get out and weve never been able to produce that

i think the last davy year our scoring difference was -7 across losing 4 games.last year we had a chance to get out of munster IF we beat tipp at home last year. we went 5 up within a minute or 2 gone , and it looked like we were ready to cause an upset instead they won by 9 at the end and they ended up as all ireland champs and we ended up last behind clare due to a last minute rally of scores when it didnt matter dropping us behind them .

we have seen time and time again over the last few years the margin between being in an AI and crashing out of munster is razor thin ,clare and cork being perfect examples. and i think there is every chance we could have the rub of the green next year , without changing anything at all, just dealt better cards.

in saying that , there is a quiet underage revolution happening and we could face into a 4-5 year transition waiting for those lads to come of age , but the fact young hartley did well with ballygunner the last day gives me hope. iggy o regan has a nephew in goal at -15 , eoin kelly has a son coming up, fergal hartley has a second youngfella, it's a shame ken and mullane had only daughters , paul flynn has a daughter playing senior camogie and i heard he also has a youngfella . there's a good load of green shoots
