I got that too. Pretty sure it's just boiler plate letter content. The plan is still on their website and it's clearly fully fixed unit pricing for 12mths

The energy component of the unit rate is fixed for 12 months. However, if other charges vary, the unit rate can change.

See a few pages back where the BWG rate increased despite it being "fixed". I would not expect any changes to the charges after those already communicated. Hence, I would expect no further increases to the unit rate.

My reading of the letter is that it is confirming that if you are on fixed rate tariffs that the unit rate, standing charge are NOT subject to change. Only the clause relating to PSO Payments applies to fixed rate tariffs. It could be worded more clearly…

If it is a fixed plan, the unit rate will not change.

What can change is the PSO levy, which is outside the control of the suppliers.

That is made clear in the above letter.

Be careful before giving advice. FloGas have a very different set of T&Cs to other suppliers.

See here where "fixed unit rates" did indeed increase (widely known on here at sign up). Their wording is PSO Payment, not PSO Levy. This payment may include network charges (for example):

The can and have changed the unit rate on their fixed plans. The most recent increase was the October increase on the Flogas BWG Fixed Rate. The energy component of the unit rate remained the same but they passed on regulatory changes in the unit rate, with the effect of an increase in the overall unit rate of about 5%.

So I switched yesterday from Yuno to Flogas, used the energy pal app. Today Yuno rang and offered me a marginally better deal which included a 240e cashback - new customers get 200e cashback. In total saving me under a tenner a year from what Flogas would have been. But happy to stay with Yuno, I only use 2500 units a year and I like the app and payment monthly.

Now if only Sky would call me back and offer me a deal!! Won't hold my breath

How do you find yuno ? I only hear negative things about them with advanced billing and crazy estimates

Speaking of Yuno can any explain this? I'm using 49 kWh less but only using 47c less than expected?

Due to change supplier in a month from now, currently on FloGas for dual energy.

    I have a smart meter.

Who have the best deal other than FloGas at the moment?

upload your data to energypal and see what the results are 👍

My current contact for both gas and electricity will be over by this month end.

We are expected to move out to a new House in 4 months.

I believe since I will be breaking the contract I will be charged with the fees.

Any recommendations for the best move in my scenario?

I had never heard of yuno till I used energy pal last year. I read all the negative things here too, in particular about the first bill being an inflated estimate. When I rang them to enquire and told them my usage was low, 2500 kwh/year and that I would not pay their estimate up front they reduced it in line with my usage. Worked fine for the year until my contract was up. So yes, they price matched! Which I can't argue with. For me, still the cheapest.

Thanks for all the infos regarding to Yuno!
I'm not sure but having the itch to cancel the switch. The grief of signing up and nor Yuno neither Switcher.ie is eager to sort out the €350 cashback what was promised at the start.
I wonder if I rang them with the intention of cancelling would they do something about it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 575 ✭✭✭user060916

I signed up with Yuno mainly for the €265 cash back on electricity only. I'm a very low user.

Tbh the whole thing is a bit of a mess. I was given incorrect information about the process during sign up but finally got that resolved.

The predictions are mental though. So far I've averaged 3.5 units a day. There prediction is over 10 per day...

    Hi all,

If I switch to Energia from Electric Ireland, how soon after I sign up do I start on the new tariff?

Is it back-dated to when I changed, or do I have to wait for Energia to process everything?

    TIA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,585 ✭✭✭Masala

Just rang Electric Ireland to enquiry about a Day & Night Rate for me as an existing customer on a Fixed Rate….

Been advised that a Team Member will contact me .. and gave me a date 7 x Days away at 3pm in afternnoon!! So have to wait a week to speak to someone …… holy gawd !!!! thats some customer service.

They cant even tell me what phone number they will be using so as to know its not spam…. its Unbelievable Jeff.

Usually when you apply to switch, you submit a meter reading. Its that meter reading they use to calculate your closing bill and the opening meter reading for your new supplier.

surely the info would be in the website ?
Maybe you could use energy pal and see what the recommended company comes up as, it will advise you on the best tariff

I switched from Energia to Flogas on 9th Oct online and submitted a meter reading during that process. But the switch wasn't implemented until 15th and Energia sent a second final bill for another six days. So in my case the new tariff didn't kick in immediately and I had to pay full whack to Energia for the extra days since I was then out of contract for my discount.

to add to my previous post:

    • Do the providers allow moving to a different location, considering moving from an Urban to an Urban location, so everything remains the same? If they allow, then I can skip paying the termination fee and no need to return any joining bonus
    • If I take a dual plan, do the suppliers charge termination fees separately or once?

how did they get the new meter reading? Estimate?

On website … it seems to be for NEW customers.

if a deal is for new customers and you’re an existing customer they won’t give it to you, initiate a switch and they might offer you something

My energia ev night rate contract is coming to an end. Enerypal showing a 24month pinergy plan as best savings for me.

Probably won't go with it as prefer a 12 month contract right now but went onto the pinegery site to look at the plan options and it's a disaster.

Can't find much detail about plans at all, just a one liner like 5.49c ex vat per kwh then a button to sign up here. Incredibly poor interface.

I was given cash back and new customer rates from Energia to stay with them. Smart Data plan + €150 cash back. I'll stay on that until March and then switch back to the EV tariff. That doesn't incur the €50 charge to break contract, it's a new 12 month contract with them.

If you phone them, they might offer 12 months. I did that on the phone. If you've got a house battery, they make a lot of sense.

Also, their solar feed in tariff is very good.

I managed to have a bill of minus €600 for the year (including standing charge). Just charge the batteries for 5c per unit at night and sell off the excess solar and use the battery to make it to 2am without paying any regular unit price.
