Imo the reason Co finals such a big deal as in the past is because there's so many matches week after week hurling and football.

Not so long ago you'd have a special pull out in the local paper, with pen pics of the players, previews and reports on games of the past. Nowadays with so much to cover, a senior Co final will be covered the same as u14 camogie C' final. Sad but it's reality unfortunately

There is certainly a feel of an end of an era. The form of the players you mention were on the downward trajectory this season with maybe Dan Morrissey and Quaid being the exception. Time stands for no man and it is only natural that once players hit their 30s the speed and energy can wain. The conundrum for JK however is are these players while not at their peak better than the talent coming through. Players coming to the end of their careers can often reinvent themselves, work that bit harder in training and find a new energy for a season or two. I would expect this team to give it everything for the coming season. It might be the last hurrah for many of them. It's hard to see Limk dominating like 18-23 again but certainly they will be in the top 3 contenders next season.

funny about end of a era narrative but the 2 big games in 24 and 25 lost were lost by the sideline. 2024 cork subs too late and 2025 v Dublin was a clusterfock of game management v a inferior team down a man. When tipp cork Clare beat us out the gate by 8 to 9 points at a cantor then maybe I will accept we are done

Not surprised we got no All Star awards.

Cian Lynch is unlucky. He was the best player on the pitch in the games v Tipp, Waterford and Cork. Also one of the few who performed in the Dublin match.

I would say English or Hayes were our best but all three are against very strong fields.

I can't understand how Mannion got an All Star. His performances were good but he barely played in any big matches or against top opposition. Ide have English or anyone from Tipp or Cork ahead of him.

Limerick haul of All Stars over the last 7/8 years meant that they were not going to get any this year. Adam English had best chance and was surely more deserving that Mannion. Cian O'Sullivan lucky also as was Mossie Keoghan but semi finalists generally get one.

Mannion was brilliant this year, completely carried an underperforming team. If any Limerick player was getting 1 it was English even against Dublin he maintained his levels but I wouldn't have dislodged Mannion for him, would be Fitzgibbon, Ormond or O'sullivan.

Carried them where and against who ?

There were comprehensively beaten by Kilkenny and Tipp. Fair enough they beat Dublin which we couldn't. It seemed to just be decided early on in the season by the media that he was getting one.

Even in those tough days at the office he was 1 of the few players that stood up, got 11 and 10 points in both KK games, 4 points from play in both instances, got 1-5 from play v Offaly and 0-6 from play v Wexford.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,481 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

That's my point. Put English or any of the Tipp or Cork lads up against cannon fodder like Offaly and they will manage 1-5 too if they were playing centre forward like Mannion was.

    Munster hurling league dates announced.

    Sat Jan 3: Clare v Limerick, 2pm

    Wed Jan 7: Limerick v Cork, 7pm

    McGrath cup

    Fri Jan 2: Limerick v Tipp, 7pm

    Sun Jan 11: Cork v Limerick, 2pm

Some local papers are announcing league dates but I have seen nothing official or related to Limerick yet.

No guarantee, Cian O'Sullivan, Donal Burke, Lee Chin, Rory O'Connor, TJ, etc. all good individual players but none of them were as impressive as him in the Leinster championship. He reminded me of Tony Kelly around 2020/21 with Clare. Ye were impressive against the cannon fodder in Croke Park in the All Ireland QF...

Seem to be missing a few. We are away to Tipp on the 21/22nd and home to Cork on March 7th.

3 years in a row now we are playing Cork on a Saturday night. And we had a championship match down there 2 years ago under lights.

Great to see her back. Wouldn't the Cork lads love to have her on board. Saying that, she's not a total magician is she 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 263 ✭✭HurlingBoy

Huge boost to have Caroline Currid back. There is no way Limerick would have lost to Dublin last season if she was on board. Surprising that the odds on Limerick having shortened following this announcement. For a team that has won 5 All Irelands motivation and hunger is the key ingredient.

I'm 3 weeks late replying to this post but anyone who thinks keoghan or o sullivan were lucky to get all stars doesn't have a clue about hurling.

Keoghan outstanding in the league. 7 from play each against limerick and galway. 6 in the all ireland semi against tipp, couple of goals in the Leinster final. O sullivan similar, 2-5 from play marking all star corner back Sean ó Donoghue while his team mates were outclassed. 1-5 against kilkenny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 263 ✭✭HurlingBoy

League counts for nothing otherwise Cork would have got more than 4. Shane Barrett could easily have gotten the half forward position over O'Sullivan. Dublin got pulverised by Cork so the agrument could be made that more Cork players should gotten All Stars and Dublin getting none. Barrett was only Cork player to have a good All Ireland so deserved an All Star. Keoghan had a good semi final but so had Jason Forde (MOM) so Forde could have gotten over Keoghan. My point is that All Star Selection where there are marginal calls to be made that counties that get to semi finals usually get the nod.

The league means fuk all to All Star selection. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't have a clue about hurling 🤣

Anyone hear who the new keepers are that have been brought into the panel? Presume the same young players as last year have been invited into the training panel for Munster League and league.

The fascination with Caroline Currid in Limerick is very strange. Every county with aspirations to win an All Ireland has a sports psychologist in their backroom staff and every year All Ireland's are won by teams with a sports psychologist who is not CC. If the players were a fraction reliant on CC as many of the supporters seem to be then we're goosed for next year. Having worked with these players for so many years and considering the success they've achieved, you'd think by now that that she'd have equipped them with the tools to deal with the mental challenges they face. It's probably a bit simplistic but this is like bringing on Declan Hannon at 6 and pushing KH out to the wing when we panicked against Dublin - let's go back to what worked a few years previously in the hope we get the outcome we got then. Hard to be optimistic about our chances for next year if this the approach being taken.
