It's been solved somehow, there is a glitch on their side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 526 ✭✭✭sector_000

Airtricity sales rep called to the door. Offer was:
24hr rate, fixed price for 12 months, DD, eBill
elec = 22.6c (24.63c incl VAT) per kWh, standing charge €230+VAT
gas = 6.79c (7.4 inc VAT) per kWh, standing charge €135+VAT
    FIT rate 19.5c

It's better than my Black Friday 2024 Energia rates… (even before the recent ~11% elec price hike).
    What do people think?

    I'm on a non-activated smart meter.

floras similar for gas and 22.56c for electric inc vat

Has anyone on the Flogas BWG plan managed to switch to the Flogas new customer fixed dual fuel plan?

Paying 23.22 for electricity & 7.61 for gas (ex VAT) vs 22.10 & 6.80 on offer for 12 months fixed.

I know I'm fixed and in a contract until September next year so no benefit to them to allow it.

Based on my usage would save the guts of €80.

flogas website upgrade seems to be taking longer than expected, I can’t log into my account to top it up

I feel a bit miffed compared to other Energia customers on here 🙂.

I left mid contract a few days due to their price increase and went to the fixed (not BWG) Flogas tariff.

I had half-expected a call or email from the Energia retention team like others on here had reported getting but not a sausage. I'm a heavy user of electricity with a heatpump and two EVs but also have a large solar array and export about 5 MWh every year.

I have definitely been ported to Flogas as my MPRN has been moved on ESBN.

All I got was a 'why did you leave?' survey email, which I obviously didn't fill out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,219 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Does Flogas offer the best rate for electricity use only? We wouldn't be heavy users. Bill currently averages between 80-90 every 2 months.

use energypal.ie and other price comparison websites to see what the best option for you, some companies are offering cash back offers for new customers

I don't know what to think.
I asked Yuno about MCC codes. I wanted to stay on MCC01, and did both the chat and the phone agent to not to alter the number.
ESB mail came to my door and the meter number has been changed to MCC12. Just speechless. Given the problems I had to go through and asking them for clear information, I deserve this. Not happy.

Yuno are very clear that they will activate your smart meter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,675 ✭✭✭ongarite

Yuno are very clear that they are smart meter only provider and will change your meter if needed. It’s been mentioned here so many times the same thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭Escapees

It doesn't sound like you specifically stated that you did not want a new smart meter installed, which goes against the contract agreed to with Yuno in any case.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,190 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

you can say what you want to yuno it won’t change their process

Ask for a recording of the call but I think you’re goosed

    Good luck winning that one.

The poster agreed to Yunos T&Cs when they signed up. That includes smart meter activation. Yunos entire model is based on an activated smart meter, I assume they're doing something with the data.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,190 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

they must be selling the data to keep the cost down

We're saying the same thing. Was replying to OP but the quote didn't appear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,834 ✭✭✭bren2001

You know what? I read it as "It does sound like" not "It doesn't". Thats dyslexia for you!

Apologies, we are saying the same thing!

Lads! This is from their chat, they told me this, I fell for it:

"Hello, thank you for contacting Yuno Energy. You are through to Faith!

HI, I'm looking for a non-smart tariff. And I've looked into your t&c's and it mentions they are smart one, so it's not possible to revert back a non-smart plan. So everything you offer is a smart tariff?I've a smart meter installed, never had a smart plan, and don't want to have oneyet. Will my meter code change, which is currently MCC01?Thank you!

You do not need to change your MCC, if you would like to stay on MCC01. At Yuno Energy, having a smart meter does not limit the plans you can choose. You are able to choose any plan listed on our website - smart or not smart. Upon signing up, you can simply request that they do not change your MCC01 to MCC12.

    How can I help?
Ok, thank you! So, you require a smart meter in every case, but regardless of MCC code.I wonder how can I give a notice to not to change the MCC code? Via email or on the switching website?

Let me connect you to an agent to discuss your billing.Thank you for providing the necessary information. We are currently connecting you with a Yuno Energy agent who will assist you with your inquiry.

Once you sign up, one of our sales agents will call you. You can make this request when they get in touch with you!"

Their T&Cs which you agreed to: "allow us to request EBSN to configure your Smart Meter to allow ESBN to collect and share your Half Hourly Consumption data with us". This is smart meter activation.

I understand you're not going to read through their entire T&Cs but a cursory search would have told you the above. You can ignore the bot. I don't know what the person on the phone said to you but if you don't want to activate your meter, they offer you an entirely different plan. You should have just gone with someone else. It's too late now sure.

    From Yuno FAQ:

But we will request a Smart Meter from ESB Networks on your behalf when you join.

Wait until the poster finds out that Yuno is a pre pay provider as they are Pre Pay Power. They will take your money in advance & estimate the bill generously in their favour

So in the end, the onus on the customer. It's a joke that their customer service is not familiar with their very own t&c's.
What happens if I cancel? Can I change provider again or have to stay with a previous one?
That company is confusing the sh.t out of me, why this is allowed, a way beyond me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,190 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

the company is best avoided totally and a sales agent will say anything to seal the deal, a quick look on trust pilot would be enough to put me off and the pre pay part is a pain in the hoop

Has anyone received a further update from Flogas on the processing of their order?

I signed up with them on the 18th October and received the above email a few days later. Haven't heard anything since so am currently paying full whack with Electric Ireland after my contract ran out on the 17th.

I got an email a few days after switch to Flogas that included a switch date. A day or two after doing it online. I'm also assuming they'll use my customer gas reading so usage since my reading is with Flogas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,457 ✭✭✭Billy Mays

I've done that a couple of times but was on hold so long I had to hang up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,834 ✭✭✭bren2001

If you're within the 14 day cooling off period, you can revert to your old supplier. You won't be able to switch again for a month* as you can only make 1 request per month. The meter will not be activated, its activated now.

If you're outside the 14 days cooling off period, you will need to wait until your there a month* before you can switch.

*I can't remember the exact number of working days so just phrasing it as a month.

So in the end, the onus on the customer…That company is confusing the sh.t out of me, why this is allowed, a way beyond me.

Yes, the onus is on you to read the T&Cs you "signed". That's been the case forever. Its your responsibility to carry out your due diligence.

There's plenty of information out there indicating the above. Instead of researching this thread/posting a question, you popped in after to complain. That's on you. Most people here do not recommend Yuno (there are a handful that don't have an issue with them and their model)
